What did you wear before prosthesis

Options

Here's a silly question... what did you/are you wearing before you got fitted for a mastectomy bra and prosthesis?  I came home from the hospital with 2 surgical bras which itched me (I still have a rash on my chest, allergy to dermabond) so I've been wearing my hubby's cotton t-shirts under my tops.  I have 2 silk cammies that I've worn when 'dressing up' (but prefer the t-shirts).

Are you asking for what to wear under your shirts?

After my bmx with no reconstruction I did find that wearing the camisoles that came with the drain pouches (minus the drain pouches when the drains were gone) felt really good under my tops for awhile. Mine did come with very soft inserts for the bra portion, but I was not interested in that. Eventually I had no need for the camies anymore.

I love not having breasts and not having to wear bras. BUT, I realize this is not for everyone.

Maybe some one will come along and help you out.

I wore one of those tube top like sports bras with thin straps for a while.  I had a UMX, my hubby called me a piddidle (like a car with one light) :)  It didn't bother me to go boobless, my surgeon said I had to wait 4 weeks.  I ended up with a fabric prothesis, which I HATE, and a silicon amoena contact which I love. It moves with me, sticks to me and I can wear it with lingerie If I feel the need.  It doesn't need a pocket... :)

I wore Cotton tee-shirts they felt good next to my skin, Latter on I got some coobie bras and worn them, I didn't wear my prosthesis and Mastectomy bras for about 6 months out of surgery, It wasn't until then did they feel good against my chest. I usually only wear my prosthesis when going to work or church . I just go without any chance I get.

Until I got my silicone prosthesis, I wore genie bras with the lightweight forms that came with my post-surgical camisole.  The genie bras supported my remaining breast well enough and were not too painful on my drain sites/mx site.

Really, I used no filler at all with those bras (went flat on one side) when doing anything other than going to work.  I still go flat and wear the genie bra for support for my remaining breast most the time out of work.    The genie bra is stretchy enough that there is no excess material over the flat side, but supportive enough for the remaining D size breast...

For me, Silk cami's are the best. I do have several prosthetics but 95% of the time, I don't wear them. I feel they aggrevate lymphedema, the straps are too tight, and I still have discomfort with a frozen shoulder...nothing ever feels comfortable or pain- free while wearing a bra.

I think my silk cami collection is the best thing that came from breast cancer, I feel pretty elegant in them and wear one every day...

I have another question here. My BS says no bra for 5 weeks. The remaining side is a 71 year old D cup, which desparately needs lifting in public and for comfort. I have a couple of camis with shelf bras--don't know if they will be OK or not. They don't do much in the way of support. I'm a volunteer receptionist at the senior center and can't figure out any way to dress that will work.
