My son in law lent me a juicer, he had two. It is an older Jack Lalaine but I didn't want to purchase one before I knew if I would like it. I have used it twice. I've made kale, carrot, apple, lemon juice with organic produce from a local farmer's market. Loved it! This brand,as someone else commented, is a pain to clean but if I keep juicing,I'll invest in one that's easier. Heading over to the juicing book link for more ideas.

I purchased an Omega juicer years ago, grew tired of it and gave it to my son.  When I was dx with bc in October, I got it back from him and it still works fine.  It's a real powerhouse!  I have been juicing almost every day since then as well as trying to stay on a 75% raw diet.  I look and feel much better.  Have dropped 12 lbs in less than three months.

We usually start the day with juice made from romaine lettuce, zuchini, cucumber, celery, red, or yellow pepper, carrot, green apple and ginger. I just purchased a vita mix blender and we are going to start making smoothies and soup with it.  I wish there was an organic farm nearby that I could go to purchase my veggies.  I will have that opportunity when I go to NC for the summer, but not here in Fl. that I know of.

Our holistic doctor was thrilled to hear that we were doing this, and our vitamin C levels are really good, so we don't need a supplement.

Kaara, I have an Omega also.  Love it.  My old Jack Lalaine didn't do greens well so I moved to the Omega.  I have a Vitamix as well.  It's such a handy tool.  It makes great smoothies and the soups are really good.  I like the fact that they are warm but "raw".  I will start making more of those again as the weather gets colder.  We have had a mild winter so far so I haven't too many soups yet this season.  I am working toward that 75 or 80% raw mark.  Would love to drop some weight!

Kaara, where do you go in NC in the summer? I know where all the great organic produce is.

I have an Omega masticating juicer as well. So easy to use and to clean! I haven't used it in a few years but you are motivating me too as my diet has become so junky

. Here's a funny story: soon as I was biopsied, before even the results, I bought this juicer. I made, aand drank, almost straight cabbage juice, for several days. Don't do it!!!! I got major diarhhea and was like that all through my MX - as my dr predicted, it took 6 weeks for my digestive lining to rejuvinate. But, though I had a huge tumour, it had not got to my lymph nodes. I have very unscientific theories: since I had a lot of mucinous cells as well as very aggressive IDC, the mucinous glop produced by them was a tough barrier for the aggressive little buggers to get across OR the whole IDC army collapsed under the god-awful cabbage juice onslaught.

I have a fairly old juicer, Juiceman Jr., but I am making due, as the new ones are so $$$...I usually have a short glass (12oz) and I start with some fresh spinich, roamaine, a lemon, an apple, celery, cucumber...sometimes parsley...whatever I have that is organic.  I always add an apple or pear for a little sweetness, and the lemon helps taste.  I really feel more energetic.  I try to do this everyday.  I read not to do bananas, as the just squish up, but bananas are great in the blender.  I have been doing smoothies in the blender: quarter cup of frozen blueberies, cubed frozen banana, greek nonfat yogurt and milk to thin to right consistency, add vanilla or almond extract to taste, and agave to sweeten.  YUM, like a milkshake.

For those who have a Breville juice fountain, particularly the compact model, what do you like/dislike about it? I love juicing so much that I'm putting up with the old Jack Lalaine but really want one that's easier to clean.
