Wendyspet, you look like you have a real haircut to me. You look great. I M 16 weeks PFC and I rbink you have more hair. I still have some thin areas and I also have the Jamie L Curis colour. Will probably go to the salon at 5 months.
Kymm, what can I say that others haven't. You look fabulous. -
Kim you look like a picture from the short hair styles magazine

Today I discovered.straightener spray and a flat iron. It was a lot of work straightening my Bozo the clown curls. My husband was looking funny at me and then said that he didn't think he had ever seen that wig before. Pretty funny, but I feel more like a normal person.
-
I seem to recall posts about people using some sort of powder (?) on their scalps (under their wigs). I am in the middle of treatments (Taxotere/Cytoxan) and my scalp is so itchy. What did you use for relief? Thank you!

Hello! I'm new to this...my hair is just barely starting to grow after four weeks of AC. I'm now on Taxol and Herceptin and my eyebrows and lashes are thinning like crazy. Did anyone lose these and how long did it take them to come back? I'm hoping after the Taxol, they will come back/fill in right away but I'm not sure if I'm expecting too much. Thank you!!
-
Hi All, All these posts about hair give me hope. I have my last taxol/hercpetin this coming Friday and then 2 months before I begin chemo agian. I have about 1/2 inch of hair now that didn't fallout, thin, but still some there. Should i expect any growth in the next two months? Does everyone get curly hair at first or does it stay. How long does it have to get before you can begin to come it over? Right now, it is just standing up straight!
Thanks
]Nel

Kimn....you are excited that you have hair long enough to straighten. Today it is 4 years since my DX and I'm thrilled to STILL have my curly chemo hair. Nel...that kind of answers your question. I love spraying and crunching and I'm set to go! Pre chemo I had hair straight as sticks.
-
Nel you still have 1/2 hair that didnt' fall out. Good for you. I don't think that's typical with taxol. Your hair will come in with more wave or curl than you had before except maybe if you are Asian from what I see. My hair was pretty straight before and now has some wave. It first came in feeling more like fur. About 8 months later the texture seemed more like hair than fur. I keep it short and blow dry it out. I do feel it's finally starting to relax a bit more. I'm almost 1 year PFC. Here's my hair transition link that others have already seen: linky

Wendyspet, you have inspired me to call my hairdresser tomorrow. I am at the same stage, and I think I am ready to move on. My hair has come in black and white - crazy since I was a medium auburn before. I think that if it was back to a "normal" color, it would give me the boost I need to try going topless for the first time.
Thanks for your post!
-
ILBoysMom mine came in black and white and I was brown before (although dyed it auburn). I dyed it the day after I went topless. I looked so old and washed out with salt and pepper hair.
-
Hi JulieLynn - I lost my eyelashes and eyebrows towards the end of Taxol, but I wasn't on Herceptin so this may not apply. My lashes and brows were pretty much back to normal about 8 weeks PFC.
-
Julielynn
Had the same treatment as you... lost all my eyelashes and eyebrows a few weeks after treatment ended..I am now 13 weeks PFC and eylashes are all back (till short but growing) eyebrows are also coming back.. Still on Herceptin so hair grows slow
-
lashes and brows thinned onc chemo but not too bad. The fell out about 5 weeks PFC but grew back quickly… then thinned again. My lashes are thinner but don't look too bad. My brows are thinner than they were on chemo. Both continue to fall and regrow but still never looking great. My onc said last April it was from chemo. I'm starting to think it's from Anastrozole but they do seem to grow too. Just still much too thin. Hair on head is still thicker than ever.
-
Wow Kymn - you look gorgeous. Love it!
Julielynn - my eyelashes disappeared completely in the early stages of Taxol. My eyebrows got patchy but fell out completely a few weeks after I finished.
The have both come back quickly. My eyelashes are now long enough to mascara and my brows are good. I'm 14 weeks PFC.
-
kymn, i just LOVE your hair. it's an adorable style, similar to the way i used to wear my hair when i had it, just not quite as short as yours. you look fabulous!!
-
Wow Kymm your hair is beautiful love the style I am 10 weeks post chemo. My son saw me today 1st time in a week he said my hair had grown alot in a week and I looked like a Chia Pet also said I had bed head and needed to start combing my hair.I cant see it getting any longer so did make my day .Lol
-
Kymn, I am jealous! You look fabulous!
I still hardly have eye lashes! My chemo curl is starting to show!
-
Juliet, I had taxotere, but I think it is similar to taxol. I also lost most of my eyebrows. They started growing back 3 weeks after last chemo. They are not all back yet (5 week mark now), but they are getting better.
-
Everyone...this is what happened to me and others on the threads. The lashes and brows came back and for some reason they fell out like 'clockwork' every three months. They continued on this schedule for 3 1/2 years. Now they are long like they were before BC. Don't be shocked if this happens. Ohhhh, the after affects of poison, eh?
Take care.
-
Kymm I love your style and the highlights!!! How soon did you get the highlights???
I am 9 weeks PFC Thursday and have the salt and pepper thing going on. I used to be blonde think I could go topless now but the colour is soooooo aging, not that the chemo and radiation wasn't ughhhhhh!!!!! Wendy love your hair too!!! Eyelashes and eyebrows that fell out after last taxol are coming in really well no more eyebrow pencil for me and have started wearing mascara but I think it looks a little riduculous on my short lashes LOL.
-
Kymn - ROCK IT! I'm 6 months PFC and found the 1/2 straightener to be my new BFF - LOL!
I lost all lashes and brows on taxol too - then again at 5 months PFC they thinned again. Thank God for eyebrow pencil and the fake lashes I wore on occassion. Chemo sucks!
Sandy - congrats on bed head!!!! That's a major milestone

-
Thanks for the info artsee. I can't believe I have to deal with this for another 2.5 years. Oh well at least I know I'm not crazy and thank goodness for Anastasia brow duo
-
Kymn, You look fantastic!!!! You look so cute , I would never know you had BC
-
Thanks everyone, that makes me feel really good. I do finally feel like my hair looks like a real hair cut and not some funny regrowth. As for Colour I dyed my hair very blond to start about 2 1/2 months PFC and I did that twice before it was long enough to get some foils in to get the highlights which was just last week. While it was really short the platinum blond worked but as it gets a bit longer I wanted it to look softer.I used a blow dryer on low setting and a comb and straightner to get rid of the curl and then use my product to shape my hair in the direction I want. I use Thrill by Oasis its amazing.
sandy I remember the first time I got up and I had bed head lol it was bitter sweet for sure.
Have to run, at work
Hugs to all, enjoy whatever stage your in...we earned it
-
wendyspet I would def. go topless you have enough hair for that and it looks great!!
Kymn I am so jealous!!! I am taking your pic to my hairdresser. It is time I get a trim.
-
Has anyone had their eyelashes grow in straight? Mine have no curl at all. My hair is also flat; it sticks to the side of my head. I think I'm getting a little mullet on top: 16 weeks PFC. Oh brother.
-
Kym. Looking great. I have hair envy
. I am 3 months PFC but am still on Herceptin, Did or are you on Herceptin? -
Yes my eyelashes are growing in straight LOL I think when they get longer they may start to have a little curl. This for sure is crappy. Just thankful to have some hair growing back.
-
cdairth yeah my lashes are straight, hiar is curly, i never had to use an eyelash curler before. Funny thing is I only lost some lashes I never lost very much. I didn't notice they how much they had thinned until they grew back.
-
Lashes: straight, but long (using Latisse and love it).
Hair (what there is of it): straight, no chemo curls yet.
Neck: Cold!
