Arimidex

I have been on Arimidex for 9, almost 10 months now. It was pretty awful to start with. Aches in all joints, insomnia and weight gain.
I started taking glucosimine, fish oil, magnesium, calcuim and vitamin d about 2 months ago. I feel like a new woman! I also started taking melatonin and can now sleep properly which helps to deal with everything else.
The magnesium will help with cramping and restless legs.
I strongly urge any of you who are on the fence to at least try it for a while. You may not get any se's or only minor se's. You won't know until you try it. I was ready to give up - and change to another AI, but I'm happy to stay on Arimidex now.
I still have some aches and pains, and the occasional bad night's sleep - but it's very manageable. I'd rather have the se's than the alternative - having a recurrance.
Hang in there - it really does get better.
Trish
ps - there is a great thread on here called "Arimidex, coping with the se's" it's worth looking at that thread, it's been going for some time and has lots of useful information in it :-)

I've been on Femara for 11 months and when my onc said patients tell him it makes them feel Old, I had to agree. If I've been sitting for awhile, when I stand up I just stand still for about 10 seconds, pretending I'm doing something important with the papers in my hand. Then I usually can walk normally. The balls of my feet are very sore, but luckily, it goes away. As a friend said, so get up and walk around more! and walking does actually help. I also take Vitamin D, calcium, and as I'm osteopenic, zometa, every six months.
I'm going to try magnesium too, thanks for that tip!
It did get better, and I still believe it is worth it. -
I take it and feel elderly, too. Have you gone to "Ask a patient" site and typed in the drug arimidex. You will find many answers if you haven't already:) It's a dandy, huh! Best wishes.

I've been on it for 10 months and my sore joints are getting better. At first it made me feel so old but now my body is getting used to it.
Good luck,
Nancy
