Did anyone have Psoriasis before or after treatment? If so, how do you deal with it now?

I have two patches, one on each elbow and and just at the top of the forearm.  I'm not sure where you are, I'm in Australia, and here there is believe it or not, a lip balm called Carmex.  I found quite by accident that this lip balm rubbed in well actually soothed the psoriasis and after a few days of using it, it disappeared.  The effect lasted for a few weeks and then it flared up again so I tried the lipbalm again and it did the same thing so now I keep a pot of the Carmex on hand at all times but have found that the more I use it the less I have problems.........weird, but true.  Hope it helps.

    Love n hugs.  Chrissy

Thanks Chrissy. Did you ever take shots, meds or creams?

No, this appeard about two years ago now but I have always had super dry, super sensitive skin and it sort of didn't bother me except for the pain it caused when I leant on anything.  It took me awhile to work out what it was....lol......and it was only when I actually got a good look at it that I knew.  It was raised and my skin looked like scales with raw flesh between.....a bit yuk to say the least.  Luckily it was only small about a 3" patch and I have managed to keep it under control.  I did mention it to my doc and all he said was to keep it moisturised which actually did nothing.  I was about to ask for a referal to a dermo when I discovered the Carmex so never bothered after that.

I have it on my scalp and one ear; I  had it before bc and afterwards.  During chemo it was better, one of the chemo drugs is sometimes used in combatting psoriasis so it lessen during that time.  It has come back since then.   I use a variety of creams and shampoos to help contain it that I get from the  doctor.

I am going to get some carmex and see what it does on some of my areas.   I sometimes get a small spot on my forhead also.   When my scalp really feels raw I steep rosemary in some olive oil and apply it to my head, it makes it feel better at least for awhile.   Kathleen

I believe my Psoriasis was an indication my cancer was in the making. I got a small patch one and half years before dx. Psoriasis is an over active immune system reaction correct?

    I will try the Carmex.
