So confused...15 year old on an anxiety medication?

Options

So,

My 15 year old has been very anxious since I was diagnosed.

It has now been 2 years and she is still extremely anxious.

So much so that the Dr. wants her to try Zoloft or Effoxer?  I am very uncomfortable with starting my teen on something like this.  She was recently diagnosed with POTS which has to do with her heart, blood pressure and anxiety.  We are seeking a second opinion from a POTS expert next week but I was just wondering if any of you have any experience with this situation?

She is on a beta-blocker and something for her blood pressure...

Thanks.

Oh Ang, crap!  I'm really sorry that your daughter is having such troubles particularly because she is so young.  Anxiety and or stress of any kind can and does raise ones blood pressure sometimes to dangerous levels and if your DD is already on meds for hers and her doc feels that she may need something to help control the anxiety which in turn will help the control of the blood pressure I would be inclined to follow his/her recommendation.  I know she is very young but uncontrolled hypertension is dangerous no matter what your age.

    Good luck.

    Love n hugs.  Chrissy

I know it's very hard to see a child have to take these meds. My son has very bad depression and anxiety. We finally decided to try the meds They made a huge positive difference and his quality of life has improved tremenously. I feel for you and your daughter. Maybe just try the meds and see how it goes. Best of luck to you.
