Im almost done with treatment - had bmx in aug, started 4 AC in sept & have finished 6 of 12 taxol/herceptin so far. My concern is that I have not had scans. Docs tell me that since im node negative & have no symptoms warranting scans, they are not done. Has anyone with similar dc been told the same thing?

I suppose it depends on your oncologist. My oncologist ordered a PET scan for staging purposes before surgery. I suppose she wants a baseline. I would think since you have invasive cancer and triple positive that your oncologist would order scans. My oncologist said that in the future if I had unusal pains for a period of time I would be scanned again. I have a brain scan mid Jauary. Otherwise are you happy with your oncologist? What counts is if you feel comforable with your oncologist, and feel that they care.

You're right, it seems to depend on the onc. I feel confident in mine & she's said that in cases like mine they don't do scans. I will ask about baseline you mentioned to see what she says. I guess I just wanted scans in an attempt to get some peace of mind - if that's even possible for me anymore.

shore...I understand the need for peace of mine. For that reason I'm glad the scans were done. Just be sensitive to your body and if you feel there is any unusual bone pain close to your tumor site ask for a scan. Take notice of anything other pains or unusal problems that don't go away in a week or so. After you're dx with invasive cancer you can't be too careful.
