Mass found in other breast

Anyone going thru this?  I  just found out that I have LCIS and ILC in right breast (6mm, hormone positive, her2 negative).  While waiting for treatment plan had MRI which found mass in left breast less than 1 cm.  Verbal from path is that it is an invasive cancer.  Waiting for full path report.  I'm 64, and want to proceed with lumpectomies and rads to both breasts.  Surgeon thinks that this is a second cancer unrelated to the first.  Any thoughts, suggestions, etc.?

It's very good they caught it all early. My core biopsy said I had ILC and as a result I got an MRI. You probably know that lobular tends, or rather is more likely than ductal, to be in multiple spots in both breasts. Something was seen in the right breast, where I had the original tumor, that turned out to be a spot of DCIS. That also came out with the lumpectomy.  My surgical report, which tested more tissue, stated I have IDC, with ILC growth patterns, whatever that means. Anyway, I'm glad I got the MRI. The more we can track down those killer cells and eliminate them the better.

Just got home from an all day marathon of tests: calcium and tumor markers, full body CT, and bone scan. My MO is very thorough. I'll be releaved when, fingers and toes crossed, the reports come back clean.

    Best wishes!

Priior to surgery I knew I had ILC in left breast.  There was a suspiscious lump in right breast that was biopsied negative.  I decided to have a double mastectomy.  Glad I did, left side was ILC, IDC and DCIS.  Right side was IDC.  No one ever discussed with me if the cancers were related.  I was stage three with the ILC so, I received agressive treatment.

I chose to have both breasts removed.  My onc. didn't think it was necessary but I decided to go ahead anyway.  They found precancerous cells in the 'good breast'.  I'm glad I went with my gut.

I, too had a BMX because i was Stage 3 and 5+nodes.   Was concerned about ILC hiding in other breast as the other breast because all testing including MRI, mammo's and u/s were clear up until I found my ILC tumor.   All testing is an educated guess and sometimes not very accurate.  You will have to make your own decision but I wanted you to know that my noncancer side had 2 precancers only found in path tissue, so it does happen that it can be multi-focal and all test neg.

Have a good friend with Stage 3 ILC and 2 micro nodes that just had other breast removed 1.5 years after first because she had 2 small ILC tumors and 1 macro node.  Her onc told her they were probably there before she had the first mast so now she wishes she had done the BMX at first but you can not second guess with this sort of thing.

Had opted for the lumpectomy at recommendation of breast surgeon.  both areas were less than 1 cm and figured once they did that and the sentinel node biopsy would know more....

Well, had the surg on Wed....on left they couldn't find the nodes...I had an incisional biopsy in 1974 which turned out to be a lactocele and then 6 months later a fatty necrosis in the same area right under the armpit....so it appears that they took out the nodes then.....

Now have to wait till Thurs to get the pathology results and recommedations.... No idea what is in store and hate the waiting...
