My Dad was diagnosed just mid Nov, had surgery week before Thanksgiving.  Chemo delayed due to wound not healing right, but starts that probably next week.  Very strong Christians beliefs in my family and Dad and I agree that God gave these marvelous people called Doctors a special gift, take advantage of it.      I am just nervous about it because he is 78, has had heart problems and still tends toward depression after losing my brother over 3 years ago.

I know that each persons cancer is as unique as the types of cancers, andit is a persoanl thing for everyone.  Something I could use advice on is how to deal with a friend who lost her father a year ago to lung cancer.  I know that my Dad will have ups and downs, it comes with the territory, but she seems to think she wrote the book on paretns iwth cancer.

I went thorugh breast cancer with my late Mom twice.  First was no biggie, encapsulated (sp?), the second required a radical mastectomy.  She got off with no chemo or radiation, no nodes were involved in either , so she took tamoxifen for several years though.  We lost her to a very agressive liver cancer.

So that's my story,   I look forward to meeting you all and wish you luck and love for the New Year.

Thnaks for letting my vent that little frustration.

So...this friend sounds like she might feel like its her "purpose" to share her knowledge...however, you have to be honest with her. Otherwise, you're encouraging her.

This is a special and unique journey that NO ONE can fully understand for you and your dad. I hope I don't offend you, but its people like that who set me sailing.

Best of luck to you and papa...

    ((((Hugs))))

Thanks fuzzylemon,  I can't for the ride to end, your advice is good I needed that.  God Bless you in your own journey.  On a better note, Dad is healed so the port goes in next week and chemo will start,  he is actually excited to get it started, of the mind the sooner it starts the sooner it's over right?
