I'm chuckling at everyone saying they're glad it's over!  It is tiring but fun, I do look forward to the holidays and I have to say I am not really glad it's over!  I guess I like the hustle and bustle!

Speaking of which, I ended up driving to my daughter's in Acton, then we went to Twin Rivers Casino near Providence, RI.  We had a great time, I won about $200 and we stopped at Outback on the way home for dinner because the good restaurants in the casinos are closed on Monday and Tuesday.  Who knew???  Actually, many of the restaurants around here are closed on Mondays, Outback was the only thing we found open other than Chinese or pizza joints.  But it worked, we were both in the mood for a steak and both of our steaks were cooked perfectly.

My DH went to see Sherlock Holmes by himself, which is good because I didn't enjoy the first one but had told him I'd go with him.  Now I'm off the hook for that one!

Michelle- I laughed at your DH buying you three of everything you asked for.  Men are funny!  They try so hard at times you have to love them for it.  I told my DH I wanted a pair of clogs, deep maroon, almost brown but not- showed him a picture online.  He got me black ones.  I said, they didn't have maroon?  He says "they did but they weer ugly."  LOL!

They listen and care, they just don't always get it right for various reasons.  Can't believe you headed to a casino after Christmas!!  Glad you had fun!

Laurie-Too funny on the shoes, are you going to exchange them?

Carol- I agree the christmas parties are fun! But i do still love to get gifts, i guess its the kid in me still, My sister sent me a lei from hawaii that had fans made out of money on it, it is so beautiful.

Laurie- How come bco wont let you post a picture?

Laurie cant wait to see pics of those cute little boys of yours.  the little kids is what makes Christmas fun....or the "big" little kids like my 22 year old son!

On Christmas eve my son and daughter and myself (DH would not go) went to see The girl with the Dragon tatoo....I read the book.  Movie was very dark and had a lot of graphic sexual stuff, but a good movie.

I bought the family a xbox360 with kinect and on Christmas day we all played the games, and my daughter and I got the dance2 and we danced all night....laughed our butts off!  Even my DH got in on the action.  I wanted it mostly for myself so that I could dance and do the zumba to get some excercise in during the long winter without having to go to the gym.

We had prime rib for dinner on Christmas, it was ok, I cooked it a little too long as we like it med rare....the meat thermometer read that but then it continued to cook while resting and I was getting all the other stuff ready...next time I will take it out a lot sooner. Last night i used the leftovers and made cheese steak sandwhiches with carmalized onions.

Carrie- The dance off sounds fun!  I want to get it for our Wii- DH got the kids a drawing game instead.  I think the dance one would have been more fun.  Yumm to the cheese steaks, sorry your prime rib ended up over cooked.  It's always such a disappointment when that happens.

Kay I am with you about being ready to get the tree out of here and things back to normal.  We put ours up early this year and I am sick of telling the kids to leave it alone.  I don't know if I would give the cookies away though....

I don't know why it won't let me post pictures?  When I try to it says the content of my message is empty and there is nothing to post- even when I type a description of the picture?  Ohwell.

Tonight I am finally doing the Belgian chicken again.  Dh will be psyched when he gets home and sees it on the stove.

Laurie. click on the tree,  you have to paste the hosted address of the pic.. (as on flicker or photobucket.. it has to be uploaded elsewhere first..  click on the size button.. the size will magically appear (it is larger than about 400 X 600, you might want to resize it smaller.

Deb-Glad you are back safe and sound, sucks when you have to leave when you are not ready to go back yet! Loved your pictures you posted.

Laurie- The picture with your son still wearing the gloves you got him cracked me up, so cute.

Carrie- I love those games, our friends have one and we had such a great time playing it. the steak sandwich sounds really good from your leftovers. I had made broccoli cheese casserole for christmas and today i made a broccoli cheese soup out of the left overs it was really yummy.

Joyce-Im doing the same, trying to empty out the fridge before we leave for hawaii, i still have lots of ham leftover so hopfully wont have to buy much between now and then.

Really rainy and windy here, gusts are up to 50 and tonight suppose to be over 70 (yikes)

    Michelle- Hope you are ok?

Hi everyone!  Thanks for checking on me, we just got home.  First, there was an hour and 45 minute delay for treatment...yikes!  But the traffic was light, we were planning to go to the movies and see Tin Tin and were trying to figure out how we would pass the time until we were ready for dinner and the 7:00 movie.  The "delay" fixed that problem for sure, we ended up grabbing a quick dinner at Not Your Average Joe's which is right next to the theater.  And it was too late to see Tin Tin so we opted for The Descendents.  Debbie - go see that movie to remind you of the breathtaking scenery in Kauai and Oahu!  Oh, the movie was good, too...George Clooney....mmmmmmm!!!

