I can't attend due to other obligations. I would like to just to have my voice heard though. Like I told my sister, the regulations are so convoluted that I hope I don't qualify for a very long time. Basically, you need to be on your deathbed to qualify.

Reesie, one step at a time...I hope there will be rewriting of the existing law and much looser regulations LONG before either of us is on our deathbed :)

It was surprisingly interesting. This was just a hearing on whether the buildings could be rezoned to serve as an ATC; best case scenario, there would be a number of further steps involved before it could actually happen. Counsel for the zoning board asked for extension period until March 5 to adequately review legal info. I have to say, I will be *very* surprised if it is approved, but I was proud to be part of the process of trying to make it happen.

I have never tried marijuna, medical or otherwise.  However, I can't understand how they can fill our bodies with drugs which can harm us even more than marijuna, yet they make such a hoopla over legalizing medicinal marijuna.  From what I see going on,  all the healthy people have found a way to get it for regular use and the sick who may really need it are being denied it.  I knew someone who was given so much morphine in the hospital, it may them basically a vegetable.  Yet the thought of trying some marijuna was just not an option!  This medical society needs to get real as to what is really dangerous and what is just "scare" tactics because a drug has a "reputation".

Exactly, Medigal! I couldn't agree more. Those of us with cancer can certainly relate to this irony -we know firsthand all too much about the life-altering and potentially lethal drugs we are legally prescribed!

There are plenty of people who support medicinal marijuana who have never tried it themselves. Some particularly compelling testimony at the hearing I attended the other night came from the mother of a 30-yo wheel-chair bound MS patient, who is unable to care for himself and is in a great deal of pain. She stressed that her son has NEVER used any illegal drugs and will not try marijuana unless it is made available legally - this despite the fact that his doctors have recommended it. The medicinal marijuana movement needs more voices like hers...and yours! If it is something you feel passionate about, please feel free to contact me about becoming involved with advocacy groups local to you. Thank you!
