There's No Conspiracy - Sometimes It Just Doesn't Work

"For more than a century, scientists around the world have tried, tested and tweaked hundreds of ways to treat cancer. Some of them have worked - many more haven't. "

"To suggest that there is a conspiracy aimed at depriving cancer sufferers of effective treatments is not only absurd, it's offensive to the global community of dedicated scientists, to the staff and supporters of cancer research organisations such as Cancer Research UK, and - most importantly - to cancer patients and their loved ones."

Doctors scientists and pharmacutical company employees all get cancer. They want it cured, just like the rest of us.

There are very, very few families that have escaped cancer.

One of Canada's leading cancer researchers, Dr. Tak Mak, who discovered the workings of the T cell (from which much further research has been conducted) has dedicated himself to breast cancer research, in memory of his wife who died in her early 40's from the disease.  He has two daughters.  Talk to him about conspiracy and that would be the most hurtful and insulting thing you could possibly say to him.

Also why are cancer survivor percentages going up instead of staying the same. If doctors were hiding something then we wouldn't see a change in the stats.

Yes, I agree.  It makes me a little nuts when I hear people say that useful treatments are being kept from us on purpose.  I don't buy it.

Another absurdity - there are, around the world, thousands of researchers studying cancer treatments. Not one of them would say something? Every single one of those thousands of researchers is part of this "conspiracy"? I don't think so.

I just don't know why some think that the drug companies don't want to cure us.  Surely they would rather have us live longer so that they could continue to have us as customers!

I LOVE you for this thread it's about time someone spoke out - I am tired of hearing the b.s. about there being a cure and no one is working on getting it out there because there's no money in it - what are these people drinking?  As for Dr. Oz - enough said!!!!!

It doesn’t matter how many unverified anecdotes pop up in the press or on the internet – if a treatment doesn’t hold up when subjected to rigorous scientific investigation, it doesn’t mean there’s a “conspiracy” to stop it. It means it doesn’t work.

People believe what they want to believe.  There have been studies that prove how useless it is to present to them the facts that refute their beliefs.  In fact, "facts" just make them dig in their heels!

....which is why this sort of discussion pops up over and over and over again on BCO...
