Janis ~ I lived in San Francisco when I was 15-16 years old 1967-68 & loved it. My Dad was stationed on Treasure Island & we lived on the Presido. We moved back to MI when he retired from the Navy & I've missed it ever since. I went to George Washington High School for my sophomore year. My regret: I don't have a yearbook. I have tried to obtain one, but no luck. Maybe I'll try again.....
On my Bucket List:
A trip back.
-
Barbe.....I am going to talk to my Nurse Navigator today about all this. My BS saw me last week for my 6 month checkup and flat out said I had LE and I needed treatment right away. Then later the same day RO is treating the skin issue first, then sending me to therapy. There are few LE specialists in the area but I think my RO had one in mind. Actually Esther, his Nurse Practicioner. I should start therapy after I go back on the 17th.
ValJean...Road trip! My mom was born and raised in SF and lived there until my dad got bored and moved us. I think she was 29. My Grandma had a house on on of the hills that overlooked the ocean. I loved going to visit her! I wish I knew where my mom went to HS. She and her family are long gone but I would love to find out. Anyway don't go without me, okay? All my adult life I never forgot the wonderful sourdough bread I was raised on! Later after marriage we lived in Denver, Wyoming and Texas and never once did I find a sourdough as fresh and sour and crusty as what I remember. Oh what good stuff. Oddly enough I do not like fish or seafood, and neither does my sister. But my mom loved it all!

Happy Groundhog's Day. Here's how they lure them out. BTW, he saw his shadow...no early Spring.

-
Eli - we have Wiarton Willie the albino groundhog near by. He predicted the opposite as he did not see his shadow. Was watching on tv this morning and was amazed at how many spectators these rodents really attract. What a great way to break out of a winter funk!
-
P.S. - I can usuallly be lured out with the promise of food also - not much of a prognosticator though - lol
-
Eli thanks for reminding me it was ground hogs day. Totall forgot.
April glad you found us. This is a great place for support. Ask any questions and someone will surely have the answer. I don't know what I would do with out all my BC sisters here.
-
Here in Ont he did not see his shadow so we are getting an early spring.Anyone would come out for cheetoes.
-
You got that right, mumayan!

Heading to the Majestic Theater tonight to see the muscial "Cats" My girlfriend wanted to do something nice for my mom as she has had a hard year with my Dad's passing. She wanted to give her a fun girls night out so she bought tickets for us and for her and her mom. We are going to dinner and then then theater should be fun.
-
April, welcome to the club that no one wants to be in. You've come to the right place. Vent, rant, squeal, cry, yell, laugh, and let it all out. We're here, we listen, we can help, and we care. Your a sister now and no one or nothing messes with my sister. Kitty
-
Sherry- They are beautiful. Congrats!! Are you going to the Majestic in San Antonio. I love that place.
Barbe- I hope that you are feeling better. DH and I had the flu last February and it was rough.
April- When you need us, we'll be there for you. We all understand what it is like. Feel free to share, read posts, and vent when you need to. Hugs. -
If six more weeks of winter means more of the 60-degree weather we have been having here, bring it on! Though DH commented that because it has never gotten truly cold here for an extended period, we will have a BAZILLION bugs this summer. Ew.
First mammogram for me post diagnosis next Wednesday!
-
Cheese the day -yes San Antonio
Went to the Majestic Theater in San Antonio last night with my mom, a girlfriend and her mom. We had a great dinner and Cats was fabulous. We had a great time with our moms, but I am not used to staying out so late and then having to get up for work in the morning. How did I ever make it through college???
-
"but I am not used to staying out so late and then having to get up for work in the morning"
Sherryc, Truer middle-aged words have never been spoken.

madpeacock, Bet you will sail right through with flying colors. Will they give same-day results?
-
Where is everyone tonight. Getting ready to go to be and jus thought I would check in.
-
madpeacock - Hoping for an "all clear" for you on Wed.

-
WHo's doing the MP?
-
Babara, I don't know quite how to say this.....uhm.....elimar ditched the MP a week ago!!! Hugs to you at the scary time!!
-
Thank you, Barbe, for breaking the news gently to BarbA. It just seemed like it had gone on for a good length of time. Hope weekends won't be too boring around here, but if they are don't forget we can always help the neverending stream of frightened Newbies on the other threads. (And, no, I am not snickering up my sleeve at anyone for being frightened...it IS truly scary when you get the Dx and try to figure out what it all means.
-
Checking in & adding apologies for killing the mystery picture. I tried honestly!
Different note-scary day! Gorgeous beautiful day, so DD, our dog (who helped me break my shoulder back in '10) and a friend, went hiking. On their way home, DD got to going a bit too fast on the gravel roadway, felt it getting away from her, BRAKED & since it was a small pick-up, with no weight in the back, lost control, FLIPPED, landed upside down in a ditch (not going over the cliff on the other side of the road). Everyone is OK, even the dog (although she's stovin' up as night wears on) Cop said being seat-belted saved their lives. I had been at a very nice soup/salad bar lunch with a good friend & was on my way to sit with my dad (Alzheimers) so my step-mom could have a break, when DD called. When I got there & saw the truck, I almost lost lunch! Honestly, there should have been hospital time! I told her God was definitely riding in the cab with them!
-
Praise God that they weren't hurt Eph3_12! What a relief..thank you, dear Lord!
-
Joni, so bery glad your daughter is OK. Whew.
I must have missed the MP post which considering how fast this thread moves, is not surprising. Besides, I do have CRS disease.
Barbe, we will be in your pocket tomorrow!
-
Thank God, Joni!!!! God riding shotgun is always a good thing.
Thanks for any thoughts and prayers guys! I'm a little bit nervous on this surgery, more so than my mastectomies. The area is a bit different!! (thyroid and tumour removal)
-
Joni - Thank God everyone is Okay. Seatbelts are a good thing.
-
Eph3 - So scary.... I am so thankful that everyone is ok including the dog. Always good to Have God as a co-pilot.....
Barbe - will be in your pocket for the surgery....
-
Eph, OMG, glad there were no injuries! (And that is one tough dog too.)
Barbe, Hope all goes well tomorrow. I have heard the healing on this surgery is not too bad at all. Hope you have a fashionable scarf of two that can cover a gauze dressing for a few days.
-
You are in good hands, Barbe, trust them!
-
Meece, Don't hear from you that often. Hope all's well. I just posted something on the Middle-Aged Memories for you. Wish that thread would get more active again. Any Middies on here want to go down memory lane? Check out this thread...

Joni so glad God was riding in the truck with your daughter. He is always our protector.
BArb will be praying for you and the doctors.
-
Barbe I hope those pockets are big, 'cause I'm jumping in one of them too. Hugs sweetie.