I'm not crazy about this 3:40 timeslot for treatment.  I'll be glad when we go back to 5:40 next week.  I saw the RO today, he said my skin looks "right on schedule" but tonight I'd call it darn right angry!

Deb - welcome back from Bermuda!  It must have been hard to get on the plane to come home!

Joyce - I will be so ready for another junket to Florida when this is all done.  Get ready, sister, because we are gonna celebrate, dance to the music...if I can keep you awake long enough Wink

Glad you got home Michelle. Sorry about the 45 minute delay and missing Tin Tin. We saw The Decendants a couple of weeks ago and liked it too. It would pretty much be impossible for me not to like a George Clooney movie though. Almost went to the movies tonight, but didn't. We were thinking of the girl with the dragon tattoo or war horse. Maybe tomorrow.

Welcome home Deborye, even though you'd rather have stayed in paradise. Good luck getting up for work tomorrow. Now I am jealous of Florida and Hawaii. It was a miserable rainy day all day here too. But DH and I are going overnight to NY to see Wicked on Friday. It was our Christmas present. I will content myself with that.

Carrie and Laurie, my DD has the just dance 2 for wii as well. It is a lot of fun, although everyone seems to get the most fun out of watching me try to dance and laughing at me! Now that just dance 3 is out, you might be able to get it for a good price. The boys would probably really enjoy it.

Had veggie chilli and a salad and a 9 grain bread we got from great harvest for dinner. The bread was really good. I need to make something different. I am getting tired of the same old, same old. I have to try that salsa chicken soon or maybe the enchiladas. Not sure which to try first.

Kay- try the Belgian cjicken Debbie posted, we had it for the second time tonight.  It's very good, like a chicken stew, although I serve it with rice.  I mayt just go out and get myself the dance game.  The boys love to dance and love music, I think we would have fun with it.

Michelle- So glad you checked in with us.  It sounds like your new time slot is giving you a bit of a hang up.  After everything going so smoothly it must be so frustrating having it take so long.  Hope the rest of your night goes well and your benadryl, cortizone/cream cocktail gives you relief so you can sleep.

I am planning next weeks dinners- which I HATE.  But I have at least one meal planned, Michelles sauce with meatballs for tomorrow night :)

You too debbie.  We are well away from the beach and pretty well protected from the winds. We should be ok but then sometimes there is that freak gust so you never know.  No matter where you live there is always some kind of danger.

Good morning ladies!  Yes, Laurie, the 3:40 timeslot is not so good.  I'm really glad we'll be going back to 5:40 although we risk some heavy inbound traffic with Celtics and Bruins home games.

Tonight my daughters and I will go to a place called Finale where we'll have a dinner of light appetizers followed by the "grand finale" - dessert!  We are celebrating the college graduation, so this will be fun.  She is going to drive me so it's totally a "girls night out."

My itching wasn't too bad overnight.  The cortisone cream and a couple doses of benadryl work pretty well.  With six more full treatments to go (and then the five boosts) it looks like my chest will be an ugly mess.  But the end is in sight!

SheChirple - love that crab spread!  We made that back in the 70's...I thought everyone had forgotten about it.  Another good one is to take cream cheese and mix in the cocktail sauce and shrimp, then use Ruffles to dip or spread it on crackers.  Back in the 70's we made it with SauSee Shrimp Cocktail and it was those teeny little shrimp.  Now I use good cocktail sauce and chop up some medium shrimp to mix into room temperature cream cheese.  Yummy but a waistline killer for sure!

You Pacific Coast girls stay safe with the big winds!

Michelle- Your evening sounds fantastic!  You will have sooo much fun!  Enjoy the celebration with the food and great company!

I agree- West coast girls stay safe with the high winds, sounds scary.

Debbie- I HATE planning my meals for the week, I can never think of what to make or what we will feel like etc.  But with the boys the grocery store is a project and not one I want to tackle multiple times.  They are fun to shop with, but just getting them in coats, strapped in the car, then in the store, they have to have a muffin, etc etc.  Every week I ask my DH what he wants for dinners and he always says "what ever you pick is good.  You do a good job."  This does not help me at all.  Or he says-"I'm almost out of deodorant"  thats what he said today and I asked him if he thought that would be an appetizer?  He laughed....but still did not suggest a meal!

I'm going to go start Michelle's sauce in a bit....looking forward to it.

Michelle-Have fun tonight, you deserve a big celebration together.

