    Hi Kylesmom,

I just got results of biopsy - positive, cancer back.  I had rash and lots of raised bumps on chest. Mine did not go away, just got worse so the fact yours has changed could be a good thing. Mine stings, its like feeling the cancer moving. Have to WAIT for scans cos "thats standard practice". Best of luck to you.

    Hi Kylesmom,

I was just diagnosed with my second recurrence of skin mets. Mine looked just like a red rash both times. You are doing the best thing in getting the biopsy. It will let you know for sure what is going on. You are in my thoughts, I know how I felt when the rash appeared and my onco sent me for the biopsy. I was diagnosed on 4-28-08 with IBC so we were diagnosed almost around the same time. Please let us know the results of you biopsy.

Kylesmom, it's best to get it checked out, but I can tell you that happened to me about 2 years ago.  I sat in the sun, and then the radiated breast turned bright red.  It lasted for several days and then began to fade.  I went to my breast surgeon who felt that it was probably a bug bite.  She said that breast that are radiated are very sensitive to everything.  That was two years ago.  I've had mammo and MRI on that breast and all was clear.  So it's possible it's nothing.  I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I had a rash on my breast and just below my breast about 6 months after having my lumpectomy and radiation.  It was Christmas week and my GP saw me on Christmas Eve.  I'll love her always for that.  She did a punch biopsy that night, but told me she truly thought there was a high likelyhood that it was a yeast/fungal infection.  She said she had seen it a few times after radiation.  Apparently the good bacteria on your skin gets killed by the rads leaving it open for growth by other organisms. That is what I had.

I am now 8 years post op and the infection recurs once or twice a year.  A Rx anti-fungal cream makes it go away.

I am wishing you my luck.  Negative biopsy!

Thanks for the responses. Been to ER twice yesterday two differ hospitals when I notices rash spread to my back. Both sites immediately dx this as shingles and the rash that started more pronounced on the breast has really cleared up but my back rash is really looking like shingles.

    HI,

It is good to see this topic is easy to find on a search.  I just got a rash on my radiated breast today.  I am thinking heat rash because I was outside shoveling the snow off the roof today and I only noticed it afterwards.  Am keeping an eye on it.  If it doesn't clear up in a few days, will call my chemo oncologist to see what advice he will give.  I feel better about it being a heat rash seeing other postings and worry just that much less that it is IBC. :)  Good vibes to everyone for a wonderful new year this 2012.

Hi Joanne, I too recently had a rash 4 months after radiation. Six doctors looked at it and none could say definifely what it was but they thought an infection. I had an ultrasound which was clear.

I was given antibiotics and the rash cleared after about 4 days.

Chances are that yours is benign but it's adviseable to get it checked to be sure.

Thanks Racy.  I will call my chemo oncologist if it doesn't clear up by Friday with just the aloe plant treatment I am using.
