Everybody still doing okay here?
-
So good to hear from you! Everyone must be busy or else they've forgotten about this thread. I'm sure they didn't forget about that time of surgery in November though!
I'm doing well. Busy as usual with a few extra-busy weeks ahead. Had some tendonitis in my shoulder and asked my onc about lymphedema. Found out that he seems to think I'm paranoid about it and isn't interested in reassuring me. Oh well - he's the best if I ever need chemo for anything so I'll do my own research and not mention these things to him.....!
I have been losing weight - which is good. It has helped my blood sugars and other lab results. I'm thankful that God has helped me and taken away the cravings and desire for carbs and sweets. But, it has seemed fairly easy.... so then I start wondering...... I know God is in control and wants me to take one step at a time and trust Him.
You are busy and doing well also?
-
This hymn just came to me - I haven't thought of it for a long time! It really is special, so thought I'd share it with you!
My Savior daily walks with me because I trust His love
In all that's best His hand I see it points to Heav'n above
I will follow Him through shadows dim or in the sunshine bright
And on we walk together and He leads my steps arightChorus:
On and on we walk together (on we walk together)
Christ is ever by my side (Christ is by my side)
And I fear no stormy weather (fear no stormy weather)
He's a faithful guide (for He is a faithful guide)
You can never find another (you can't find another)
For the waves obey His will (waves obey His will)
And He speaks to you my brother (speaks to you my brother)
Hear His "Peace, be still" (come and hear His "Peace, be still")Upon my blessed Lord I lean, my all to Him confide
No more the shadows come between, I'm walking by His side
In true faith will I on him rely, He makes my burdens light
And on we walk together and He keeps my steps aright -
Hey 2Hands- I'm not familar with that song. good words--
Yes, I am doing very well. PTL! It's been almost 2 years for me since my dx.
So, do you go yearly to your BS just for a check-up or what?
Tell me again where in CA you live. I told you we were out there for almost 20 years. We may go back there next summer to see all our old friends from church. If we're anywhere near you, I'd love to meet you face to face. ;-)
-
Hi dmorgan - I tried twice to answer your post last Thursday. The first one just disappeared, then our company arrived. At bedtime I re-posted and it disappeared also! I now have time to try it again tonight! Only 4 days later!
I didn't have a BS, just a general surgeon since I didn't have reconstruction. I followed up with him something like 1 week and then maybe 1 month after surgery. Since then, I'm following up with my onc. He now has me on a 6 month schedule. Not real sure why since he insists the chance of reoccurance is low due to mastectomies.
We are in the central valley - almost the center of the state from east to west and north to south. It would be great to meet you! Maybe if you're not real close, we could meet partway?
I'm going to try again - hopefully this time will work!
-
Hi all - Everything here just fine. I am on Facebook more than here. If anyone is interested send me a PM and I will give you my info to "friend" me. Have a great rest-of-the-summer.
-
I am friends on FB with Jane M, who was a part of "our" month: Nov.09.
She's just posted that she has mets now. ;-( 'Thought you all would want to know.
Let's remember to pray for her. (She had her first mx in '08.)
-
Hi again! How is everyone doing? Any "Facebook" updates from Jane or Marilyn? Anyone else?
-
Hi 2Hands4me~
Hope the summer treated you well and all is good. Been busy since July - my mom passed away quite unexpectedly so have been going to her house almost every weekend to work on things. It has been quiet an emotional rollercoaster. We shared the same birthday, July 4, and she died two days before our birthday celebration.
The weather in Michigan is changing and I don't like it - too cold already and leaves changing colors. Hope everyone else is doing well. I just sent dmorgan2 a Facebook friend request.
~ Leslie
-
Leslie - so sorry to hear about your mom. My husbands mom died unexpectedly a few years ago. It was great for her to not linger and be sick, but a shock to us! And taking care of things at the house can sure take time. What a challenge, huh? I hope you have a good support system to love and care for YOU!
Hopefully, work is going well for you too. We are starting a new computer system at work soon, so I have been putting in some extra unpaid hours to learn and develop a sheet to help us through the process! I usually only work one day a week, and next week will be 3 !!!! Then maybe things will settle down some!
-
Leslie,
I am so very sorry about your Mom! It has to be one of life's greatest hurts---losing your Mom. Mine's been gone for some time now. I am so sorry. I just saw on FB that you had a JUly 4th birthday; I didn't know your Mom did too. Bless your heart.
Girls, I went today for my (one) mammo. It was fine, thank goodness. But I sure went down memory lane, just being back in the same hall where I had the wires inserted before the mx and going in for an ultrasound "to be sure" etc. Brought back a lot of memories and feelings. So glad we're all 2 years almost down the road! Agan, Leslie, my heart goes out to you.
-
"Lots of memories and feelings" - Wow - is that ever true dmorgan! X-Ray is across the hall from the lab at our doctor complex and that's all it takes! Or some reference to a radiologist or one of the nurses or so many other things. Some of the memories are actually good ones - but the one radiologist and the one ultrasound - well, I hope NO ONE ever has to do that again! (She no longer works there....so that is a good thing! She was so completely un-compassionate and rough!). I try to focus on the good memories and let the others go!

