THe Hilton in the city was OK - close to a bus to Annie's house.
-
and next to the markets
-
I think that time of year they have offers as well so may be able to get a deal.
-
Just got home from work and was hoping to see a message from Kate. Having been thinking of her...
OK day at work today. Our offices are quite stuffy so ended up having to take a Maxolon about mid-morning because I felt a little ill. Rest of the day went OK but today I feel like my brain and body are seperated somehow. Weird feeling...
My head is getting itchier and lots more strands fell today, although at least at work there's dark carpet around my desk so it wasn't obvious ;-)
Jenn -
Jenn - go and get it buzzed - much less traumatic I reckon.
-
Hi Ladies.
Well I have to say that as far as things go, that was a peice of cake. What on earth was I worried about? I didn't feel anything at all the entire time. I know that is probably only a couple of days away, but for the moment I am feeling terrific.
So much so, that I took my little support crew (daugher and SIL) out for a lovely counter lunch at an absolutely gorgeous old art deco sytle hotel and I even imbibed in my daily quota of alcohol.
So I am feeling quite cruizy...
Maybe this is the calm before the storm or maybe not. They gave me Emend to take for the next two days plus I had one before the infusion oh and I pee'd bright pink!
-
Kate - glad to hear it was OK. :-)
Did you get more than the Emend?
We're off to an 18th party. I'm tossing up on having a wine...
Jenn -
Hi Jenn. Go for the wine. You deserve it. I specifially asked the nurses if it could be counter productive with the chemo, and she said no not at all.
I only got the Emend. I have got my little card for the ED if I am in strife though to be given priority. I guess I will learn from this first one if I need more medicinal support.
Oh and I will be getting a port. She had a lot of trouble finding my vein and in the end the machine kept beeping and she said my vein was getting tired. I have the biggest bruise on the back of my hand too. So when I see my MO I am to ask him to organise a port.
Sorry about your hair Jenn. This lady came in for her chemo and she was as bald as a badger, and today was only her 3rd session. That was a bit confronting that it happens so early on.
-
Kate - that's what's really annoyed me for the first treatment - they wait and see what happens, they don't load you up with scripts just in case. I had to call my onc out of hours to get something phoned through. Fingers crossed you have a better time than I did the first time.
-
Kate, good to hear that you are having no SE's as yet. I get so cross when the docs take no notice when we ask for things aka port, extra meds etc and use the wait and see approach......... it,s about time they realised that all this crap does damage and do a port as a first step and trust us enough to take extra meds when needed and not abuse them. I'm sure we are not going to fill a script if we didn't need it.
Well I now have another little pill to add to the collection.......yes, I now have a statin to try and control the cholesterol........thank you Femara! I guess I shouldn't winge......lol........I am alive!
Love n hugs all. Chrissy

2 glasses of red and some great company. It was a good night :-)
See you tomorrow Trish.
Jenn -
You deserve a nice night Jenn at the end of a tough week.
-
Kate, gently & softly massage the bruise regularly - advice I was given to avoid blood clots - after i got one (doh).
Glad it went well and hope you avoid the nausea s/e's
Jenn I got my hair shaved off as soon as it started falling out, but it is personal preference for everyone. I personally thougth it would be depressing and more confrontational to be pulling handfuls out so the instant it started coming out that way i got rid of it all. You do whatever you feel most comfortable with. Gotta admit by the time I was bald, I just wore the little cap for chemo treatments. Figured no point in wearing wigs when eveyone else is in the same boat lolol.
Hope you both feel well adn that everyone else is in fine form for the weekend.
-
something-rated warning....
Seems a couple of wines and a good night out helped prove that "everything" stills works for us after chemo #1....
;-) -
lmao, good onya Jenn. Very happy for you and your partner. Have a great weekend
-
Jenn, you are hilarious! That is public on the internet, you know! Don't worry; noone will find it :-) .
-
Ok... changed the first "x" wording slightly so it doesn't show up in internet searches ;-) I reckon the rest of the wording is obscure enough :-)
Jenn -
I was joking. Have a nice date this morning.
-
Oooo Jenn, good for you!!!
-
Trish and I had a lovely date this morning :-)
Coffee and a little sweet something and some good conversation. It's raining and storming here today and so Trish is going to be very challenged taking the wedding photos this afternoon!
regards Jenn -
Oh that's great that you got to share a cuppa and a little something sweet with Trish. I sure hope the weather clears enough for the wedding!
Well DD2 will be here in a few minutes to pick DD1 an I up and head on out to our lunch....I am so looking forward to spending the time with both my girls at the same time.
Love n hugs all. Chrissy

Mornign glories! Well nonthing of signifciance to report at this stage. Probably the only thing was that I started to sweat proffously from my hair and head it was just pouring down, so I had to consutantly use a towel. Mind you it was very hot and muggy and everyone was perspiring a bit, but my sweating was over the top.
I had a great apeitite and at the BBQ and apart from my eyes getting gritty a couple time, that is all I can.
I have taken my emend this morning, and might not take the last tomorrow until after I see how I go. I want it up my sleeve in case I really need it.
So all in all - I think I'm going goood~!
Whoo howw Jenn ! Glad you had such lovely way to end your week and that catching up with Thrisa must have been a treat.
-
Take it easy Kate.
-
Good to hear you are doing well today Kate!
Jenn -
Kate - do as you're told and take it tomorrow - you'll need it.
-
Hey everyone i'm new to the site but i live in Adelaide
. I am in the diagnosing stage really had a us and mam on fri but won't know the results till monday apart from being told they could see calcium but wasn't 100% sure.
-
Kate - listen to Susie (and me)... Take the Emend tomorrow...
Pommygal - welcome :-). Wish you weren't here with us, but if you have to be here this is a great group.
regards Jenn -
Ok, OK I'll listen to the experts
Welcome Pommygirl. You have found the best place to be here. We are all at various stages of diagnois and treatment and there is a lot of practical advice, previous expereience and a bit dose of good old hand-holding always going on. Sorry you're here too. Kate
-
Good girl Kate :-)
By the way, how are you getting the Herceptin without treatment with a taxane "T" treatment as well? It's an Australian PBS rule that Herceptin is not covered without having chemo including a "T". Has your oncologist talked about that?
regards Jenn -
Hi Pommygirl, welcome to BCO and this thread. I'm in Aelaide at the moment but I live in Burra. I'll PM you my phone numbers so please feel free to use them. To get a PM just go to the top of the page and click on Private Messages ( it will show a number next to it) and then just click on the message title to open it.
Where you are in this journey is pretty tough as you are caught between knowing and not knowing.
Kate good to hear that you are still feeling okay but there is still time to crash so please take it easy and take your emend in the morning.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
