Ohio Chemo Sisters
I was just curious how many sisters there are from Ohio. I'm from Canton and would love to connect with someone close to home to share this with.

HELLO CANTON!!
Dayton here....or a suburb of it. We're about 3 1/2 hours away from each other....
-
Hi TonLee - I've actually been following you on the TCH and Herceptin Heart Attack threads. I am on TCH right now, just completed 3 of 6. Good to see you!
-
Half way there!!
Good luck to you!
Tonya
-
Hi TonLee -
I live in the Cleveland area. Just finished my 4th TCH 2 days ago - just two more to go. Yeah!! I've been very lucky with only minimal side effects so far. Of course there is the Herceptin every three weeks for a year. I'm going for my Muga scan next week and hoping for good results. All the best to you!! -
Hey Cookie!
Glad you are motoring along...both you and Kellog are on about the same schedule as my cousin in Hamilton Ohio. She was diagnosed in Sept 2011.
I hate BC.
-
I hate BC too...I'm sure we ALL have that in common. Cookie, my youngest DD goes to the Cleveland Institute of Art so I'm in your neighborhood alot. Glad to hear you are handling TCH well.

Hello! Starting pre-surgery chemo soon (can't remember what it's called) for Invasive Ductal Carcinoma 2 masses in left breast. 1 possible in right (need an MRI biopsy since nothing showing on the ultrasound over there but I want both these puppies GONE). My family is smiling and laughing because today (only today) we are happy I have cancer, but cancer that hasn't spread beyond the breast at least from what the CAT, Bone and MRI shows...ugh! Trying to get the oncologist going fast but days between appts seem like MONTHS. Told I have "very" hormonal responsive cancer which my surgeon said should be good news to shrink it down before she chops into me and the reoccurance chance should be lower. I just want to see my 2 1/2 yr old grow up or at least help him make it through those awkward teenage years....this disease SUCKS...but us Ohio broads are pretty tough....so glad just to have a chance....
Oh, I'm just a bit south of Cleveland (Cleveland Clinic). Good luck and prayers to all!
-
7of9 - you are right, us Ohio girls are tough! Sorry you had to join us but welcome. This website is a terrific place to get advice, vent or just read along and feel like someone actually knows what you are going through. I'm in Canton, so not too far from you!
-
Don't count me out automatically if you all ever get together! I may be hours away, but I might be able to swing a road trip
-
We won't forget you Tonya....you've been my inspiration so far!
-
Thanks Kelly.
That made my day.
-
All you northern girls, it's Cincinnati here! I'm more than halfway through neoadjuvant chemo, just finished round 4 out of 6. Two more hits, then it's bye bye boobies, can't wait to get them off me. Then radiation and then a rebuild somewhere down the line. This site has been a huge help to me through chemo and at least we can go through it together!
-
Welcome to the Ohio thread drwendy!
-
Parma Ohio chiming in. Did 6 TCH at the Hope Center in Warren, Ohio then moved to Parma. I have been going back to Warren for all the Herceptin. One more to go!!
-
Kelloggs,
I used to live in Massillon. Where are you doing treatment?
-
sewingnut - I go to Aultman Hospital. I grew up in Jackson. By the way I assume fromn yur handle that you sew? My mom is a quilter. Where in Massillon did you live?
-
sewingnut - by the way...congrats on only one Herceptin left to go! I am doing 6 TCH and Herceptin for a year also...and I am jealous!
-
We lived on 10 st NE. Could see Massillon hospital from my back porch. We used to rent a house off of Arlington in Jackson. Long time ago I used to be a pharmacy tech at Aultman. I sew and quilt for fun =:0)
-
sewingnut - sweet! What a small world!
-
Kelloggs,
OMG, I just looked at your bio. I'm a CPC and did billing & coding for a podiatrist in Girard until we moved to Parma.
-
Dayton area here - a little south of Dayton, actually. I'm done with all treatments now (except antihormonals) and though there still isn't a day I don't think about the r-word it is getting easier.
-
I am not from Ohio but Isee that you ER+ PR+ and HER2+and so am I. I was diagnosed in Oct 2011 also. I was interested in what your treatment plan is. Iam still in shock and do not know what to expect.
Bev
-
just moved back to Ohio to be near my grown kids for tx..i am in Elyria...raised my kids in Lorain County but i grew up in Rocky River....
-
Bev - no problem. I am on TCH X6 and then Herceptin alone to finish a year. Then rads and some type of hormone therapy. There is a triple positive thread you should check out....very knowledgeable ladies. I'm sorry you had to join us, but we are all here to help each other through this journey.
sewingnut - small world again, I am a CCS-P and the billing manager for the intensivist / pulmonary group at Aultman. Are you still in the field?
Welcome sundermom and Lympynme. Tonlee is from the Dayton area. Lumpynme I think I posted to you on another thread. Can't believe you had to move in the middle of all this! Hope things are settling down for you a bit.
-
kelly-yes i think we have "talked"--it was my choice to move before starting tx--but it has been a horrid experience rushing to get things done--since i have lymph nodes effected i want to get tx started soon ...i really have no clue what my body is going to be like once i start anything and i basically did 99% of the packing and moving--my partner is not physically able anymore and i wanted the help of my kids for my "care"
now that i am here i have been pingponged between MO and surgeon..hopefully it is straight now and stuff will start to happen....
-
Kelloggs,
I had to quit my job when we moved to Parma for my husbands job. I am torn between trying to find another job in the field or be the Walmart greeter =;0) Seriously, during chemo I was glad I had a job that was done in snipets because I couldnt remember modifiers and was constantly looking stuff up. I was proud of the 99% clean claim rate I had. The accts receivable gal told me the clean claim rate now is down to 75%.
-
lumpy - I hope things get straightened out for you now and you can start treatment. It's good that you are near family now....enjoy them!
sewingnut - Some days I wish I was the Walmart Greeter! 99% is awesome! I run a pretty tight ship too with less than 30 days in A/R. If you ever come back down this way and want a job...you're hired!
-
Kelloggs,
I didn't realize my average was so high until we went all electronic. Gateway gave us the stats every month. Miss working though. DH wants me to heal before I start to look for something here. I worked for the kindest Doc ever!!
-
sewingnut - My group of docs are wonderful too and I've been there over 10 years. We went on electronic medical records a year and a half ago and I love it! If you have the ability to not work now, I would totally focus on treatment and getting better. There will always be time to work when this is over and in our field there is always a demand. I'm kinda jealous, I'd stay home through this in a heartbeat!
-
I'm still here....just not much to say.
Yes I am outside Dayton in a suburb to the southeast. Only about 50 minutes from Cincy!
