Deborye,
Enjoy your trip!!! Sure wish I could slip into your suitcase and go along! -
Seaside, in other words you are enjoying a couple hours of peace! Enjoy the movie, it's one of my faves too!
Home from #12 and dinner with my DS and DH. Just a little tired tonight, no surprise really. Tomorrow night we are meeting JoyceK and her DH for a holiday celebration dinner. I'm so looking forward to it! My treatment is at 4, so we should be back in time for our 6:30 date.
-
Michelle,
Yep....lol.....
I am watching the movie on AMC and every so often thay are putting a caption at the bottom of the screen with a bit of trivia about how and where the scene was filmed... They just had one that said
the actor playing the advisor to the judge in the case against Chris Kringle was William Frawley... Fred Mertz from I Love Lucy.... I can't believe I never noticed that.... -
The electricy is out so... no stove, no mirowave, no light in kitchen.
So Blue tortilla chips! With .... Cottage Cheese! Butter! Salsa! Canned Beans! Warning don't smile at anyone after this.
-
Bedo- that is twice today that you made me laugh, thank you!!! Hope your power is back soon.
Seaside- I hope you enjoy your quiet time, sounds like heaven to me.
Michelle- Have a great time at your dinner with Joyce and her DH. I know you will!
-
Lost of electricity...........nasty .............comment about smiling.....hysterical.........thanks for the visual.....................hahahahahha

Debbie: And ?????
Dinner was a dozen fried shrimp, hush puppies, french fries & cole slaw. Great bus trip with Harris Cnty Precinct 3 seniors program. $10.00 for a trip to Galveston (60 miles to the south) to see the gorgeous Festival of Lights at Moody Gardens and then a ride on the paddlewheel boat. We paid for our own dinner - under $10.00. Nice evening. Nice not to drive.
-
minustwo- You make me laugh- Ok so i finally went to the ER today and i had to wait 3 hours, was not thrilled about that and that is why i did not want to go, but i have atorn ligament and all they did was wrap in in a ace bandage which i already had. They told me to keep it up and not walk on it for a while and keep ice on it, i had already been doing all that, so basicaly it was a waste of time, but i guess at least i know it was not broke or fractured. but thanks for caring ;-)))
Went to a ugly sweater christmas party tonight, at least thats what it was suppose to be, the person who won had lights all over them and was more artistic and awesome than ugly, i told them i was ugly and should of won, they laughed at me but still did not win. Oh well! Had a great time.
-
Michelle and Joy have a great dinner, with great company.
Yes TGIF hopefully we will get mom home today. supposed to get some snow tomorrow and dont want to do the long drive in the snow.
Debbie so glad everything is kind of ok with the ankle, I know its a pain in the arse, but better to know. Funny on the ugly sweater party...must have been fun. I was googling sweaters to get for my DD for christmas and you cant beleive how many "ugly Christmas sweater" sites popped up.
Its Friday...so we will probably do something out tonight, but if not I have a pizza in the freezer for backup.
-
i love reading the glimpses into your lives (all of you).
Tonite I am making a polenta casserole with layers of cheese, spinach, mushrooms, ham and more cheese betw/ polenta layers.
-
Love the Christmas apple, apple
-
No plans for dinner, but just came back from lunch with my son.......................it doesn't get much better then that..........................
-
Joyce- I wish we did have an urgent care here but don't think we do. Have a fun night tonight with michelle and her DH (I know you will)
Carrie- There is a lady that makes ugly sweaters for christmas and she said she can't keep up with them, it's a big thing but had never heard of it until this year. So glad your mom is coming home today!
I love reading all about everyone here too, I remember when i first started reading this thread everyone just stuck to the recipes, then we all became friends and then started sharing what is going on in our lives, and I just love that!
Ducky- Your right it dosnt get much better than that, i miss my daughter so much she lives in georgia at fort stewart so i havnt seen her in 2 years but we talk everyday.
-
I had dinner with both my DS and my DH last night. DS has really been there for me through all this, quite a surprise as he is, by his own admission, self-absorbed.
I do think I am going to drive myself to rads, though, or let my DD take me. These men just turn into some other beings when driving in Boston traffic. I swear I was car sick last night and this afternoon! The traffic wasn't too bad today, we were a bit early and they took me right away. It took about 23 minutes to get in the garage, park, walk to Rad Oncology, check in, change, get treated, and reverse the process!
I agree about this thread and how we share our lives. I participate in another blog with about 15 people and the same thing happened. It was started to talk about diabetes and share ideas for managing it. Now we are friends, having been on the blog for five years. Many of us have gotten together in person, and when we do it's like we are old friends just catching up on things. This is a warm and wonderful group of women who really care about one another. It doesn't get much better than that!
We'll be leaving in 15 minutes to meet up with Joycek and her DH. I'm making my DH change his clothes. What makes him think that a denim shirt and a pair of blue jeans is OK for a holiday dinner in a nice restaurant???
