Just don't forget to give your horse a hug, Jancie. She will understand if you don't feel like riding.
I don't think you need any other Christmas presents either
I am so glad that you have that part of your life back on track. Just so important in so many ways.
Merry Christmas! - Claire

Jeskachi, Hope you got your RX okay, believe me I know this is serious stuff. But.....I had to laugh when I read your post about the transdermal patch. I was picturing you getting home with the Sc and trying to figure out how to apply that?!
hrf, I will definitely ask my onc about the Vagifem, and will tell him what your dr. said about it. I would love to try something that would fix the problem and not just treat the symptom. As far as Viagra goes, my husband tried it a few years ago, and he said it did not make him feel excited or anything, it just made his body react normally. That makes me think that maybe the SC IS kind of like the female version.
Suz, I have printed out the pdf and have it ready to take to the onc in January. My poor dh thought I should call the dr. RIGHT NOW and ask for it, but I am not comfortable trying to explain over the phone. I have to say he has been pretty patient and I love him more for it....
-
I tried everything the onc suggested from the slippery to the oily and I never found any relief. It hurt way to much to continue having intercourse. BUT today I picked up my SC prescription and decided that tonight was the night. All I can say is, WOW, it works and it works really, really well!! It has been 2 1/2 years since he has been in me and I was initially fearful as the gyn could only use a pre-teen speculum .......very minor pain at the onset and then totally comfortable. My DH claimed it was a Christmas miracle; I love this stuff. Thanks to all who were kind enough to speak frankly about this problem and this solution, I am so very grateful.
-
Linda - Thanks the only person I know that had taken viagra went the "emergency room" route, so I had no true knowledge to compare it to. Thanks.
Barbara - Way to go, glad to hear it helped you too! I agree.. a huge thanks to LivingIt & K-Lo. You gals have given a lot of people a great ending to 2011 & many more who may join the SC team in 2012

No this is not the solution for painful intercourse but this is the place that let us talk about it and an idea that may hep support the work here. .
Marybe is getting her tumor markers soon. We were sort of joking around and BarbE suggested we have a lottery, I chimed in a raffle with the prize being the satisfaction of winning. I wagered that Marybe's numbers would be under 6000. Then I just decided to go make a BCO donation regardless and now, so I did. It is easy the link is right at the top of the page on the right side, just scroll up. So, as at any board meeting where one is absent, Marybe named me in charge of spreading the word about this so we might get a nice pool of donations going for BCO which has done so much for so many of us.
It is tax dedutible too and I did donate in honor of Marybe but didn't request she be notified, she might get a big head ya know. Haha
Here is what Marybe wrote on her thread.
"Just thought of this....maybe you can spread the word of the contest to some of the other threads, I don't know about honoring me so much because believe me, I am really no one special, BUT wouldn't it be great to raise a bunch of money for BCO since it has given so much to us!? Also, I think you can use it as a tax deduction."
Thanks for reading, Ginger

This may be a dumb question -- but I googled Scream Cream and there is some you can buy. Why then do you need to go to a compounding pharmacy? What is different? Has anyone tried the stuff you order? I understand the Lidocaine needingn a prescription.
-
kmf I have seen it on the internet but chose my local compounding pharmacist as I knew him personally and trusted his work. I did get lidocaine but found that I didn't really need it and I had not had intercourse for 2 1/2 years. It was a minor discomfort at the onset but within a minute that discomfort was gone. I did bleed a very small amount (by that I mean the toilet paper was a tad pinkish right afterwards) but that has not happened since. This cream REALLY DOES WORK. Good luck.
-
So what goes into it at the compounding pharmacy? If I call my gyn and ask for Scream Cream is she going to know what it is?
-
kmf There is information about how to get to the contents of the SC on the first page of this thread. I tried it and could no longer bring up this page however I did have it in my compputer and I copied and pasted this information. Hope this helps.
Scream Cream
Who can benefit from using Scream Cream?
Studies have reported that over 43% of the women in America experience little or no sexual satisfaction from clitoral orgasm and only 25% achieve orgasm with intercourse. In fact, according to studies, numerous women between the ages of 18 and 80 do not even know what an orgasm is or how it is achieved. Whether someone is multi-orgasmic or among the 43% of women who are sexually frustrated, any woman who desires maximum sexual fulfillment, greater intimacy, and enhanced relationships stands to benefit from regular use of Scream Cream.
Description: Scream Cream contains a combination of prescription and non-prescription components described as blood flow enhancers and vasodilators. Each 1⁄2 gram dose contains Aminophylline 15-mg., Isosorbid dinitrate 1.25-mg, Ergoloid mesylate 0.25-mg, Pentoxifylline 25-mg. and L-Arginine 30-mg. Dissolved in a water based hypoallergenic transdermal vehicle. The vehicle is designed to enhance the rate of absorption and to cause the medication to be retained locally in order to maximize local effects and metabolism while minimizing the potential for systemic side effects.
Use: Scream Cream should be applied directly to the clitoris at least 30 minutes prior to anticipated sexual relations and gently massaged in. Duration of effect ranges from 30 minutes to 2 hours and heightens both ease of stimulation and intensity of orgasm.
Contraindications:
Patients with a history of sensitivity to any of the listed ingredients should not use this product. Patients with a history of genital herpes should use this product with caution as L-Arginine may facilitate reproduction of the herpes virus. Scream Cream is available without L-Arginine upon request. Onset is identical to the complete product but duration may be reduced.
How supplied:
Scream Cream is packaged in 30 dose multi-dose tubes.