I dont know about you all but i feel drained, dont know if it is from all the stress of christmas and change of weather but i just want to stay in bed all day lately. Or could be from my last drinking binge last friday, never had drank that much in my life, but you would think i would bounce back by now. LOL!

I missed the Belgian Chicken.  Who posted it?  I could go back through the old posts.

Tonight I'm making pizza including the dough for the crust.  I have some printed recipes from Mary Ann Esposito's web site.  I learned from one of her tv segments about quick pizza yeast.  Not sure yet about the toppings but one will be Italian sausage from Rouse's supemarket.  They make it themselves.  Rouse's is a Louisiana company.  I meant to go to Fresh Market and buy some asparagus but was too tired after walking 18 holes of golf.  DH and I will probably each put toppings on our half of the pizza.  I have a stone that I've never used and a new pizza peel that DH bought for me from Amazon.  We'll also have a big green salad.

Laurie, I'm impressed with the week's meal planning.  I helped my niece do that earlier this year.  We made out the menu.  Wrote a grocery list and then went to the supermarket to buy the groceries.  I was hoping to help her become more organized.  She has 3 children, 8, 6 and 2.  The number of foods they eat is very limited because of the way they've been brought up.

One of my faults in grocery shopping is browsing and buying items I "might" use in some dish eventually.  I need to stick to ingredients I'll use right away.

Our thread made the active threads list.

Debbie, stay in bed and rest up for Hawaii! I am so jealous. And yes please play it safe and stay indoors.

Laurie, thanks for the Belgian chicken suggestion. I will give it a try next week. I sympathize with getting the kids to the grocery store. When my kids were small, I used to go at night while my DH was home. I have never been able to get a week's worth of shopping in one trip. I almost always run in almost every day and always have. Wish I could be more organized with it.

Enjoy your celebration Michelle! Appetizers and dessert sounds good. My favorites!

DH is off all week and cooked the veggie chilli last night and made salmon tonight. Tomorrow he is taking dd out to an Indian restaurant for a buffet lunch. Indian is not my favorite. I'll have leftover salmon, and they will probably not have much of an appetite for dinner. Then Friday, we go to NY to see wicked and stay overnight. Won't be cooking again until Sunday, new years. German tradition is for pork and sauerkraut on new years. I think I will try to do that, then the belgian chicken on Monday. This is the furthest out I have ever planned meals. I hate thinking out like that too. I think if someone would give me the menu for the week, I'd happily shop and cook, but I just don't like to do all that thinking and planning myself.

    Have a nice night everyone.

Carol- your pizza and salad sounds awesome!  Do you make your own dough?

Kay- I am with you Indian is not my favorite to say the least.  Good job on planning ahead for your meals!  Even though it kind of sucks :)

I actually write on a calendar what I make for dinner each night to help me with meal ideas.  So I flip through and see what I haven't made in awhile or what looks good.  Check the freezer and see what I have for meats and frozen veggies and check the pantry.  I usually have things on hand to do regular stuff like shepards pie, chicken and stuffing, salsa chicken etc.  I plan five meals and then use two back ups of whatever I can throw together from the pantry/freezer.  Dh should be home soon and the sauce smells goooooood!  Thanks again Michelle.

Oh- Caro,l Debbie posted the Belgian Chicken- but I will try to find it in my e mail (I've shared it with a girlfriend)so I can copy and paste it for you if she doesn't do it first.  I hate searching the thread for a recipe, there is so much to look through!!

Hi everyone!  Home from #20 and our celebration dinner at Finale.  OMG, the plate had 9 different desserts on it, plus my older daughter ordered a separate chocolate bourbon pecan pie.  We didn't...couldn't...come close to eating it all!!!  I've had more sweets in the past two weeks than I usually eat in a year, I'm ready for a break!

While I was out today, my DH took down the massive Christmas tree.  The lights and ornaments are all over the place - we'll put the stuff away tomorrow.  We will be gone for the weekend and decided the tree could go.  It was getting crispy!

Debbie - rest up for Hawaii!

Laurie - I so remember those grocery shopping trips with little ones.  I worked full time and had to be pretty good at planning meals, I don't know how I did it back then.  Hope you enjoyed your spaghetti and meatballs tonight!

I'm in my pj's, I've lathered up my very red skin with cortisone and moisturel, and I took 2 benadryl.  I wonder how long it will be before I'm snoozing???

Michelle, is the burn like a sunburn?  That is what I was like.  But I kept up with the Aquafur and some other cream they gave me, the only thing that I had to buy was cortisone for the foliculitis and that itched like crazy.

I had 5 boosts also, you could see a brighter red around the template they use but you will be surprised how fast the healing process is when your done.  With in a few days the redness was almost gone.