-
Michelle- You certainly don't need the added stress going to your rads, I would get someone else to drive you or if you think you are up to it drive yourself. Either that yell at them and tell them SLOW down right now or ill smack the crap outta you! LOL! Have fun tonight.
Going to the Sea Hag tonight for dinner, been out several times this week, not good when you are trying to lose weight before going to Hawaii-
-
I've been off line for several days (computer problems), so I have no idea what's going on. I'm baking italian seeded cookies tonight. I love these cookies. My godmother used to make them. I think this is the last variety going in my cookie tins. I'm giving the tins to my friends, at work, on Monday.
-
Michelle - I have been skimming through the thread and saw your post about going to the Hilltop. I haven't been there in years. You were about 5 minutes from where I live. I remember the long lines of people out front. Too bad it's gone "down hill."
If you plan to dine out on Rt 1 again I'd love to meet up with you. Jimmy's is good and it's on the north side of the highway, so you don't have to change directions.
Just about ready to take the last sheet of cookies out of the oven. Baking is over for tonight.
-
Hautie - I actually thought about you the night we were at the Hilltop...I thought you said you lived in or near Revere! If we go again in that area, I'll let you know. Why don't you PM me your phone number?
We had a fabulous time tonight with JoyceK and her DH. I had rack of lamb, my DH had a steak, Joyce had shrimp and pasta, and her DH had veal. As always, the conversation flowed and it was a great evening!
My rad #13 was no problem - the drive was OK but the stop and go, herky/jerky driving just makes me nauseous! I may very well drive myself a few days next week. I think I feel just fine (I keep waiting for that extreme fatigue to hit me, but so far I'm not noticing anything too bad) and I might enjoy some peace! Maybe I'm just overly sensitive at the moment... DS#2 won't be able to drive because my appointments are too early - he'd have to take off too much time from work. DS #1's driving isn't bad, but he has a stick and you know what that's like in stop and go traffic. DH hasn't done a single bit of Christmas shopping so he needs to get that done. LOL, what a riot! Actually, I am lucky to have so much help and don't want to complain too much!!!
-
Hauntie- MMMMM cookies. I bet your co workers are going to be thrilled.
Debbie- Hawaii???? When did I miss the dish on that? Glad you are headed out and feeling well enough to do it.
Michelle- It makes me so happy that your DS is rising to the occasion. It must make you feel very proud and loved. Hope you had a great night out with Joyce and her DH- but I agree your DH need to change his clothes, sometimes men don't get it.
Ducky- Sounds like your had a great lunch, sons are wonderful
Apple- right back at you- love the glimpses into your life as well- I love this thread and all of the women here. I think we are all a bit quirky and funny which I love. Your new avatar is great BTW,
Thanks everyone for thinking of me. I am hanging in there and starting a new antibiotic tomorrow- didn't get around to picking it up today *dumb*. We have been working on finishing our basement ourselves. So DH took the day off and worked all day trying to get it finished. Tomorrow he and my brother are going to attempt to lay carpet down. Neither knows what they are doing but my brother is pretty darn smart about stuff like this so I am having faith. ( Not that DH is dumb- but he's good at other things ;P) Between the paint fumes and the dust at the moment I am not feeling great but I think it will pass with sleep tonight.
So I have to share and laugh with you all. My DH has been sneaking around planning something for Christmas for me. He's funny because he is just bad enough at sneaking so you know he is doing something yet good enough that you don't know exactly what. So for the third night in a row he has left after the boys go to bed to go "shopping". He just called me and said, and I quote "ok....I am at Sears....it's supposed to be a surprise....but I need you to tell me what to do." HUH?? He was buying me a new washer and dryer and couldn't pull the trigger on the purchase (Mama holds the purse in this family, lol!!!) So over the phone he goes over the ones he wants to get etc etc and has me tell him it's ok. LOVE HIM. I would have never indulged myself in this purchase yet REALLY wanted/needed new ones. I love when he reminds me of why our marriage works so well. He loves me enough to want to surprise me with a great thing, yet respects me enough not to spend our money without my input. Communication and respect- my oh so happy thought for the day
-
Oh, Laurie, that's so great!!
You must be so happy!
Electricity still out
For dinner, Mcdonalds yuck and then later OJ and tortilla with butter and frozen PB&J. I'm a pig, Couldn't wait for the bread to defrost.
I have a few lights in the bedroom area but not in the kitchen . Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow, as, I have another Date! ( different person ) and would really like to clean this place up!
-
Trying to lose weight...I had salmon on a bed of romaine with balsamic vinaigrette. (While my DH went to pick up Chinese food for himself!!!) BC is a mean disease...I have to get to my goal and lose 10 pounds, seems I am on a plateau...I have already lost the first 10...I am struggling to keep it off.
-
Hauntie- I had never heard of seeded cookies before, you are always cooking up somthing different and good sounding. Yum!!
