Going for 1st chemo today. really don't feel I need it. My oncotypedx was 23 and I feel I can get by but don't want to disappoint my husband and kids , they feel I need to do all to be healthy and fight but not giving me adriamycin to prevent heart damage. Any opinion on that?

I go next week and my score was a 20.  I was conflicted but felt I had to utilize whatever was available to make sure I am  around a long time.

I felt the same way, Gayle. My score was 16... I had my first of 4 TC on 12/29 and my 2nd is next Thursday the 19. It's not pleasant, but doable. I had no nausea. My worst SE was bone pain from the Neulasta shot. Got a great tip on here to take 24 Hour Claritin one day before and several days after the Neulasta shot (if you're getting that).

Bela T... What type of chemo are you going to do?

Gayle- just saw on another forum that you're not doing Neulasta.

momof3boys -  My MO said he would not to the Neulasta on the first treatment and he would keep a watch on my wbc.  After all I am reading about the SE's of it I am very happy to skip it and hope my blood counts stay high enough to avoid it the whole time.

    Gayle,

In 2002 I had a different chemo (CAFx6) and I refused blood boosters also. Because I was older, 51 at the time, my blood cells were slower to rebuild. It was absolutely consistent for me. Instead of having chemo six times 3 weeks apart, it extended my treatment and I had chemo six times 4 weeks apart. I don't know what your experience will be with a different chemo regimen, but thought I'd mention it.

    A.A.
