Need strength and energy
I have been feeling so weak and tired lately. I have been on TDM1 for over a year and very close to NED. Its killing the cancer but it is taking a toll on me too. I feel like crap lately and up until about 2 months ago nobody could ever tell I had something wrong with me. I am bleed so much. Everytime I blow my nose there is lots of blood. My gums will start to bleed for no reason. When I get a cut it is hard to stop it. Any thoughts. My blood work is in the low normal range. Any foods that I can try to help with this issue? Vitamins? Voodoo? ( just kidding kinda) Any way..... any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Laura,
Papaya is supposed to be good for improving your platelets. I am on my 12th TDM-1, I eat a really clean diet, no sugar and processed foods. I have a lot of vaginal bleeding, but no real nose bleeds, yet. You can google foods for improving platelet count. I would be really interested to hear how you are doing, please feel free to call me. My name is Fern and my number is 818-205-8713. I know I had a list of foods which helps our platelets, I will see if I can find it for you.
Best wishes
Fern

waterlady - I would retract (delete) your post with your phone number and send it in a private message. You are putting your private information out on the internet, maybe not a good idea?

waterlady, right below your post you will see the words 'edit' and 'delete. You can click on edit and just remove the phone number or delete to remove the whole post. You do want to PM (Private Message) personal information instead of having it just out there.
I would be interested in the platelet food list!

i find that molasses helps.. it pumps up the iron content of the blood so it can absorb more oxygen. lots of great nutrients as well. From what I've read it is far better to get your vitamin and minerals from food sources, that supplements in a pill form for instance just make expensive pee... that they are not readily absorbed by the body.
There is a list of ten super foods that i try to eat regularly including parsley, molasses, nutritional yeast (not exactly a food) oatmeal, berries.. that are packed with nutrition.
bleeding issues are something that can be addressed medically, can be dangerous and well.. they are a serious problem.. I wish you luck. I don't know of anything you can eat that will fix that. Vitamin K supplements? i don't know..

Eating to boost platelet count is problematic. The best way to address it is with a platelet transfusion. Platelets are pretty unaffected by food intake, unlike red blood cells and hemoglobin. Also, a low platelet count is not necessarily connected to weakness, that would be hemoglobin which carries oxygen to the muscles. Food can assist to a certain point, but again a red cell transfusion is the best fix.
