What bandaging supplies do you use?

I am about to buy a second set of bandaging supplies, and would love your recommendations on what to get (and avoid!). I don't know what brand of finger wraps I currently use, but I find it annoying to work with (catches on everything, hard to get clean), and based on the discussion of a separate thread, I am going to buy some KT finger wraps.

I would like advice on what brands, sizes and number to get of the following:

Short stretch bandages
Padding (does this serve the same function as the "fluffy" roll)?
Stockingnette stuff
and anything else I forgot ...

I also have a newbie question. I know that one of the reasons for washing bandaging supplies is to get the elasticity back. With respect to elasticity, does the frequency of rewashing depend on the number of times the bandages are wrapped, or †he total number of hours the bandages are on? The reason I ask is that, I'm bandaged 24/7, but my LE therapist is having me wrap twice a day (more compression during the day than at night).

Many, many thanks! KS1

KS1, I wash my bandages once a week, per my therapist. I wear them every night.

I personally use an extra bandage on the hand:

    4 cm on the hand

6 cm over that, to the wrist

8 cm wrist to above elbow

Two 10 cm, wrist to axilla

    Base=cotton stockinette

Rosidal soft for foam up the arm

I also use gray foam inserts on the hand/forearm.

Since the shipping charges are high, I tend to order a couple of sets at a time.

    When I bandage, I use

    KT Medical fingerbands

    Stockingette

Rosidal soft foam wrapped michilin man style to underarm

6cm comprilan short stretch on hand and wrist

8cm comprilan at wrist, forearm and upper arm

10 cm comprilan starting right above wrist up to underarm.

I wrap rarely now, I use a daytime sleeve and a nighttime tribute garment from solaris. (Once you're out of active therapy I recommend looking into the tribute.). When I have to wrap in active therapy, I have 3 + sets of bandages so I always have ones clean and unwrinkled. After I wear them a few times, I find they tend to slip or wrinkle more, so I only do 3 days of bandaging before I wash them. I use new fingerbands every day. I machine wash my bandages in mesh bags and fold them over a quilt rack to dry. I do bleach the finger wraps... They get dirty fast. I order more sets at once to save on shipping.

Good luck and hang in there!!!
