Thank you Thank youThank you three17. Just found this forum and still in the initial stages of figuring out what's up with me. Started with the pink, warm, slightly swollen area that sent me to the drs. Luckily she gave me both a perscription for antibiotics and an appt. for a mamm. They found a 2 cm+/- "ugly" area and 2 lymphs suspicious. Before biopsy Surgeon felt for sure it was IBC, but now is not so sure. Biopsy returned with ductal carcinoma with lymph positive diagnosis, ER+/PR+ and today FISH came back Her2-. Waiting on skin biopsy results. Hopefully they will find it is same as you, three17. Feels weird to be hoping it is "plain cancer." I really do want to snowboad this winter, and . . Thanks, at least for the hope.

Hey Sno,
How are you? Any results? I am praying for you and sending you (((HUGS))). It has been a crazy road and I know how you feel about being relieved its just "plain" cancer. If you want to pm message me that will be fine too. All the best and please keep us updated.
-
It does not look like my IBC at all. IBC is also usually ER- PR-. they also did a skin punch bx to determine mine. It's usually just skin and nodal involvement, no lump with IBC. Hopefully your bx results will come back soon.

I'm back. Breast Center Director called today with results of skinbx. No malignancy: dilated dermal lymphatic vessels is what they found. Also found negative immuno. histostains for cysto keratins. Pls. excuse if I've gotten the info. mixed/spelled wrong but they called and I wrote and repeated back what she said. Haven't looked it all up yet, but she said it was good news. So they are thinking probably not IBC now, but being sure by doing an MRI scanning to see if there is any thickened skin area not being picked up. (Seriously though my boobs are the ONLY smooth part of me, since I've spent my life playing and working hard outdoors snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, kayaking, and construction work, too.) I go Tues for stitches out, and MRI. Wed. for 2nd opinion with Dana Farber at Brigham and Women's down in Beantown. We are feeling a little more positive, but not counting any peeps.
-
Good news. I like your second opinion!
-
Sno,
Good luck with the MRI. No cancer cells in skin biopsy good news. I too had the dialated venules and lymphocytes. My skin is still thickened but sloooooowwwwwly clearing up. Hope your trip to Beantown confirms no IBC. Hugs and parayers

Back from the marathon. Two trips to Boston. Phone conferences, results reviews. Hardest has been telling the wonderful staff at my Elementary school where I have worked for 15 years. No change in the outward look of the tata, still pinkish, swollen a bit, but not sore at all. MRI showed a little larger area (3.9 cm) as part of the mass. (I lifted my own copy of the path's. observations in the sonogram report I carried with my films to Boston. It talked about some possible satelite bits.) Lymph involvement, but not a specific count. CT all clear, Phew. PET clear, only things lighting up are the known areas, another Phew. ECHO showed a healthy heart ready for the war. Dana Farber/Brigham's and home base Concord, NH are coordinating and corroborating. My care will be done here close so I can have a life. Dana Farber will review results and track me. Plan is the AC-T routine for 4 mos. then surgery, and radiation, then hormones ER/PR +, Her2-. Beantown says IBC. Concord says maybe not, but all are on same page with the same treatment, so I said "doesn't matter if it's a coy dog or a coyote, we're shooting the hell out of it." Today is chemo onco. visit up here, and Chemo 101 training. Haircut after, might as well donate it to someone who can use it. Tomorrow is port implant. "And so it begins."
-
Good luck at the onc. Kick its ass!!!!
-
Port implant was yesterday (Wed) My surgeon is pretty tiny. So I think the only way she got my port threaded under my wicked big neck and shoulder muscles was to sit on my chest and lever away with her knees. Too many years chucking hay bales, ripping up roofs, and moving rocks can come back to haunt you. D--- this little thing is a pain. Nurse said the bandages have to stay til first chemo on Monday. Hope there is skin left under there when they start peeling it off. Hope to be at work on Tuesday; miss the kids.

Hi Patty: I'm so glad to hear that you do not have IBC. It's good that your doctors were listening to you and did not dismiss your concerns.
Best wishes for a happy holiday with your family
-
Thank you. I am, glad too. Wishing all of my sisters and brothers a happy holiday!
