I heard about this on the news and found the story on the internet:  www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_119527.html   This is about information that was released at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium linking an increase of reccurence of breast cancer to increased carbohydrates in the diet, mostly from starchy foods.

Hey cowgal, there's so much info about the causes and prevention of recurrence, I can't keep up with it all, but I do like the part that says: "In a second study involving diet and breast cancer, researchers found that following a low-carbohydrate diet just two days a week produced more significant weight loss than a standard low-calorie diet followed daily. People following the intermittent diet for four months lost an average of 9 pounds while the other dieters lost an average of 5 pounds, the British researchers found". My DH and I are going to give that a try for the weight loss factor. Thx.

Hi Quiche.  I agree there is so much out there saying different things about what we are supposed to eat or not eat.  Have you and your husband started the low carb two days a week yet?  If so, how is it working.  I read something a few years back about going low carb for a certain amount of time and then going off of it and repeating it.  I think it was called "carb cycling".

I've been using the South Beach Diet for a number of years - go on it for a month or so and then off a little bit and not only do you lose weight, you feel much better - some people can metabolize carbs - I cannot - they bloat me and make me sluggish BUT I do love my bread and pasta so now and again I treat myself but pretty much have trained myself what is a high glycemic food and what is not and just try to pass up high carb foods - of course this isn't the week to boast about my food choices LOL.
