recommendation for an oncologist in Arizona?

Options

Hi everone,

Mom had her surgery last week and yesterday we got the bad news that 1/3 lymph node is positive and she needs to consult with an oncologist. She was reffered to one by her surgeon, which does not have very good rating. Please either post here or PM me if you know of one in Arizona.

Thanks

Where are you in Arizona? I am north, and drive to see my oncologist in Sedona, Lindquist, who comes highly recommended from several contacts I know at Mayo and St. Joseph's in Phoenix.

Thanks claireinaz, my mom lives in Glendale. Sedona is a little far from her.

We had a second opinion consult at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert. The oncologist was terrific -- Cianfocca, I think, was her name?  and I nearly chose her b/c I was so impressed by the experience I had there, but since she agreed with the tx protocol already prescribed by my Sedona doc, we decided that driving 45" for tx was preferable to 3 hours one way.  We are, however, going to have my surgery/recon and radiation done at MD Anderson.  They are professional, caring, and brand new in AZ and seem to have an expert staff. Give them a call; hopefully your mom's insurance will be accepted by them but they'll ask you questions about that over the phone when you call for an appt.

Thank you Claire for the suggestion, unfortunately her insurance is not covered by them. Hope everything is going well with your treatments.

I'm getting through them day by day. Try Virginia Piper Cancer Center, also in the Valley. The docs there were recommended as well.

I have moved to this area and am searching for a breast oncologist in Phoenix, AZ or Sedona, AZ, for my follow up appointments after surgery, chemo, and radiation. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated -- as well as any negatives. Naturally I would like to know the best doctor in this area. Thank you so much for any replies.