Enjoyous, jancie, wishiwere....
The mere possibility of having at least SOME realistic way to cope with an almost-40-year-relationship that has been "dry" post-chemo/tamoxifen is a huge kindness. The onc I had couldn't bring himself to tell me in advance of treatment what the vaginal result of treatment most certainly would be like for a 51-year-old like me, so I doubt he could bring himself to pronounce "Scream Cream" in my behalf... (It was all supposed to be done in MY behalf, wasn't it?)
Anyway....
I saw my NP this past week and she gave me the mother-may-I to take to our wonderfully professional pharmacist who compounds for us. He called me to try to come up with ways for me to get it. The problem with getting it here where I live is that the pharmacy is so small, it can't easily buy the quantities of the components needed to make it, for just one person who happens to think it might work.
So if I can pick it up on my next trip to my cancer center in Seattle, and then try it to verify it, that would help in making it more available to those with or without mets because all of us cancer patients pretty much end up going to Seattle periodically.
I am still so angry that not a single one of my multiple medical providers gave me a clue that the problem would be as bad as it is for us. If my PCP here had refused me the possibility of trying the SC without any clear explanation or justification for refusing, it would have been next to impossible for me not to go ballistic and leave some ears ringing.

KMF - the ingredients for scream cream on the computer are totally different that the compounding formula. Unfortunately both have the same names but are different.
If I were to venture to guess, the scream cream that you find on the internet is not much different than the stuff you buy at the pharmacy/store that gives you a tingling feeling - sort of a heated feeling when you apply it to your clitoris.
The compounding formula scream cream tells your body to naturally lubricate and be more pliable for those girthy husbands or even those not so girthy husbands.
I have also experienced some spotting but not enough for me to get to the gynocologist yet.
I still can't totally take my dh inside of me when I am on top of him - for some reason that wonderful position of the past still hurts to some extent even with the scream cream. Doesn't matter how slowly I try to take him in - when he gets 80% penetrated inside of me - it hurts to some extent. Not so much if we are in the spooning position.
If my dh knew that I was telling ya'll this personal stuff he would be really unhappy with me. He even asked me if I was telling people "our business" when I told him about this thread.
-
I copied the information from the link thats on the first page of this thread (K-lo & LivingIt/Zoh posted it) Ive pasted it under my post here. This is what I printed & took to my Dr. She just copied out the ingredients exactly like its written, then noted that it was times 30 uses.
I took the same sheet to the compounding pharmacy along with the prescription and they wrote it up with.... just the ingredients not the name (the official name really is scream cream) The scream cream thats over the counter is definately different. The pharmacy looked into it for me because it was much cheaper. He said they would not work the same although some of the ingredients were the same. The precrip part of this is what makes this work properly. If I can find my notes he actually told me what the most important ingredient was.. after I post this I'll try to put the link up.

Good news! My oncologist's working with a compounding pharmacy to get my scream cream in my hot little hands. I have officially un-screen-shotted my onc.
The other two docs' screen shots are staying up on my wall. Hmph.
-
Went to my dr. yesterday. Asked her for Scream Cream.......she had never heard of it. When I explained to her what it was she replied " hence the name" and got a a real laugh out of it. She phoned the pahrmacy to order it for me but they hadn't heard of it either. They both promised to look into it and would have my prescription as soon as possible. Thinking maybe my dr. was planning to get a little stash of her own lol.
-
Hahahaha! Make sure they get the right one. There's another scream cream out there available without a prescription, but it's not the same thing.

Yaaaaa! Congrats Enjoyous!! Ya gonna join the SC team.
JMW - Print this out and give it to your Doctor & the Phamacy... Its the compounding ingredients and really important. There is an OTC one by the exact same name but not the same ingredients.

