Well had another mammogram this morning and they did more pictures and then they did an ultrasound and then......made an apoointment with a surgeon for a biopsy.  Crappity Crap Crap Crap!  I am so mad I could spit nails!  Not positive I have to be here again but it ain't looking good.  Directly behind where the first spot was.  If its back the breasts are coming off!

    Crap!

Hate this for you - yes, if you have recurrence I was told meant tx failed and would require mastectomy.  My biopsywas ok - mets 6 years later.  "IF" ( hoping not) this is recurrence praying all is ok elsewhere.  Hugs, keep us posted

Positive...IDC again....hormonal traits to follow next week.  I guess double mast is next cause I don't want to do this again.

    This sucks!

That does suck. I had something similar. Five years after my first cancer, I had a new primary in the other breast. Bye-bye breasts. The reconstruction process has been a journey, to say the least, but I am never going to need another mammogram.

Hang in there. You've learned so much with the first cancer, you have more strength and resources.

Thank you to all who have responded.  One day I hope that we will all be healed for ever and no one will have to worry about this awful disease ever again.  I pray for this day.

    Namaste'.

I'm sorry you are back in breastcancerland.  I had my recurrence last October and went thru chemo, double mx, reconstruction and now Arimidex.  It isn't fun but it is doable.  Try not to think too far ahead...just take one day at a time.

    Take care,

    Nancy

    wrsmith2x,

Can i ask if you did chemo first time around?  Where you on tamox?  I am dealing with it agian but other breast.  1st time DCIS 2005 this time DCIS with IDC although very small 3mm.  My oncologist doesn't suggest chemo because the IDC is very small.  But i just what to do everything i can to kill these cancer cells.

    Bojo,

Yes, chemo was done and rads too.  Was triple neagtive so no tamox.  No guarantees any way you go as I am finding out.

    Good luck to you!  Namaste'.

I am in the exact same boat as you, except that I have a new primary 19 years after a lump, rads and chemo.  It's a small IDC, along with a DCIS, triple negative and I am having my bmx tomorrow.  I chose the prophylactic on the other side because I figure that 2 bc's in one lifetime is enough.

Best of luck to you - I am  hoping yours is small, contained and that this will be just one more bump in the road.

Sorry to hear they are seeing something else, but it is very possible it is a shadow or scar tissue for the last cancer since you did not remove your breasts.

Something to consider though, if you cancer has returned you need to find out if you are having a reccurance, and if it is, is it a local or has it metastized beyond the breast.

If it is local then I would think a mx would be a good choice but if it is cancer and is mets then you are in a different ballgame.

Removing the breasts after it is has moved beyond the breast isn't necessarily going to give you any better chances.  It is the horse is out of the barn theory, if it is out of the barn it isn't really necessary to remove the breast.  You need to know if those breast tumors are fuely the mets sites, if not, why put yourself through so much surgery, discomfort and possible side effects.

If you choose not to do the mx then you don't have to worry about reconstruction, surgery or being lopsided.  That would be something i would consult 1 or 2 doctors on for their opinions before I make that choice.  I'll pray for you to have good results with the bx and please let up know how things turn out.

Ct scan was clear with the exception of "...a 3mm paraseptal nodule in the left major fissure" and a "subcentimeter left renal hypodensity..." neither of which the doctor is worried about.  I'm not sure I'm not a little worried but we will watch it.

Node surgery is Friday and plastic surgeon and oncologist visits are Monday and then we can schedule the BMX I hope.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers.  I wish you all peace.  Namaste'.
