Kira, yes, the hand weights are pricey, but they are compact and cost less than a year's membership to a gym. I was surprised at how easy I could use them at home. Also, less expensive than buying a bunch of handweights and easier to store. I waited until the gym equipment shop had a sale and got $50 off. The heavier set is more pricey - I got the ones that go to 30-33 lbs.
