So Disappointed

I have not been happy with my final reconstruction since immediately after surgery so I decided that a second opinion was needed. I made an appointment with another PS at another hospital for 2 weeks ago. I received a call 2 days before the scheduled appointment telling me that they would have to reschedule the appointment as the doctor needed to see "a breast cancer  patient".What the hell am I??? They have my history. Next appointment is scheduled for tomorrow. I was out all day and I come home th find a message on my machine telling me that they have to reschedule my appointment AGAIN!!! I am so angry at this guy that I don't even know that I am tempted to not call his office and find someone else.I'm not used to this kind of treatment and I don't think I should have to get used to it. I know, just spiting myself.I just needed to get this out.

    I'm so sorry. 

    A few years back, I had a surgeon like that when I needed my ADH removed.  Literally, a day before my surgery they'd cancel on me when I had the rest of my week planned out for work and family.  It was so frustrating.  That's why I found another breast cancer surgeon who ended up being the best breast health advocate I could ever find.    

    You could always call the office tomorrow and ask to speak with the office manager and make sure that whatever appointment you are given on the next round remains untouched. Are you willing to give them one more chance?  Has this doctor been referred to you? 

    Sorry you were unhappy with your reconstruction.  I'm in the TE phase right now.

    Thanks for weighing inTatiana.I actually saw this PS's name come up here a few times and so I asked about him to a friend of mine that works in the hospital that he operates out of.I do plan on speaking with the office manager tomorrow but I haven't decided if I want to give him another chance.

    I actually wasn't happy with the way my TE's were placed and it just carried over to the permanent implants.

    Keep us posted, DocBabs.  I think after hearing the office manager's response you'll have your mind made up for sure. 

    If you don't mind me asking, when did you know you were unhappy with the reconstruction?  Was it while you still had your TEs or at exchange time?

    I understand completely, DocBabs.  The way the pockets are dissected and the TEs are placed seem to define how the permanent implants look.  It is one thing for the TEs to move to the outside or elsewhere, but if the initial pocket dissection is good then this can be corrected at exchange.  But it seems like bad pocket dissection will remain as a bad look after exchange to permanent implants.

    If you need a different PS mine is in Orlando and use the clinical trail gummies.  He has tons of experience in breast reconstruction and I am very happy

    All right, I just spoke with the office manager at this new PS's office.I expressed my disappointment at yet another cancelled appointment.I don't know what I expected her to say ............I did ask why he was cancelling and again was told that it was to see a breast cancer patient  to schedule surgery.I already have a bad taste in my mouth so I don't even know IF I will keep the next appointment that I made.

    identtwins, thanks for your recommendation but hopefully I'll be able to find one here in NYC.I'm happy that you had a good result.

    Tatina123, I knew as soon as I looked at my breasts with the TEs that things were not going to be good. I had NSBMX and the scars went from my areolas outward. Unfortunately my nipples followed outward too. As the scars healed they pulled them further and further outward. I also noted that one expander did not seem to be "seated" correctly in the breast. The bottom of the expander seemed to be folded over on itself. I assumed that with the fills it might straighten out but it didn't. That breast is the one that is very ,very uncomfortable.Both TEs expanded out to my armpits, not an uncommon thing I'm told but now the implants have followed that same path. It's like they need a shield on the sides to keep them from sliding sideways.I know that he used Alloderm so I'm not sure what exactly is the problem. The main problem seems to be the my current PS thinks everything looks good, hence the need for a new set of eyes .

    Fingers crossed for Feb 15th.

    Docbabs... I am sorry all this is going on for you. I am going to play devil's advocate here and just say that sometimes when the doctor's office says that they are changing your appointment because they have to do a case for a cancer patient, they often are referring to a patient that is actively in treatment - meaning their tumor is not gone yet. Maybe the patient was just now having their mastectomy and the PS is there to begin the reconstruction at the same time. I can't say if this is true in your case, and it would be helpful if the office elaborated just a little bit and maybe explained that the other patient is an "active" cancer patient (currently in treatment - and possibly not had their tumor removing surgery yet). It wouldn't change the fact that they changed your appt, but it would maybe make it an easier pill to swallow. In the meantime, fingers crossed for a positive appt. when you do get there!

    Need some advice from ladies who finished Stage 2 revisions, please. Just had SGAP Stage 2. I am in shock because just saw new breasts. Discussed C/D cup size with surgeon with upper pole fullness. These are small flat almost B cups, with nothing on top of breast. Flat upper chest. Only B on lower pole of breast. Was a lifelong natural C or C+ cup and wanted C+ or D.

    So disappointed. Haven't seen surgeon for the post-op visit yet. How can tell him that I can't believe that this is the result? Breast mounds after Stage 1 were full C cups and lipofilling was supposed to increase that. What on earth can have happened and can this be fixed? Anyone come out much smaller in their Stage 2 revision?
