I am also a redhead. As you know we tend to be very fair skinned as well as sensitive skin.. Have been recommended to use aloe for rads. I bought two aloe vera plants and am cutting small pieces of plant daily to use as moisturizer, also after my shower I use a moisturizer for sensitive skin.. Went to my first Physio past surgery yesterday and was told my skin was in very good shape (normally have very dry skin). The sooner yo start moisturizing the better for you (according to my onco nurse who also works in rads,)

My rads start at end of January

This is working well for me, and it doesn't leave a greasy film.  I order it from Amazon, I've been using it for decades on my face as I have very dry, sensitive skin.

I used Lubriderm which was on the recommended skin cream list given to me by the radiation department at my Cancer Agency. I finished radiation on 01 Nov 2011 but continued to use Lubriderm until a few days ago when I read that parabens are a toxin linked to breast cancer and the ingredient list for the Lubriderm I was using shows ... parabens (two diff kinds, even).

    http://www.breastcancerfund.org/clear-science/chemicals-glossary/parabens.html

Now I use cold pressed extra virgin olive oil and my skin feels better. I don't know about using olive oil during radiation but at least try to avoid slathering anything with parabens on your breast!

Oh how I envy the women who sailed through radiation without skin reactions!

I am happy to see good words about Jeans Cream!  I started rads last week and just ordered Jeans Cream last night after finding a review of it with an internet search, and after reading their testimonials.  Hope it works for me.  Thanks!

I am almost through with my RADS 4 to go out of 33. I am using Aquaphor and My Girls Cream. My Girls after morning shower, RADS at 2:00PM, I used the Aquaphor immediately after the treatment, and again at bed time. My skin did turn red, but I have had no pain, peeling or blistering so far. And with only 4 to go, I think I will be getting through this pretty easily.

Starting week 4...using virgin coconut oil twice a day. Barely any redness, just a little itching on the bony area between my teeny little breasts (I'm also thin, so sort of bony in the chest area)...so far so good on the coconut oil and it smells delish and feels amazing when you put it on. I'll keep you all posted on my progress as I get further into treatment.

I just want to update everyone. I'm starting boosts tomorrow.  Saw my RO today while they were setting up my treatment plan for my boosts and his first comment was "wow, your skin looks really good".  I am barely red (and I'm a redhead) and not peeling yet...no blisters, just a few bumps. I have been religiously applying virgin coconut oil after treatment and before bed. I can't say that the coconut oil is responsible or that I will emerge from this without blistering, but so far, I think it is helping keep my skin strong and healthy. It also has antimicrobial properties.

I used Jean's Cream throughout my 6-1/2 weeks of radiation with Aquafor at night. The last two weeks after I finished treatment have been using both Aquafor & Jean's cream. Only some slight redness, no blistering, very little peeling has happened. The area that is darker is the area where I received a boost every day of treatment - which mobly darkened the freckles. I also use a cortisone ointment whenever I have any itching as prescribed by my doctor. She told me if it itches don't scratch or rub, just put on the cortisone ointment 1% as often as needed. :-) Hope this helps someone.
