Central and Southern NJ?
I thought I'd start this for those of us in Central or Southern NJ. Anyone from NJ is welcome to chime in, of course, or even our sisters from across the Delaware. I've enjoyed getting to know many of the women on this board, and while I have found a support group locally, I'd love to get to meet others who use this board. I'm in the Princeton area.

Rachel I work in East Windsor and live in Pennsauken. I'm all for any get togethers but have to keep my work/pt schedule in mind (and I'm supposed to start rads soon).
Let me know what is decided. -
I'm game. I live in Atlantic County, near Atlantic City.
-
Nice to meet everyone. I'm going to be starting the chemo roller coaster soon. As soon as I figure out how I'm reacting, maybe we can do something early in 2012.
-
Hi fellow Jersey Girls. I'm in South Jersey and will be starting chemo in January - at Virtua in Voorhees.
Rachelvk - I see that you're also TN like me. Did your tumor grow that quickly between August and October????
Reesie - I used to work in Pennsauken - across from the high school.
-
Hi Char - I wish I could answer that. I was really worried that it took so long for me to get surgery scheduled, but every doctor I saw swore that I 'had time' and didn't have to rush, even being TN. In fairness, it sounds as though the biopsy sizing can be very approximate - even though they had it on ultrasound, it's not like they were able to really probe around a lot on the inside. So it could have been a little larger initially. Still...
Good luck with the chemo. What treatment do they have you on? I'm almost 2 weeks out from my first (AC-Taxotere) and, except for 2 ER visits because of a low-grade fever, I've made it through really well.
-
Hi rachelvk - sorry to hear about the trips to the ER! Yikes. I'm not sure what my treatment will be. I meet with MO on 1/4 for the 1st time. It was originally scheduled for 1/11, but I pressed and pressed the issue because of the TN and then had my oncology nurse navigator step in. My MO also thought it would be a good idea to see me a little sooner. Whew.
How is the port? I'm soooo scared of that! I'm a big baby and the thought of that completely skeeves me.
-
Hi everyone! Rachel, we might have crossed paths at the ER...if you've gone to University Hospital in Princeton..I've spent plenty of time there! Also would love to hear about your local support group! Hope you are doing well ...All of my sisters here!
Please count me in for any get-togethers - I am here in the Princeton area with my parents who are wonderful, but the no-friends-in-jersey thing hasn't been any fun for me all!
-
I go to the young survivors group out of the Princeton Y. There's a meeting this Wed evening and I could PM you the moderator's email if you want to think about coming at some point ('young' is pretty loose. I think it's up to 40, but I'm 42).
-
I'd love to come this Weds! I am under 40 so no need for special dispensation
-
Hi Rachel,
I go to the BCRC in Princeton. I always thought of checking out the young survivors group. Are there stage IV's in the group?
Thanks Karen
Ps- I hope everyone is doing well in there treatment! -
Not that I've met yet - each time there are new people. Plus, the group does broader activities as part of the Philadelphia chapter, so through that you may find more Stage IV. I hope to see you there at some point. Or PM me if you ever want to meet up.
-
Not from NJ but my parents, brother, SIL and nephews are all there. My parents live in Monroe Twp and brother in Short Hills. If I visit this summer would love to get together. My parents are coming to CA in April to meet their first great grandchild, my first grandchild!
Caryn -
Hi Rachel,
Thanks for posting back. I wanted to check it out, but i wasn't sure if it would be a good fit for me. But I see it's part of the YSC and I really like the YSC. Do you do any of the classes the BCRC offer? -
I actually was looking at the laughter yoga class.. not sure if I'll sign up but it sounded interesting.
-
Caryn - It would be great to meet you. And did I already congratulate you on your grandchild? That is such a blessing.
-
I'm nearing my last chemo tx and figured I'd start this up again. I'll probably have my exchange surgery in mid-May, but I might be up for a get-together some time in May or early June. Any thoughts?
-
Some of us on the Lets Post our Daily Exercise thread are talking about getting together. Probably will be sometime in the coming weeks but perhaps we can do it again when you feel up to it later.
-
Thanks. I'll take a look on the thread. I haven't been good about exercise, but I suppose that thread might give me some motivation. Looking forward to meeting some of you.
-
That thread will certainly give you motivation, but by posting, not just lurking
so don't be afraid, they are a great bunch. I do think we should move the planning of a get together over here as it will probably get lost in that thread.
-
I'm in - the end of May or June would be good. I'll be getting chemo until the end of April - my 6th treeatment had to get pushed back a week - I ended up in the hospital for 3 days with pneumonia!
-
Hi everyone,
I am Jersey girl through an through. I grew up in Washington Twp, in Bergen County. I currently live in Princeton. Well actually it's Lawrenceville with a Princeton address. My docs are in Camden except for my radiologist is at Prinecton Hospital.
Enjoy the beautiful day here in central jersey! -
Hey everyone - live in SJ here but work in East Windsor - so I'm all over. Hi Caryn and Karen
. I'm up for meeting but I have a busy schedule now that I started Dragon Boating. If you guys set a date and a place I'll try to be there - I don't mind driving.
Kayne - are your Docs at Cooper? My RO is out of there (I go to Einstein for my BS and MO). I see her in Voorhees now (since I had to go before work and it was more on the way than Camden). I love her - she's great. -
Wow Reesie - you live in Pennsauken and go all the way to East Windsor? I used to work in Pennsauken - right across from the high school - in the industrial park. Now I work in Philly. Not sure which commute is worse....PATCO or 295/73. I'm on short term disability now and loving every minute of it.....so wish I didn't have to go back to work, but I'm the major bread winner.
Will you be going to the new hospital in Voorhees for tx? My RO and MO are moving their offices there. It's a beautiful hospital - I found out first-hand (unfortunately) when I was hospitalized for 3 days with pneumonia last month.
Rachelvk- so I guess you're done your chemo? Are you doing Rads now? I have my last Taxol in 2 weeks and can't wait to do the chemo-over-happy-dance!! Then I'll have 7 weeks of rads. Ugh.
-
Hi some NJ gals are having a get toegether on sunday May 6th..hop over to NJ thread to watch for the details...hope you can join us.
hugs
-
Candie, can you please post a link to the NJ thread? Thanks!
-
Hey everyone, head over to the 'NJ Get Together' thread. We have plans for lunch, Sunday afternoon, May 6th. Let us know if you can come.
-
Char, sorry just saw your post. I don't go to Virtua at all - I go (went) to Cooper in Voorhees for RO. They have a new Cancer center on Centennial (don't have to go to Camden - where I went in the beginning for my arm and leg).
I say go (went) because I did "regular" radiation in Jan/Feb but I'm sure I'll be back again for bone stuff (hopefully not for a long time though).
Anyway, yes, live in Pennsauken drive to East Windsor - makes for a long work week (it's an hour drive each way).
Not sure about the get together - don't know my schedule yet. -
Hey you NJ Ladies... I just saw this thread... I am in the Princeton area as well... and am in touch with some of the women on this thread... glad to find even more NJ gals.
-
Candie and Patoo - Thanks for posting about the May 6th meet up here. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
-
Hop over to the NJ Get together thread for all info!
