Hello Everyone, Just thought I would catch up. Finally got to go on the trip that was postponed due to Cancer. Nashville was a great time, love the Grand Ole Opry, the country is alot different than "Nebraska. Doing the project that was postponed due to cancer. Have all the cabinets stripped and some them urethaned doing the rest this week. It sure makes a mess. This weekend I am doing my bit for Breast Cancer month. Going to fund raiser a the local level then tomorrow going to be in a fahsion show for Cancer. I am going to model a camo shirt that state Fight the War in our Rack. We have a pink party every year for a friend and buy t shirts and wear them. She is 3 years out. Have a great month Dianne

Dianne - glad to hear you had a fun trip.
It is so odd to see Lisa's info and picture at the top of the page. So sad.
-
Thanks Sheila!
-
Dianne- You sound so good!! I know stripping cabinets is quite a task. But, anything, after cancer is a little more pleasureable!! Have traveled through Nashville many times, but never spent any time there. I didn't do anything for Pink October this year. Had my nipple recon Oct 6 and a few more tweaks with my DIEP surgeon. I think I am finally finished with breast surgeries. I love my new breasts!!! Hope all is well with all the ladies.....yes, Lisa....still missed:(

I feel so sad for Lisa's family....sending Hugs! I always wonder when I hear something like this ...like what went wrong, and how when we are under such care does it spread like that. Does anyone know?
I seem to be doing fine~ And trying to get back to a normal life...I sure like not going to the doctor every other time I turn around.
Much love to all you chemo 2009 girls

I'm fully recovered from my 'hopefully last" recon surgery. DIEP was the best thing I've ever done for myself. I don't ever feel like these aren't my original breasts, except these are about a cup size larger. Will be doing tats sometime in the spring.
I've come to know 3 other ladies in my area with bc. We meet every month for lunch......a great comradarie. So nice to have friends who truly understand. I am about a year and a half ahead of most of them. And one was just diagnosed with mets to liver and has traveled to MD Anderson in Houston this week. This hit me hard. Though when I think of 4 ladies with bc, I guess, sadly, the odds are good that at least one of us would see progression. I find myself anxious now, when any of us have tumor marker testing or scans. I feel like I should be stronger, but sometimes i find my hope is hanging by a thread!
Surprisingly this Christmas season, I haven't been inclined to decorated, bake, cook, etc. The big family dinner was to be at my house this year, but I had to cancel. Didn't even put up a tree. I did get presents bought and wrapped, and enjoyed it. Just kind of freeing to not feel pressure to decorate. I'm sure the desire will return next year. I think another year of 4 surgeries has just wiped me out.
On another note, just found out I will be a grandma in August!! How exciting is that??
Hope you are all doing well and loving life again. I can't come to this thread without thoughts of LIsa. She fought so hard. So very hard to understand.
Merry Christmas and A Blessed New Year to all!

Jacee~ I get the no decorating...I have a tree up but just a lot of white lights on it. (pretty) and I too am not doing any baking, I for one am trying to watch my sugar intake. And you had another very good point , no pressure, I am feeling very good about that.
I just had a very good friend that just passed away from her cancer spreading. We did our chemo cocktails together and she had been my childhood friend as well. Just so hard to understand. So I have had a lump in my throat over the holidays. I miss her so much!
peace & wisdom

Balsie- So sorry about your lifelong friend. I think our hearts are a little different since cancer arrived. Mine feels joy a little deeper and pain more intensely as I experience life now. I know you must have been a great comfort to her, knowing she wasn't alone, facing cancer. Therein I find some comfort, when I know because of what I've gone through, someone else's journey is just a wee bit easier. My faith in God is so strong, don't know how I'd have made it without Him.
I'm sure your tree is beautiful....I just love little white lights....so soothing. Like you, I thought "why bake all that stuff, just to say I did". Neither me or my DH need it. Yes, it looks pretty all laid out in a nice spread on the table.....but doesn't look so good spread on my hips afterward..lol
Take care & big hugs!

Hi stef & all,
I meant to post on Saturday that Lisa's daughter, Tina, got married that day. I'm waiting to see some wedding pics on her FB account soon. and life goes on......my 3 year anniversary of the mammo that started all this fun is the 11th of this month! Yikes! My DD asks how I can remember that kind of stuff, but not remember the plot of the book I just read (I could probably just alternate between a couple books for the rest of my life since I don't hardly remember anything about them!!) I have always had a thing about dates when it comes to milestones in my life-a few have gotten lost over the years, but most dates are still intact!