hello
-
Hi 2009 Mx group. This is my 4th attempt to write you all. Has anyone else had any trouble with replying here?
Anyway, it's been 2 years for us!
I have been thinking back. 2Hands, I remember your picture of the sunrise that you took, going into the hospital. That encouraged me. Do you remember how cold my feet got closer to my date?! Tomorrow will be exactly 2 years for me. (the 18th)
I hope everyone is doing ok. I am. Let us know how you're doing if you read this.
This group was such an encouragement to me 2 years ago. Thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!.
-
So good to hear from you dmorgan! Yes, I remember the sunrise very well! I wasn't exactly looking forward to a second mastec. that morning, but marching onward anyway. What a special blessing God gave me that morning. It was like a reminder straight from HIM - His Promise to be with me! I remember other times when I go to work about the same time of the morning, and park in a similar place, facing east. The sunrise is often beautiful - but not as much as that morning!
And yes, I remember your cold feet! And tried to pass my encouragement on to you! So glad you felt the same as I did!
I just now realized with your post, what the date is! The 10th went past, and I never realized it. That amazes me, since I knew 2 years ago that those two dates would forever be remembered! Life does go on.....and so many of God's blessings every day.
-
Hope you girls are doing well. Seems just like yesterday that we were all sweating it out waiting for our surgeries. Life is moving forward and I am hoping for a nice relaxing holiday. Think of this group often and I agree with dmorgan and 2hands that we were such a help to each other a couple of years ago.
Take care, jingle, jingle and all that good stuff!
Leslie
-
Leslie- I'm especially thinking of you. This will be a hard time of year for you, but this time next year, it'll be a little easier for you. Promise!
-
You can add me in for a bilateral mastectomy with Tissue Expanders on Nov 18. (Marcyk)
-
Marcyk - I sent you a private message. If you're not sure how to find that, let me know!
-
Hey girlfriends- Everyone doing ok?
-
Hi ! It's so-o-o great to hear from you! I always love the chance to connect!
I was sick last Sunday, then spent the week getting over it. I think I was over the initial flu or whatever it was, but it left me tired and with NO appetite and a queasiness that wouldn't go away. Seems to be improving the last couple days now! I lost 5 pounds! That seems extreme for only one week.....
How is everyone else?
-
Hey 2Hands! I see you're up on the West coast and this East coast girl needs to get to bed...especially since church's in the morning!
I'm sorry you've been sick. That viral stuff can really be bad. The good SE is the loss of 5 pounds though! Now just don't gain it back! Your body's going to want to recooperate what it lost! ;-)
You remember Jane Murphy from our group here? She went to Cancer Center Treatments of America recently. Also "Miss Marilyn" is doing well. I'm telling you, you need to get on FB!! ;-)
Good to hear from you. I must go nite nite now.
P.S. I'm doing good!
-
Glad you are doing well. Thanks for the other updates. Do you know how Jane is doing? Still am not convinced about facebook. I hear more negative than positive. Yes, I know.....it's all in how you use it! But there are also only so many hours in a day! And when I hear that their goal is to have EVERY one on facebook.....well, it just makes me wonder why it's so important. I don't even like it that if I type to someone about scrapbooking, I start getting scrapbooking ads show up. That doesn't feel very private, no matter what they say! (Maybe you can tell Miss Marilyn that I'm thinking about her, and always glad to hear the updates?)
Hope you had a wonderful day of worship. We had a couple of baptisms so it was extra special! God is still working in lives around us, and I'm so thankful.
-
I will tell Ms Marilyn you asked about her. Unfortunately, Jane isn't doing too well. She's encouraged about her trip/visit to Cancer Centers of America, but she has several mets. ;-(
-
Well i wanted to check in I know I dont come on the boards much. I think about all the wonderful ladies who I met on these boards daily. I hope everyone is doing good.
Rebecca
-
Hi Rebecca! It is nice to see people check in. I know I don't do it often enough either. As for me, all is well approaching my three year mark in September - just like you.
~ Leslie
-
Wow its so crazy to look back to where we have come from. I am glad you replied. I try to check in every few days now cause I don't want to loose track of anyone.
Rebecca
-
Hi Leslie and Rebecca! It's so good to hear from you! I've been busy and didn't see these updates. Sorry it has taken me so long to respond.
Saw my onc today and he decided that I could just be followed by my primary! Yah! About time too....I feel bad taking an appt when I'm really doing fine. Of course, I can always make an appt or e-mail him if something comes up.
Hope your summer is going well. I just finished weeding and cleaning up the back yard (again!)and also planted some more flowers. Still have a couple of small jobs that need done in the front, then start all over in a month or so!!! Good exercise anyway!
Let's stay in touch! -
2hands good to hear you are doing well. I am so lucky since I live in the desert Palm Springs I do not do the yard work I leave that to the gardner. Since it has higher than 105 for sometime now I could not cope.
Rebecca
-
We love Palm Springs! We were there a couple years ago with friends! So many fun things to do!
