WTF???? again...

Options

O.k. I have been cancer free for 8 years. Constant survelance, mri and mammo every 6 months and followed by oncologist and surgical oncologist 2x a year. Last MRI in July showed a suspicious area in my right breast (previously cancer in left breast). Repeat mri Jan 14th. Showed right breast clear and new finding in left breast. Needle biopsy guided mri done last friday, results today new cancer cells in left breast. WTF! I have surgical oncologist appt tomorrow, and I believe the discussion will be mascectomy and god knows what else!!

Just as a side bar, my husband passed away Dec 4th 2011 of cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) that was diagnosed in June of 2011. Not sure I can handle anymore..... or my kids.

Gosh, that is a lot to go through.  I am so sorry.  But you will get through it.  If there is one thing I have learned from this is that we are all stronger than we ever knew.

I truly hate to hear about this new development. As a Mom of a breast cancer survior for one year with a new dx just before Christmas of liver metastasis, I can somewhat feel your pain. This is a very hard time for all of us, and the only thing we can do is LET GO AND LET GOD take care of it for us. It is too big for us. Besides we are too emotionally involved to make decisons He would have us to make. I have done a lot of thinking about that phrase if God doesn't put more on us than we can handle. The best I have come up with and I think it is probably true is that we are supposed to carry our burdens to Him. We are to go boldly before God and unload our hearts to Him about all of our worries and cares. Then we are to let them go for him to handle and everytime we get to worrying and fretting about those problems we raise our arms to God giving thanks for the healing and for the problem solving. If we carry our cares to Him and let Him have them, then we never will have more than we can handle. But just think, we always mess it up anyway, so why not let Him have them? We can't solve them anyway. So I tell you, just as I tell myself, LET GO and LET GOD. By thanking him for my daughters healing everytime I think about it (which is almost every minute), I raise my hands to him and thank Him for her healing.Believe it or not it does take away the panicky feeling and gives me some peace. I encourage you to try it. God Bless You.

I saw surgical oncologist and  double mascectomy recommended. She also is recommending silicone implants....any thoughts? She says because of my scar tissue from radiation and diabetes. It is hard to diagnosed if further treatment will be needed.

So sorry to hear of your recurrence.  It is just so frustrating because you were followed so closely...but then again.. them following you closely hopefully means that they caught it at an early stage.  Hugs to you and I hope you are able to find some support to help you during such an unfairly rough time in your life.

So sorry to hear of your recurrence. I am so sorry to hear that your husband just passed away. I can only imagine how angry, hurt and scared you are. It is not fair for one person to have all that suffering. You need a break, I am giving you a big cyberhug. I am hoping this is a going to be a manageable journey and with good results.

Unbelievable. My brother died of a Glioblastoma (brain tumor) 12 days before I GOT DIAGNOSED with BC...back to back blows.  I have some idea where you are and how blindsided you are.  The grief is like an endless tsunami.  How do you even know where to start to grieve??????

Please seek counseling and form your support army...........I am a therapist myself, and had to seek therapy to cope with one blow after another after another.

Let us know how we can help.

I can understand the words you're saying. I am almost 7 years past initial breast cancer for dcis and had a mastectomy. My mom passed away in October from lymphoma and in January I was diagnosed with invasive cancer in the same breast even though I had a mastectomy. Cancer really sucks! I hope you find strength and peace in knowing that you are not alone. This forum for communication is a great way to find support. Of course the most important thing is to keep believing that you will be free of this disease. Prayers are powerful.
