Am I Ignoring Cancer Ladies?
Comments

Hi ladies, I read another post that was really, really long in which many of you continued to help a lady who wasn't presenting 'typical' IBC symptoms and I thought if I am going to ask for help I will do it amongst these supportive women.
That being said: I am almost 41 yrs. old. Breast cancer runs in my paternal side and maternal side-terminal. I woke up five days ago with a purplish(almost deep-pink purplish) roundish, slightly sensitive to the touch sore; and certainly my breast was aching and sore as well. i am(unable to wear a bra in weeks now) it is above and slightly flowing into my aereola. It has now become scaley-it is literally peeling. My nipple doesn't seem inverted. I can't tell if one breast is larger, I had breast reduction in 1998 which corrected uneven sized breasts anyway.
My neck-throat lower area on the right side ONLY-which is where the 'sore thing' is-(right breast), is painful. It is uncomfortable to swallow. No burning of the throat just achey and throbbing, even when not eating, now. That started today-day 5. There are small red bumps in between my breasts and under my left breasts. I also feel achey all over, have headaches and am sleepy-lethargic.
Anyone else experience these things with BC or IBC? Thank you-I'm scared but if it's nothing I don't want to to see a dr.

Hi I am not sure about the sore on your breast but no matter what do not wait to see a doctor,it's you life you are talking about. As far as your throat and red bumps go it sounds like Scarlett fever, dont be scared it is a strept throat with a rash so you should see a doctor for that as well. Good luck!!!!!

Hi. I agree with Cindy, you need to get your breast checked out. Most of the symptoms you name are the same as I experienced on my breast, the purplish mark, scaley and peeling skin (and also itchy), and also red itchey bumps on the breast and between. By my third chemo threatment all of that has gone now and breast looks normal again. All the best to you.

I don't know if it is IBC, but it's something that needs to be looked at. Call your doctor and tell them it's an emergency - if it is IBC, you need to move quickly. Hoping it's something else for sure!

Sherry, I'm sorry this is causing you to worry, and the only way to know for sure is to follow CindyJ's excellent advice, and see your doctor as soon as possible. In the Frequently Asked Questions on the main Breastcancer.org site, there are reminders that although most breast lumps turn out to be non-cancerous, it is important to see your doctor right away if you think it might be BC.
We wish you well!

I'm with the rest of recommendations: See a doctor, even if you have to go on antibiotics. If they work, it's not ibc. My ibc was not painful, just looked like a bug bite and itched a lot.
