Zometa

Options

I hope this is the right place to put this thread. There doesn't seem to be a single thread about Zometa, its side effects and use.

I had stage 2 breast cancer, 5/24 lymphnodes removed, ER+, PR+, no hereditary involvement. I am on Tamoxifen and Zoladex.

This week I will have my second Zometa infusion, which is being used preventatively. I am anxious about this because I feel I am finally able to use my body without much pain and discomfort and I fear this will introduce new bone pain and be a set back to my progress. I am grateful to have the medicine and use it, I just wonder if you guys experienced bone pain.

I seem to remember that my bone pain was pretty intense when I had the first infusion but then, I had just started taking Tamox and Zoladex at that time too.

I was diagnosed in August with stage 4(from the get go)and have been on Zometa once a month(and have chemo/Taxol 3 times a month).  I have had no side effects from the Zometa that I know of and my 2nd PET scan in December showed that my bones are being strengthened(have the cancer in all the bones from neck to pelvis).....only occasional "bone pain" when I'm doing something continually for an hour or so - computer work etc.....so good luck and I hope all goes well!

I just had my second Zometa infusion about a week ago, I'm going to say no SEs.  However a few hours after the first time I had a great deal of pain in bones and joints that lasted for a several hours.  For whatever reason it did not happen last week, so I'm thinking so far so good.

    good luck
