Biopsy today!

Well, I had my stereotactic biopsy today. He didn't get a good sample the fist time so had to do it twice. I bled a lot and have been super sore today. Much worse than two years ago. When I touch the bottom of my breast it feels like a hard ball inside and is painful. Should I be concerned?

    I had a stereotactic biopsy on November 4th, and they hit a blood vessel.

    They told me to keep pressure on it and do lots of ice, and that hardness and bruising was to expected.  It got better after a week, but I still had hardness in my breast until the lumpectomy on December 5th.    So, based on my experience, I don't think it's anything to worry about. 

    I was initially upset about all the bleeding, but after surgery I found out that they got all the DCIS during the biopsy.   So, I'm glad they nailed it, never mind the blood.

    I had my biopsy on 12/16...I had a huge bruise for awhile..but its almost gone. Not completely though. That wrap they put you in afterwards (that reminds me of a 70's tube top) was hard to stay one though...kept slipping.

    I, too, had a huge bruise after my stereo.  Like yours, it quickly became a painful "hard ball inside" feeling -- I totally think this is common, although I certainly wasn't warned about it at all.  The site turned all the shades of a nasty bruise, and truthfully, it was only for the lumpectomy that it was all removed. I remember worrying that this bruising would delay my lump. surgery but my bs was relaxed about it and just moved ahead with the surgery.

    After the stereo. biopsy confirmed dcis, my bs sent me for an mri, which led to an mri-guided biopsy on the other side (thankfully nothing was the matter, just false positive mri). Was spooked that this biopsy would also result in the big bruising, but it didn't do anything like what happened after my stero. biopsy.

    I think my stereotactic was worse than my BMX!  They had to try for samples twice also.  I bled like crazy when I got home and then had a hard lump the size of a softball for the next 6 weeks, although it did decrease in size.  Ice and Tylenol helped a little.  If it becomes really warm to touch, extremely painful, or if you get a fever, call your BS.   Hang in there.

    Thanks everyone. It feels a little better today. Still sore and feels like a hard ball inside. I didn't sleep well last night since every time I rolled over, it hurt. I also had a dream that the doctor told me the results were invasive cancer and I'd need chemo. I know that won't be the case, but I'm still anxious for results. Have an appointment with my surgeon Thursday morning. Hope to find out then.

    Well my biopsy results are in, but I have to wait until my 10:00 am appointment to get them. I spoke to the nurse this afternoon and she told me they were on the surgeons's desk and he would tell me tomorrow. I asked if she could tell me now, that I'd already been through this once and I was okay hearing it over the phone. She said she would page him (he had left for the hospital) and ask him if it was okay for her to tell me. She never called back. :( I'm trying not to worry, but I feel like if the news was good, she would have just told me.

    JMB5, probably the doctor just has a policy about staff giving results over the phone.  I know when I had my already-known DCIS tested for ER/PR status, they wouldn't give me even those results over the phone at my doctor's office.  But I know in your position, I'd be nervous too.  The waiting is the hardest part!  I hope you can get some sleep tonight and get some good news tomorrow morning!

    fantastic news!!!!! you probably have a seroma---they usually resolve over time on their own; if not, the surgeon can drain it .