Ladies, thank you so much for this thread. Poor DH is so patient. We are lucky if we are intimate a couple of times a year. It is so painful I find myself avoiding intimacy. My Hitachi magic wand and PUR lube made everything but intercourse possible (despite a total lack of libido on my part),but we miss that. I am seeing my onc in a few weeks and will ask her for Rx. I'd love to reverse my vaginal atrophy. I find that I'm getting discomfort there just on a regular day now let alone when DH gets near me!
Re: the lubes. I found astroglide and Replens too goopy. I order PUR from drugstore dot com. It's less goopey and is a great lube.
I'll report back on my experience.
Thanks again for this post and the 'how-to's'!
-
After I get the cream, I may have to take a special trip up to Canada to see my boyfriend. In the interest of science, of course. So I can report back. And help others. Yeah, that's it.
-
Annie - I dont have to use lubes when I use the SC Lido combo. It helps the body do it naturally!
Enjoyous - Lol... Yup thats what it is research
heh heh. Where abouts in Canada, Im on the Wet West Coast... ummm that almost sounds rude here.
-
Nope, the wet west coast sounds like where we'd all like to be!
He lives about an hour southwest of Toronto. I have a lot of BCO friends up that way, too. I love me some Canadians.
-
Heh heh, Yes its pretty incredible living here but I sure could use some snow here right now. I'm the owner of a small contracting lot maintenance company here and in winter we salt ice and clear snow.... that hasn't happened yet this winter except a couple of freeze ups with no precipitation. Have 8 snow plows (& drivers) just waiting around in the winter because we have to contractually. Lol, Id be where the warm sunshine was if it wasn't for that (ahhh warm dry Arizona or Florida sounds awesome) But such as it is Im here. Sorry really off topic
Back to topic.. you can ask the pharmacy to put the SC in a Topi-Click instead of a cream jar. They all have them in stock for accurate dispensing of rx creams. The pdf file works out to 1 gram per use which is 4 clicks and no waste under long finger nails. I know it costs them $3 per jar as I looked into them on-line. If they don't have them they can get a sample sent to them by the company that makes/markets them (they send out a free sample of three jars/colors within a few days)
Wish I could market the cream (my entrepreneurial brain) I would have it so out there at every DR.s office & Cancer Agency in Canada. I just don't understand why women everywhere don't have the information to access it... It is a prescription after all. Guys have Viagra and the commercials non-stop. WHAT ABOUT US? I mean like really now... it works and then these old guys (said humorously, not to offend) would have somewhere to use the Viagra. That's my rant for the week... ok enough said.
Hugs Suz
-
I love your rant Suz.
Ginger
-
Suz....
Suspect the market is a lot broader than BC patients. I am fortunately fine without it. I am so happy for the women on this thread who have it all working again. I am sure their husbands are smiling too.
There also has to be a market for "offshore holidays" with Viagra for the gents and SC for the ladies. I mean if they can have "Toys in Babeland" here in Seattle, I would think romantic holidays at a resort would be a major draw.
My evil mind working here..... Sweet dreams everyone. - Claire
-
Lol Claire, Yes there is a much greater market than than just doctors offices! If it were my product Id start it off locally at the "Naughty but Nice" trade show we have in Vancouver every year (I think its coming up fairly soon) Everyone in town goes to this as they tend to have all the latest, newest & sometimes downright scary things to entertain just about anyone. Will go this year because Id like to see if there's any product advertised that's similar to SC. Could be its out there but have never heard of it. I know they always have a viagra booth and that's rx.
I haven gone in the last few years... especially after bmx without recon :P. I was always a lingerie addict & well that took the wind out of my sails. Because of this thread Ive started to get interested in looking sexy again. More of an old fashioned 50's style pin-up look so I can wear a pretty corset with my foobs. Didn't think I would ever actually feel sexy again, but I do now... its a good feeling.

(From the user formerly known as Enjoyous)
I picked up my tiny tube of SC on Tuesday. *Holding SC aloft, cackling madly, while lightning bolts illuminate the crazed glint in my eyes* The pharmacist told me that two other ladies called looking for it the day after I called. This thread must have quite a wide audience!
I haven't tried it yet and unfortunately don't have any prospects for using it in the near future. Canadian BF in Canada....mad at him anyway...blah blah. I'll have to look for a closer, willing victim or else go solo. Whatever I choose to do, I'll report back.
Suz - glad you got your sexy back. We should all have that feeling, dammit, and I'm so hoping for an SC miracle!
E (Scootaloo)
-
Yeah Enjoyous/Scootaloo/Susan, So happy you got your goods!
I took the page up to my ONC yesterday in a sealed envelope. I didn't have an appt so gave it to his nurse. When I saw her after my chemo I asked if she had given it to him. She said yes and they had gotten quite a laugh out of the name. She said he wanted to research it more before giving me a prescription .... something he didn't seem thrilled about. I see him on the 25th so will find out then if he gives me a prescription. I saw my GYN earlier this month and she said to check with the onc but she did write it down on a sticky note. She hadn't heard of it but I bet she was online looking it up after I left!
Hugs (and smiles) Glenna
