OneToughCookie - I meant to ask you how tx #4 compared to the others.  I had a reaction to the Taxotere at tx 2, tx 3 went well but the fatigue and aches seemed to last longer than the previous tx's.  I wonder if the SE's are cumulative so I know what to look forward to....NOT

Hello---writing from Newark Ohio----grew up in the Xenia area though.

I finished my chemo last year.  Had 4 A/C, 12 taxol and a year of herceptin which I just finished in Dec.  Hope that you are all doing well and hanging in there.

    Hi TonLee----nice to meet you!

Those were my old stomping grounds.  Lived there and was in high school when the big tornado went through.  The town has never looked right to me since but there are some good memories there too. Still have family in the area.  One sister in the Bellbrook area and another north and west of Dayton.

It turned into a nice day today ----the sun came out and it really warmed up---what a crazy winter we are having in Ohio this year!

    Jay,

    I'm in Beavercreek!

It was nice today!  I'm not complaining about the weather...until and unless this mild wet winter breeds a gazillion mosquitoes!

Beavercreek!    My husband is from Beavercreek!    I have a sudden hankering for a Marions pizza!  :)

I hope we dont get a ton of bugs either from this mild winter---everytime we get one of these warm ups I find a fly or two outside on the door.  Where do they come from???   We were freezing just a few days ago.  Anyway---I did get to enjoy the nice day, went for a nice walk.  It felt good, am going to try and get out there as often as I can.  Have a great day tomorrow TonLee!

    Hello Kelloggs,

I was diagnosed 11/29/11 I live in Canton. I am originally from Texas I have lived here twice once in 2002-2004 and moved back in 2008. I am going on my 3rd treatment of AC on 2/10 and will be done on 3/2/12 last treatment and surgery in April with immediate reconstruction. Chemo has gone pretty well so far down for 5 days before going back to work. I live in the Jackson area. I don't have family around they are all in Texas, NM,  just a couple of friends, my kids, husband and they keep me busy that I can't dwell on what I have BC. My neighbor was also diagnosed the same time I was so we have talk, but she went a different route. I am not a triple +, but it was nice to see that you are from Canton.

Chase2 - It's great to see another Canton girl on here...although it sucks that you have to be on here at all!  Where do you go for treatment?  I have TCH #4 on 2/9.  I grew up in Jackson and just moved to Plain Township about 2 years ago.  Just got married on 5/14/11 and 5 months later - BAM, you have BC!  So I am technically still a newlywed and have been reinforced every day that I married the right guy, my DH is wonderful!  I have 2 girls, one is 24 and lives in Canton also and my youngest is 18 and goes to the Cleveland Institute of Art.  Both graduated from Jackson just like I did.

    Hi TonLee

Yes, its beautiful again.  I was able to get out and walk my 2 miles.  Feels so good when I can do that.  Had to hit the grocery store on the way home.  I hate grocery shopping too!!!!  I'm not a very organized shopper and I tend to leave my list behind on the kitchen table.  Seems to be happening more often since I have been on the AIs.  :)

    Jaytee,

    Which AI are you on?

I'm on Tamox right now, but having an Ooph next friday and switching to an AI in a few months.

My biggest SE with Tamox is joint pain.  Whoa.  It's killer.  And my eyes.  Lots of floaters.

heading out this morning for CT scans and then my MUGA this afternoon.

when the gal called yesterday to tell me that i have to drink the barium i asked her if it had sugar in it (as a gastric bypass person i dump=get REALLY sick= from too much sugar)-she thought i was worried about calories!! with BC who the heck cares about calories!!!! she read me the contents label and we are good....so--

hoping to sneak a chinese lunch in between tests.....

    Lumpy,

    Um, that would be me!

I counted every single calorie before during  and after chemo (still do!).

It really helped me never feel "fat" when chemo told my body to retain fluid.  I'd bounce up 5 pounds over night.  I could look at my calories (fitday.com has a great free tracker that also tells you where the holes are in nutrition for the day!) and know, this "Weight" is not real.

I want to know how many calories are in anything I drink, chew, or eat.

I haven't worked my entire adult life to be strong and fit only to let BC make me fat!!   lol

lumpy - I just got back from a follow up CT.  I had lung nodules on my first set of scans before chemo.  Now I have scanxiety.....please send good thoughts that the 3 TCH I did so far is shrinking or getting rid of those suckers!

i DO care about calories -after my gastric bypass i lost 83 # -but i gained back some-stress eating-so i'm sitting about 50# above where i would really like to be...i DO understand TonLee.....my concern was for sugars-too many grams of sugar make me very very ill......i also am concerned when i see ppl talk of steroids-i know they can cause the chipmunk look....

kelloggs-i am a bit nervous about the scans i must admit--definitely sending positive vibes your way!

the lab where CT's were done also did my chest xrays so that is outta the way-just the mammo next week left....i hope.

so- in between my tests today there was no chinese lunch- i was sleepy -we came home, scrambled some eggs with cheese and i tried to nap--til the phone rang right after i fell asleep-pre-registration for next week's mammo...dang it....now i think i'll just go to bed early tonite

lumpy - thanks...sending the positive vibes your way, too.  I find that I gain alot of water weight in between txs.  I can fluctuate from day to day by up to 6 pounds!  I would really like to watch what I eat but I must admit I'm not, especially after tx when my taste buds are messed up.  I pretty much eat whatever I can taste.  I try to keep food in my stomach then even though it's hard to find anything palatable because it does make the belly feel better.  On top of it, I am highly allergic to Nutrasweet / Aspartame so anything with sugar substitute is out...even Splenda bothers me.  UGH!

