Finger wrap--What do you use?
I had started using Elastomull, (BSN) but found it difficult to work with and difficult to wash and reuse.
Then I tried Translast Classic (Lohmann & Rauscher) and while easier to work with I also found it difficult to wash and reuse.
Gets expensive!
Now I have found Fingerband #81-103 3cm. by KT Medical and it has sure made my life easier!
Easy to use, one roll does the entire hand, it stays put and washes very well.
Wondering what others are using.

I'm using elastomull - 2 rolls per hand, each roll lasts about a week. I'm interested in your newest discovery.
-
How long is one roll? And you say you can rewash? I cannot imagine washing Elastomull, since it's weave gets wider with each use. this could be great. How is the stretch?
-
They are 3 cm by 3.5 meters and wash beautifully in a mesh bag and then go into the dryer.

I just cannot tell you how much I like this product and how well it works, and makes finger/hand wrapping faster.
They are a tighter weave than either Elastomull or Transelast. More like the weave and stretch of the regular short- stretch we use on our arms only lighter. -
Jane, Binney corresponds with a LE OT in South Carolina, and that's all he uses for finger wraps. I have some, but because my LE therapist insists on wrapping me with fresh finger wrap--I think it's transelast--I haven't used it (I see her twice a month for MLD). I like the size of the role and the fact it's reusable.

Kira--
I like the Transelast but it is not easily washable and I like to only wrap with fresh, clean bandages, especially since I am having so much pain and drench my hand in Voltaren Gel every time before I wrap.
Translast was the wrap my LE therapist Heather used on me in the very beginning. But it is only good for one fresh clean use and gets costly, especially if you get it dirty or wet and have to change it more than once a day.
I just kind of stumbled on the KT finger wrap snooping around the Internet and thought why not give it a try. It is also so much "neater" and does not catch on anything.
Funny how a little thing like finding the wrap has improved the quality of my life. Sad but true. -
Jane, if it doesn't catch on everything it would definitely improve our lives! Gotta order some. Anybody done the reseach to find out where it's cheapest?
Thanks!

No Binney I have not done the research on price--
I am so delighted with the product I put that on the back burner! -
Binney, the price was reasonable--I got it at Bandages Plus, as it's reusable. I got 6 rolls, and haven't used it, really, but your OT reference in South Carolina only uses it, along with toeband for toes....
It's made in the US,by the same people who make the KT gloves.
I did talk to them, but they didn't sell it direct to the public.
One roll is $2.50

I got a package of six, and I love that I have nice clean wraps for many days and then just stick them in the washer and drier in a mesh bag and voila! I have nice clean wraps for many more days.
No I dont work for tne company but I sure love the product. -
I honestly don't know what I am using on my fingers right now... Which is so responsible of me! I despise th elastomull. I am using a washable finger wrap that a PT in Cali gave me. It washes up so beautifully and provides super compression without falling apart like the elastomull does. I think it might be the one from KT medical! I suppose I should find out for sure because I have to resort to other things when it is washing & drying!
-
Do you fold the KT fingerwraps length-wise like with the standard gauze. I've got short fingers, so I am thinking maybe the 2 cm toe wraps might work better. Does anyone do this?
I am about to buy a second set of wrapping supply and will definitely get the kt finger wraps. I would love the group's wisdom on which brands and sizes are best and how many to get of the following
Short stretch bandages
padding
Stocking stuff
