Hi. First time to join but long time fan! Just read postings from others w mfmc dx. I am on pins and needles because I thought all was well but Dr. has ordered mamo on remaining breast and pharmacy called that prescription was ready. When I picked it up is was for anti nausea drug used w chemo. Dr out of town til Tue.! He did not call...no clue that all was not well on 12/28/11 fu appt.!  Arrrrghhh!

    Did you have the mammo already, or other tests at your follow up appointment? The situation sounds worrying and, if is what you think it is, very unprofessional.



    Do you have a common name and maybe the pharmacy got you confused with someone else? Can you call the doctor's office and ask for an explanation?



    I hope it's just a misunderstanding and your doctor can sort it out.

    Mfmc is a short version of multi-focal multicentric breast cancer. It means tumors were thready and spread out and had more than one origin.

    HI 8cats,

     The whole thing sounds wacky - maybe the doctor's office made a mistake about calling in the script in your name - that happened to me once. Ordering a mammo on the remaining breast sounds like good practice. I have had a mastectomy on right breast, but get annual mammo on left breast. Even if he was worried about something, your next logical step would be a biopsy or MRI. 

    I would call the nurse practitioner in the office and try to get it sorted out. It just doesn't make sense that they would jump from a mammo to chemo without an intermediary step. NOt to mention a call about the results! Good luck. Best Beau
