Sex & masturbation after mastectomy
I believe that this is an issue for many women.
I am 61 and single. I have always enjoyed masturbating occasionally,.as I have not been in a relationship for many years.
I had a mastectomy in January and am very fortunate in that I didn't need any follow up treatment.I've also been fortunate to have accepted that I have 1 breast now ( I didn't want reconstruction ) I can honestly say that I love my body and accept it as it is. Now here is my problem--------whenever I masturbated, my breasts always played a huge part in my ability to achieve orgasm.I've tried since my op,but 1 breast just doesn't cut it. I've also tried without focussing on my breast but nothing happens.
I'm desperate to know if anyone out there has had a similar problem. I can't believe I'm the only one. PLEASE reply somebody !!

Hi Woodseer, I'm so sorry you're dealing with yet another loss after losing a breast and dealing with breast cancer.
My biggest concern about the possibility of losing my breasts was the loss of sensation. I was fortunate to be able to have a lumpectomy, but I understand the loss you are feeling as my breasts are a huge part of my sexuality.
How long has it been since your operation? You may need to allow yourself some more time. You can also talk to an OB/GYN-they may be able to give you something to help you get over that "edge."
It's great that you love your body because you can relax and find new ways to enjoy your sexuality. Set the scene...take a relaxing bath, pamper yourself, soft music, candles.
It's great that you have a sex drive after all you've been through. So many women lose the desire altogether, so you've got that going for you!
Continued health... and best wishes that you will fully regain your enjoyment of your sexuality!

Hi, and good for you for posting.
Above this topic are a few that are ongoing. One is especially good re: MOJO--ie, our sexuality. In it you will find a lot about partners and sex, and a good deal of information about masturbation and devices and where to find them. The good ol' "massager" is one of the best and very effective. I forget what it's called on the threads. I have one that's got to be 18 years old and is still going. good luck and good sex.

It's the first da y of a new year,2012 and FINALLY,I achieved orgasm through masturbation, after my mastectomy 2 years ago.!!!
I hope that anyone out there who has had this problem will take heart from my experience and realise that your mojo can and will return.
Happy New Year !!!

congratulations Woodseer, this is a major accomplishment and proves that BC does not rob us of our "former" lives (before diagnosis)