Hope all my Ohio BC sisters have a wonderful night!

I've read after gastric bypass your whole eating style has to change.  Sounds like you're on top of it.  I WISH sugar made me sick.  I LOVE IT....

But you know what is weird?  When chemo was eating my estrogen during txs, I didn't really crave sweets.  And even for a few months after, but once my periods started back....OMgoodness!!  I crave sweets non-stop.

Hopefully when I have the Ooph next Friday it will go away again.

Let us know how all the scans turn out!

TonLee-------I am taking letrozole, the generic of femara.  Sounds like all the AIs cause joint pain.  I had trigger thumbs really bad at first and my hands are very stiff, especially in the morning and I have been getting shoulder pain in the last couple of months.  I've been reading a lot of the threads about AIs, several women have said that they do better taking their pill at night---I'm going to ask my onc about it when I see her this month.   You are in good shape so you may be bothered less by the SEs   I am finally getting really motivated to lose some weight---hoping that will help.   The weather has been a big help----can't believe I've been able to take a long walk almost everyday this week!

Hoping everyone's scans come back with good news.  I have some coming up at the end of the month. these will be my second since finishing chemo.  Had a  spot on my lung in the last Cat scan but  the onc said it was the size of a pencil dot---too small to test.   Kind of nervous about that one.

Mugas---oh, I have had so many of those darn tests.  The A/C chemo affected my heart and then I had to do the whole year of herceptin too.   I was devastated when the onc referred me to a cardiologist, it was just another thing to deal with.  Up to the bc diagnosis I had been pretty healthy.  Now I am on what I call the medical merry go round and I wish I could get off!   I have been very encouraged though by other women here whose heart function returned to normal after finishing herceptin.  I've been off of it since Dec. and I'm feeling pretty good---have been walking 2 miles at the track pretty easily.  No shortness of breath or anything-----hopefully I'm on the mend.

Good night and take care everyone

Titan - Welcome...and WOW 3 years out!  I love to hear that!  Wooster is very close to me.  Were you able to get treatment at the Cleveland Clinic Wooster clinic or did you have to drive all the way to Cleveland?  I am very lucky..my office is in the physician office building attached to Aultman and I can walk over for shots and blood.  Plus I only live about 5 minutes from here.

I had everything done at Wooster Cleveland Clinic...my surgeon specializes in lumpectomies..which I was an candidate for..plus they have an excellent chemo and rads facility..I wouldn't have done it any other way....I thought about going to Cleveland but why..I thought that even though Wooster was a satellite of CC I should be able to get the same type of care as in Cleveland..so I did...I did research as to what type of treatment I needed and they were right on with it..

Titan - that's awesome you could do treatment right near home.  I didn't know how extensive their satellite in Wooster was.  My youngest DD goes to college in Cleveland and I drive right by the Clinic when I pick her up for weekends.  I can't imagine making that hour long drive all the time.  I feel bad for the women who have to drive so far just to find good treatment.  We are blessed in that respect!

Welcome Eileen...I spoke to you on PM.  Good luck on your first treatment...be proactive with your meds and make sure you let your MO know if you have any SE's so they can help you.  You will do fine, the anticipation is the worst part.  Infusion day is just like any other day except you spend about 5 hours or more in the chair.  Take a good book, a good friend, some snacks, whatever you need to pass the time.  Let us know how you do!

Thanks!  Went for pre-op today...bloodwork, living will, etc.

I was so sick last night.  I vomited most of the night.  I never vomit.  I may get nauseous but I don't puke.  Well last night I did!  I haven't puked for over 20 years....I'm hoping it was something I ate....but my vision is fuzzy, I'm dizzy, and had a headache for a few days.  (Of course I wonder...is it brain mets?? heh)

I told the nurse today...and she said, meh, unless you are really ill on Friday...we'll go ahead with it.....

Jaytee, an Ooph is when they go in and remove the ovaries and fallopian tubes.  This puts the woman into instant menopause and stops estrogen production (which is what I want).

They say it will be 3 small incisions...but we'll see.  After two emergency c-sections, I wonder how much scar tissue is in there.

I'll let ya know how it goes!  I'll be getting the house ready all day tomorrow...we're in the middle of a bedroom remodel and it is almost done!! WOO HOO!  Then I have to get the rest of the house together!

    Have a great weekend..

    Tonya
