    Kelloggs:  12/8/11  T(axotere) C(arboplatin) H(erceptin) X6 every 3 weeks, then Herceptin alone for 1 yr., Rads and hormone therapy to follow.  I'm a lucky triple positive!

    Momof2inmE: 1/9/12 DD A/C x 4, then Taxol/Herceptin weekly x 12, continue Herceptin 1 year. Rads and Hormone therapy as well. (S3, G2, ER+/PR+, HER2+)

    I'm also 37, a LEO, and like long walks on the beach....Laughing

    Day 7 from tx and I did manage to work a full 7hrs (from home) yesterday :-) It was very tiring though and boy were my eyes blurry from looking at the computer screen.



    I can tell my white cell count has dropped. My gums are pale and I don't feel "right". Oh, and my monthly arrived yesterday so there goes all those red blood cells (it's always been heavy)!



    My tx is in my signature :-) Except I just had to fix the year...

    Deb267 - I love the idea of a BC gathering in St. Augustine.  I'm in GA too.

     Ely / Jennt28 - can you point me to the research that taxol x 12 every wk instead of DD 4 AC and 4 Taxol every two weeks is better??   I am supposed to do the DD  4 AC every 2 wks and 4 Taxol every 2 wks.

    Didn't get much sleep last night.  I guess it was from the steroids.  Also had some wicked heartburn.

    I stayed home today to rest and was able to nap a bit.

    CJRT- Taxotere, Carboplatin, and Herception every 3 weeks x 6 ( had 3 prior to surgery and just started the final 3 on 1/4) - Followed by Herceptin every 3 weeks for the remainder of the year - followed by Tamoxifin for 5 years

    Yolanda - Dx 11/23/11 chemo 12/13/11 TCHx6 Herceptin X 11 to follow mastecomy of Unaffected side node removal then ads X33. Also had 6 iron infusions and blood transfusion.

    BMX with immediate TE on 11/11/11.

    Doing 4 x's TC, started 12/29

    Probably rads to incision scar (no nodal involvement)

    5 years Tamoxifen after all this...

    Oncotype Score 16

    Hi Cat...

    I am doing weekly taxol x 12 after my A/C. My onc told me the SE's are less when you do it weekly instead of DD. I think it's just what your onc prefers and how you handle the SE's.

    Whoa! You ladies have been busy posting! There is so much to catch up on. I try to read through them when I get an email notifications.

    My SE have calmed down quite a bit. I have noticed that when I take my RA pain med it makes me naseated. It used to never do that, so now I have to figure out what I am going to do there. I guess I could take a nausea med with it but that seems like so much medicine. jeezzz i don't know! 

    My head itches like crazy!! I think I am going to shave it off soon. I don't want that tight ponytail feeling. That doesn't sound pleasent at all. 

    I went to my first day of school today. My instructors are all on board and very supportive. I think I am really going to like this semester. It will work out just fine! It has too, right?!

    I hope everyone is having a fairly good week. I think of you all everyday and wonder how everyone is doing. Those of us with kids, without kids, grown up kids, teaching kids.... lol It's not been easy for me. But now that my energy is back a little I am going to use these next 13 days to enjoy them.

    Kite - I will find out tomorrow about radiation. I get my BRCA test results and if positive, the boobs are coming off. No radiation will be necessary since there was no node involvement -- not sure which I prefer at this point....surgery or radiation.

    My tx is DD - 4 AC, then 4 Taxol. Should be done by April.

    Well Im on day 12 and wake up to find Im shedding down below. TMI??

    So I check my hair on my head and its lightly shedding. Now as the day goes on, it feels a little sore. Also some eyebrows are falling.

    So I wonder if it will really all happen on day 14??

    Im just freaking out and ready to get past this. UGH!!!

    Anyone else??

    Char- Let me know! I tested negative but have already had the surgery. I just didn't want to mess with having two different boobs. Plus even though it was negative I still would of had to watch it ALL the time. I don't think I am doing it. I have no node involment either. Most ladies are doing radiation no matter what just to cover all bases. I haven't met anyone yet who isn't.

    Shell-- I am constantly pulling at my hair. It's driving me nuts, the waiting. Like I said I think I'll shave it early next week. Just be done with it.

    Kite- I'm not doing RADs. I did not have node involvement, opted for a NSBMX, and was told by my tumor board I only needed RADs if I did a lumpectomy.  They didn't act as though I had a choice of RADs with the MX in my situation. Glad to hear your SE's have calmed down and classes started off well!  It'll be a great distraction from all of this! What are you going to school for?

    Nancy - that is a good idea!  It might make it easier to compare SEs if we know the specific treatment etc.

    Kite - I'm doing radiation.  I figured I've done everything else, I might as well throw the radiation in too.  I had node involvement so it make sense to be aggressive.

    I might shave the hair  this weekend.  My husband volunteered to do the honors.  He also gives me the neulasta shot since my mo isn't open on Saturdays. What a guy! My barber and nurse!

