    Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed w tripple-negative IBC staged IIIc this past june and started treatments in Connecticut. I was started on AC for 2 cycles. Then, i traveled to Dr. C at Fox Chase and he suggested 4 cycles of FEC followed ny 12 cycles of Taxol to be done at my local clinic. FEC did wonders to shrink my nodes and breast, but After the 9th cycle of taxol, I found newly enlarged axillary lymph nodes. My local oncologist confirmed and said That Taxol must not be working for me. I have experience in the medical field and feel like my oncologist here in CT is not on top of things (especially related to IBC... He only had a 3-4 IBC pts in his 40+ yrs of experience) Our appointments are months apart and I feel like im constantly diagnosing and planning my care myself (finding lymph nodes, suggesting MRIs). In addition, he is not too happy about me seeing another doc at Fox Chase and refuses to communicate with Dr. C directly ( all communication is through me).

I was taken aback when i found out Taxol was not working... I am scared and dont know whats going on inside my body - I am worried my cancer is spreading. I am going to see Dr. C on Thursday and Im thinking about switching my local primary oncologist for someone who has more experience with IBC. Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC is about an hour away from my house and I am thinking of going there to find my new primary onc and receive treatlments.

Does anyone know someone specific at Sloan Kettering who has experience with IBC? I went to their website and there are many breast oncologists but i was hoping someone could recommend a Dr with experience in IBC. I really appreciate any help in advance!

Also, has anyone had a similar experience ( taxol not working for them)?

    Best.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis.  My mother-in-law was just diagnosed with stage IIIb and we also live in CT.  She wants local treatment, but we were trying to at least get a second opinion on the chemo treatment she is starting this Friday.  Haven't had a lot of success finding a a Columbian-Presb or Sloan IBC specialist.  Have you been able to locate anyone yet?

    thanks,

    Cyndie

    HI, Cyndie.

I am sorry to hear about your mother-in - law.

Where does she live in Ct?

I suggest you to see Dr. C at Fox Chase. He knows a lot about IBC. To take an appt with him takes some time - one month sometimes. If I were your mother-in-law I would start chemo asap with her local oncologyst. ASAP!!!

To prevent moving her stage B to C. Chemo is usually the same for everybody, they start AC cycle.

Start chemo and go to Pa. Tell her doctor: I want to start chemo today. I told that to my oncologyst and I started my treatment next day ( they should make an order to pharmacy for your mom)

if you have Q feel free to ask me.

    Good luck.

    Hello,

Just wanted to let you know Dr. C @ Fox Chase is my Oncologist.  However i am TN stage IV with mets to liver.  This past Tuesday I went to Sloan for a second opinion and met with a Dr. Tiffany Traina, she was great.  Do not know if she specializes in a specific cancer but I do know she works well with Dr. C.

Best to you all with treatment and NED,

    Hope