Michelle- Glad you had a nice dinner date out- Hoping the rads keep getting easier for you.
Laurie- Thats funny, your husband sounds like such a cutie! Im going to yell at you now, and tell you to pick up those antibiotics LOL! We go to hawaii every year in Janurary since we moved from there, we stay at the sheraton waikiki, thats where i met my husband. i was going through a divorce, so was he, and i was staying with my sister who works there and met him at the sandbar, it was love(lust) at first sight LOL! We go for 2 weeks starting january 7th through the 22nd i think.
Bedo- You are too funny, frozen pb&j haha! another dinner date, you go girl! Hasn't your electricity been off for quite awhile? Hope it gets turned back on soon
Stage1-I hear ya on that, its hard to lose weight especially during the holidays!
Went to dinner with friends had our christmas gift exchange, they are leaving for florida tomorrow and wont see them until new years. had crab louie and french fries, no drinks tonight for me, i was being good. But I know i wont have a hangover tomorrow, yay!
-
AHHH Laurie he is a keeper! They are such simple creatures!! Did you ever accomplish any of your Christmas shopping?
We are getting snow flurries today, barely a trace and the snow plows were out. I think the county workers are looking for some extra Christmas money since we havent had any snow yet.
Does anyone see the commercial where they guy is outside in the gingerbread house mailing his christmas packages? The mailman ask "do I smell snickerdoodles" and the guy says "maybe" Well my DH asked me "whats a snickerdoodle" and I told him its a cookie and he immediately thought it had snicker candy bars in them and wanted me to make some. LOL like he needs a cookie with a candy bar in it. I will make him some snickerdoodles...used to make them when the kids were little, but I dont think he knew the name of them.
Happy Saturday, off to take care of mom...so much easier now that she is only 20 min away.
-
Bedo forgot to comment oooooh a date, let us know how it goes. Love a good love story, like Debbie's!
-
Laurie - that is so sweet that your DH was trying to surprise you. He sounds like a gem!!! I hope this new antibiotic does the trick for you. Being sick around the holidays is not a fun thing!
Debbie - I am jealous, jealous, jealous!!! I love Hawaii and I know you will have a fabulous time!
Deb - enjoy packing for Bermuda...you will have a wonderful trip!
Hauntie - are those seeded cookies made with sesame seeds?
Bedo - too funny! Enjoy your date!
Stage1 - I like salmon but my DH won't touch it with a ten foot pole. Losing weight around the holidays is hard, but you can do it!
Joyce -- happy shopping! DH said something about going today and I told him to wait until Monday. My guess is that the stores will be crazy today.
-
Everyone has so much going on! Debbie, I was jealous of Bermuda, now I am jealous of Hawaii! Have a great time. Hope your foot is doing better. Torn ligaments can take a long time to feel better. Do you have a boot to wear?
Seaside, I was watching miracle on 34th street at the same time as you. I didn't like it being colorized. Did you?
Laurie, that is great to be getting a new washer and dryer. I would like to get one of the front loading ones, but what I have isn't broen, so won't spend the money on it. Make sure you get your antibiotic. You want to be feeling better.
Bedo, I agree, a date, how fun. Those days have been over for me so long, but would love to live vicariously through you and hear the details.
Michelle and Joyce, so glad you had a nice dinner. Yours is one of the really good stories from the website. I know how you feel about the driving. Everytime I get in the car with my DH I ask him to please leave lots of following distance when he's driving. I can get neaseus (sp?) when he drives.
Hauntie, I wish I were one of your coworkers! I made butter cookies that came out well, and toll house as well, which were gone in a few days. I made some more, and they didn't come out at all, we're so flat. I figured out I got confused withe the butter measurements and put a lb in instead of half a lb. why do they use those confusing cup measurements for butter, why don't they just tell you in lbs? Or maybe I am the only one who gets confused by it?
Apple, I agree with enjoying the glimpses into everyone's lives. All the women here are just so genuinely nice, I love it here.
Had veggie burgers again last night since I took my DD out after school to do some Christmas shopping. Going out tonight to a Christmas party at my DH's coworker's house. -
Oh, Carrie, so glad your mom got home. I hope she will up to her old self soon.
-
We are being picked up at 5:30AM Tuesday morning, might as well stay up all night, LOL
Right now it is 71 and chance of rain in Bermuda.
Debbie, I'm glad you had your injury checked, one time when my DH had an abscess burst we did not get out of the ER for 8 hours, that is because they had to clean it and stick a wick in the hole so it would drain and stitch the wick to his skin so it would not fall out. YUCK.
-
I haven't been on here in a while. I just finished 35 radiation treatments, so glad that is over and the healing can begin. I am trying to get back to a more vegetarian eating. I made meatless chili last night, and it was yummy
-
At work we had a Chili contest and I tasted the most delicious chili called Pumpkin Spice Chili. I had 2 helpings and it won 2nd place.
Thinking of things to pack.