    Hello ladies I would like to join your group.  I will have to learn the abbreviations.  My second treatment will be on Monday.  Taxotere and Cytoxan 4X.  BRCA 2 positive.  Onco results 38 ouch.  I am so hopeful that round 2 goes as well as round 1.  Thank you for being an inspiration!

    Hey guys, hope you don't mind if I join in.

    6 tx's of Taxotere/Carboplatin/Herceptin, then Herceptin every 3 weeks for a year and 5 years of Tamoxifen.  Had my 2nd tx a week ago.  So far the trend this tx seems to be the same as the first.  Day 1 - acid indigestion  Day 3,4,5 bone and joint pain   Day 6,7,8 cramping and diarrhea.  Last time I didn't really feel like myself again until day 10.  Can't wait to be through with chemo.  Also, I am not doing rads, had BMX with reconstruction.  Rads wasn't even offered as part of my tx.

    I kept most of my hair until day 23, then I had too many bald spots to  cover and scalp was so tender I had my husband give me a bur cut.  I look like GI Jane without the rockin hot bod.

    tkeller - Welcome, and good luck with your tx 2. 

    I'm not doing radiation. Had a bmx, and no positive nodes.

    I'm brca2+, so the ovaries are next on the list. Not sure when I'll do that, but since I'd be 45 before I'd be allowed to get pregnant (they say no pregnancy for 2 years after chemo because of potential complications), I might as well take care of that. I didn't have enough time between meeting my onc and setting up some fertility treatments, and insurance wouldn't pay. So that door is pretty much slammed shut. That was really the hardest thing for me to cope with, although being 42 now, I had seen the door closing slowly for a few years anyway. It just was devasting to hear the deadbolt lock.

    I'm still dealing with bald spots. I'm amazed some of my hair is holding out so much. Maybe I should go out and buy a hair clipper, but I'd never use it again. I just keep my head covered in public. When it's all gone I'll try going commando. Once I got it buzzed short, it no longer bothered me when I lay down (if you haven't had that yet - it's like laying your head on a steel wool pad. It's really weird).

    Welcome teller and Judy.

    CJRT I was offered but only because I had more than 1mm of margins. Which still in a text book says is NOT criteria for Rads. I feel like getting a second opinion but the my BS said he wouldn't do it or let his wife do it and that is my second opinion... lol. He said the long term effects for me didn't out way the good. For my situation.

    Judy-- I am on the same tx. I am day 7 past my first dose. I had the cramping, diarreah on day 2,3,4 and just tired the rest of the days. Now I feel great. You never know how good feels until you feel so bad. I am wondering if the cramping and diarreah are from the stool softners they were having me take due to constipation from nausea meds. I will take half of what they told me to next time. I also heard that Aloe Vera juice helps with constipation, there is no cramping. You can get it at WalMart for around $8. It's worth a try for me.

    Rachelvx - I loved you big hair post!!!  I am sure you DO look beautiful!  Embrass that. 

    momof3boys-  Your post about you boy made me cry.  Remember, Children are resilient and I think you can gain alot of strength with the knowledge that you need to fight this for them.

    When I was diagnosed the first time around in 07.  My Gyn called me on the phone and said "sorry but you have cancer".  I collapsed in a heap on the kitchen floor and I was alone with my 8 year old.  It was devastating and I felt so bad to let him see me like that!!  But after that awful day I would have never made it through without him.  Knowing I needed all my strength and courage for my beautiful little boy is what got me through emotionally.

    Had my first round yesterday.  It would have went fine but......my boy missed the bus.....on the way to school we can across a car trying to get large lab mix dog out of road.  Guy came along to help and dog tried to bite him.  Women kept saying " you do it I.m pregnant".   Ok I have a child in my car and scheduled to start chemo in 2 hours......I need to be attacked by injured dog.

    I am a big animal lover but I really didn't know what to do...looked like it had been hit.  Anyway it started to run up road and I am blowing my horn to try to alert traffic and big truck comes over hill and runs right into him in front of my son and I!!!  Long story short..we pull dog out of road and watch it die.....horrible

    So I finally get to infusion and I am already pretty shaken.....I have had no chemo school and am told to find a seat.  IT might as well be an auditorium!!!  I had no idea there was no privacy and I would be sitting with a whole bunch of people in a busy room.  Told me mom "nope I can't do this"   went to front desk and said I am really not comfortable in this environment.  She went and got my nurse...who was wonderful and she sat and talked to me and got me through the whole thing.  The rest was uneventful.

    WHY couldn't a nurse have met me at the door?????  Would have prevented alot of anxiety for nothing?????

    So sorry about the rant!!!!

    Kite ~ I also did not have radiation, all nodes were negative and I had a BMX no Recon.  My Surgean and Onc Doc's (both of them) said I did not need radiation.  That was also reinforced when the Isotope test during surgery found no visable cancer cells and my margins were good as well.  My surgeon was the only one to actually see the tumor complete and she felt confident she got it all, which makes me feel really good...I wish her confidence was all I needed vs. the Chemo!

    Ladies ~ I was wondering if any of you are still doing Physical Therapy

    Off to my second infusion...looking forward to it....not really...but 2 AC down, to 2 go...boy this first 2 weeks flew by.
