two years out now

Just returned from visiting my surgeon for my 2 year check up.  He thought I looked fine, didn't find anything that bothered him and told me to come back in a year.  I love appointments that end so positively!!

This question came up on the forum so I specifically asked him today:  when filling out a legal document, such as an insurance paper, do I check "yes" or "no" on the part that asks "have you ever had cancer?"  His answer:  I should check NO.

I like that and I'll go with it!  Just wanted to inform of this point of view.

Wishing all the best of health and happiness.

Fabulous!  Now, I wonder what happens when I check 'no' but my surgical history shows bilateral mx and recon? --I was prophy.  I do not regret my choice, which was the right one for me and my family history, but I envy the clarity that comes with your 'no' that has no lingering 'but' after it.

Super congrats, and enjoy the rest of the holidays with a carefree panache!

When they have you list your surgeries, maybe you would want to say 'prophylactic mx+recon'?

When one neurologist saw I had listed lobular carcinoma in situ as a condition, but told him most oncs do not consider it cancer.  He protested, "But it has carcinoma in its name!"   So I had to spend precious time explaining.

Leaf, good idea, and maybe I should always capitalize the word prophylactic, to underscore the point!
