"Grainy" Nodes, Thickening Skin
Hello, Everyone ~
I have an area about two inches long just above my MX scar (cancer side) that has gotten pretty thick; I noticed it four weeks ago. Just below the scar are two small spots that are very tender to the touch. I have a couple of nodes that feel enlarged to me, but my onc said they just feel sort of "grainy" whatever that means.
He's not alarmed, but is sending me for a PET next week "for peace of mind". Meh. I don't know what to think.
I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has or had anything similar going on. I'll also appreciate any prayers, good thoughts, healing vibes, etc.

Sorry you are having this scare. Did you have all of your nodes removed? I have no idea what grainy means, I'm sorry you had to hear such a vague comment but I'm sure it made you worry. I am happy that you will get a PET scan. Then, when it is clear (oodles of positive vibes there), you will feel much safer and will know that what you are feeling is ok and normal. I don't think I would know thickening in my MX if I were to have it. I can feel nothing. I have no idea what it is supposed to feel like. But I am always feeling something. I have no idea what is normal now. I do sometimes have pain in the breast and wonder if it is some form of lymphedema and swelling. It is soo hard when we have no idea what is really going on in there. Especially when some of us had no real idea what was going on in there in the first place (I never felt any tumors, no-one did...yet there they were on their merry way to nodes)....I hope you get your confidence back with your clean PET scan....

kathleen1966 ~ I had two nodes out. I don't know what grainy is either, but I think I'd rather hear that instead of, "Oh my gosh what a huge node!! That's cancerous for sure!! Get thee immediately to the chemo lab!!"
I'm glad to be getting the PET as it's been a little over a year since I had one. I just wish there wasn't a real REASON to be doing it.
Thanks so much for your sweet post and positive vibes!
