Hang in there redninrah soon you will be home with your girls!!
-
I agree, redinrah, better they took care of it while you were there rather than after you were home and then had to go back in. Hope all goes smoothly from here on out.
-
The worst is over now Redinrah and Tuesday will be here before you know it. Thinking of you.
-
Thank u- the worst is this bear hugger and huge things on my legs that are squeezed every 45 secs . I am Impressed with boobs and new stomach yayyy
-
redninrah - Yes, the bear hugger was quite toasty, if you get too warm ask them to pull it off of your legs, they did that for me, made it somewhat more comfortable. If they let you up, then the leg compressors are less important, they're to help prevent blood clots & DVT, but if you're up and moving around you're less likely to have a problem with DVT.They will likely still want them on when you're sitting or lying down.

What's a bear hugger??
-
Bear hugger is the warm blanket thing (with warm air pushed through it) that they use to make sure you stay warm (or that the flap stays warm really) the first couple of days in recovery.
My family said it made me look like the Michelin Man.
-
Huh... I didn't have that.
-
Betsy - How did they keep your breasts warm when you were in the hospital? (I think I only had it for 2 days)
-
Redninrah,
Take Care. Sending all my good thoughts your way. Sorry, to hear you had a setback.
Regards,
Alexch
-
I did not have the bear hugger but I did have the leg squeezers.
-
I didn't have the bear hugged either. Just regular blankets. I was up and walking around at 24 hrs. Shower at 48 hrs.
-
I had the leg squeezers and compression stockings but no binder, no compression shorts or girdle, no heated blanket. Just a nightie and what was like saran wrap on my ab incision. The breast incisions were hangin' out there in the breeze the whole time. I had a regular flannel blanket or thermal blanket (seemingly whichever came out of the cupboard first.) I was disappointed because I read about the heated blanket and it sounded cosy! I was off Foley and walking on the second full day afterwards (but no shower till I got home).
So glad to hear redninrah in good spirits despite the hiccup. Good they got on top of it. It will be Tuesday soon.
-
I just had blankets... but I did have the leg compressors... I also was up in about 24 hours (maybe less) and showering that day. My room wasn't cold and I had my own thermostat so between room temperature (whatever was comfortable for me), hospital gown, blanket, I was fine... Just tried to stay covered.
-
Hello ladies so round two...those of u who have been reading my story understand what I mean. Lg compressors gone, I've gone, foley gone, and my horrible pain under the arm is almost gone.
When I came out of surgery the normal breast that had a lift and nipple made smaller, was up and perky. It's become very soft and dropped a little, the other one has some catching up to do. Still in binder I asked the surgeon to loosen it as I got some much gas. And yayyyyy I went to the washroom twice for bowel movements.
Typically the surgeons come in the morning every day and instruct the nurses. At first they check the flap with the Doppler hourly and then bi- hourly and then every 4 hrs.
Apparently what happened to me can happen as its micro surgery but it's rare. So I'm a special case. Lol -
I had the bear hugger blanket also, which I loved and the leg compressers, which were tolerable.
-
Diep and T.E removal rescheduled for January 24,2012 found this thread was listed on January surgerys, just cant wait for it to be done with. how long surgery if only having diep and T.E removed is healing time lesser or same if you were having BMX done with diep to.
-
I think both the surgery and recovery will be easier... I had a bMX and hip flaps in July and DIEP done in Aug to re-do the right side... that was much easier in that I had range of motion right away... I think the BMX is the hardest.
-
What are hip flaps and what was redone
-
Matahead... Hip flaps are flaps taken from the backside (butt) inside of the abdomen.... I didn't have enough fat from my abs to form 2 breasts... Then after I got home, (I had skin necrosis), my incision opened on the right side and was leaking a lot of fluid... lost a lot of volume... so my doc did a wound surgery and to re-do the right side, he then did the DIEP just for that side... So I had Hip flaps and BMX in July and a DIEP flap in Aug... Amazingly, I am now almost 6 months post BMX etc and am great, mostly symmetrical, mostly soft, and no pain.... I will most likely go for one more tweak next year (2013) just to make them perfect.

Michelle- I've been here since last monday
-
can anyone tell me if your insurance covered your revisions? and if you had a ppo ?
-
My insurance covered the revisions, except for the lipo...
-
THANKS BDAVIS WHAT WAS YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND DID U HAVE A PPO?
-
Beacher - your own insurance company would be in a better position to define your benefits for you. Do you have a nurse navigator through your insurance company or a customer service number on your insurance card? Or can you go to your insurance provider's website?
I think most group insurance companies cover revisions. But you should check your own, specifically, so you don't get a nasty surprise.
-
I agree with LuvRVing... I have Aetna, and yes a PPO, but Aetna has MANY flavors. My husband works for a pharma company and so ours is pretty good... I found out when I was researching recon that we participate in something called Three Rivers which is a third party company... they are under contract with my doctor, not Aetna, and they do the processing of the claims for Aetna. I didn't even know we had this third party plan... it was the surgeon's office who knew to look into it. So I suggest you see what your doctor's office can dig up, and get pre-certification. My doctor told me up front that he does whatever lipo I want at stage II but doesn't charge for it (because no insurance company is going to pay for extra lipo), but some lipo was needed for the fat grafting. I am letting the doctor and Aetna duke it out... I signed something that says I owe nothing.
-
redninrah- How is everything going? Do you get to go home today?
-
3am today no soundi of pulse. Surgery again.
I'm pissed off now
