Itching
This might sound like a strange question but has anyone experienced EXTREME itching in their BC breast. I'm scheduled for surgery 1/24 but lately I get this extreme itching all the time at the nipple area of the breast that has the BC and I was just wondering if it's related???? Anyone???

Did you have a biopsy? If so, you might have healing in the biopsy site which would cause itching.

I did have a biopsy, I didn't think of that but it was back in October. The itching started I'd say maybe a month ago....Thanks for the thought maybe it is....Uggh!!!

Might sound strange but about 1 year ago i was having extreme itching in the nipple area and surrounding area and eventually went to the doc about it. She passed it off as dry skin.
Ironicly I was Told I have BC in that same breast 2 weeks ago. The itching comes and goes! Dont know why.

I had itching and miniscule amounts of wetness on my BC side but I was 36 weeks pregnant at the time and the OB said it was just breast milk irritating the nipple area. She said the moisture was probably causing the itching and to wear pads. It did help to keep the area really moisturized but dry. Now, i don't know what really caused the leaking since I was DX a little over a year after that with IDC stage III
but I definately itched on the BC side.

Thank you all. It's very strange. It's an itching like I can't scratch hard enough sometimes and then sometimes it doesn't bother me at all. Just strange it never happened before all this.
-
thats weird... i do remember random itching... like a deep itch that wont scratch...
-
I can relate to the same kind of itching........

I had extreme itching in the nipple and a very subtle rash that turned out to be Paget's cancer of the nipple. I was lucky to have the Paget's or I wouldn't have discovered the 9 cm of grade 3 DCIS underneath!
-
yes, I had extreme itching prior to knowing about the BC.

It's so strange it comes and goes but it worries me because after my BMX I'm afraid I'll be getting fantom itching next...

Violet,
Have they ruled out inflammatory breast cancer. Itching comes with that and the itching comes and goes. Might be worth asking them to assess if they haven't already.

What about itching that is not in the nipple area? My untreated breast frequently itches in the upper outer area, where I have the most dense glandular tissue. I often wonder if something is brewing inside there. My last mammogram showed an asymmetric density in that area that required more views. The radiologist decided it was nothing because it completely effaced on spot compression. I still wonder, though.
