I am waiting for my MO to get results from Oncotype DX test to show if radiation is neededfor me after lumpectomy to remove DCIS.  Is there anyone who has had this or is waiting on results from this assay?  I am hoping to have the results by the 15th of this month as this is the latest date the rad. onc. wanted to wait to start rads if we don't have the answer.

I would like to see just how many are looking into this.  I know each one has to plan his own route to take on this road we ar on but I guess I need some reassurance that I am not alone on choosing this course.

Hi there, I have never hear that Onco dx was used to determine radiation; only the benefit of chemo. You may want to clarify with your MO. You can also call Genomic Health, they will tell you when your results are due and how far along in the assay review they are. Good luck to you.

I agree with Bevin.  I had the Oncotype test but it was to determine if I would benefit from chemo.  I was going to radiation regardless.

    Best of luck to you.

miri - How fortunate that you will have this additional information and wishing you great news! From what I've read, this test is new and so I suspect you may not hear from many others in your situation right now.

Rads were not nearly as physically difficult as I'd imagined -- I found the mental/anxiety leading up to them was definitely the worst part, but now that they are well behind me, I actually find comfort in knowing that I zapped the heck out of any remaining stray bc cells.

Yes, this test is new for  testing women with DCIS to see if they will benefit from radiation.  I think  it was announced in Nov. at the San Antonio B C Symposium.  when I mentioned it to my mo, the next day she thought I was speaking about the one used in determining use of chemo.  I am hoping that I will be among those where the radiation wouldn't be worth the chance of receiving it.  I heard from Genomic health this week and was told that insurance would cover it(all but copay)  .Also it should be available to my mo by next Friday.  Thank you all for your input.

Fighter, I bet you are waiting about as patiently as I am. lol  It seems as if each test and each appointment runs into something to slow them down..and cause us anxiety.  I guess that is when you learn to have some patience---------I wish  I hurry up and learn to have some!!!  Hope you get your result in soon so you will know what you are facing.Good luck  and peacefulness to you
