Candle in the wind. Elton John
They say Spain is pretty, though I've never been
Well Daniel say it's the best place he's ever seen
Oh and he should know, he's been there enough -
Daniel....also Elton John
How you tried to set them free
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
-
Vincent -- Don McClean
You could have a steam train
if you'd just lay down your tracks
You could have an aeroplane flying
if you bring your blue sky back
All you do is call me
I'll be anything you need -
Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel
Yeah, I'm a Napalm bomb for you, baby
Guaranteed to blow your mind
And if I can't have your love for my own
Sweet child, won't be nothing left behind. -
Steamroller Blues - James Taylor
You need coolin', baby, I'm not foolin'
I'm gonna send you back to schoolin' -
Whole Lotta Love ~ Led Zeppelin
When I was a little boy
And the devil would call my name
I say now who do, who do you think you're foolin'?
-
(badger, sorry I didn't get to yours quick enough.)
Loves Me Like A Rock -- Paul Simon
I don't want your lonely mansion with a tear in every room
All I want's the love you promised beneath the haloed moon
But you think I should be happy with your money and your name
And hide myself in sorrow while you play your cheating game -
Silver Threads and Golden Needles - Linda Ronstadt
All you gotta do is smile that smile
and there go all my defenses.
Just leave it up to you and in a little while
you're messin' up my mind and fillin' up my senses. -
Here You Come Again - Dolly Parton
They come from the cities
And they come from the smaller towns
Beat up cars with guitars and drummers
Goin' crack boom bam -
OH, dang, I knew I knew that Dolly Parton song, but it wouldn't come to me. Don't think I know the one above though. Saw Jersey Boys last night. Great music and a great story! Sorry to interrupt the game.
-
R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A. - John Mellencamp
Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing
Through my opened ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying Love which shines around me like a
million suns, and calls me on and on... -
not sure of the title but it's the Beatles... nothing's gonna change my world...
hey Kay, you're part of the fun of the game so chime in whenever! I'm living vicariously through folks like you and Suzanne who get tix to cool shows.
Oh pretty baby, don't bring me down, I pray.
Oh pretty baby, now that I found you. Stay. -
Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You..(..or maybe its called You're Just Too Good To Be True?) I would say Frankie Valle did it, but I wonder if it is an older song that he re-did?
You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice
(hey badger! I did recently go on a ticket-buying-binge...it's not always like this! And Paul Simon was pretty cool!
-
Mine was The Beatles...Across the Universe.
Free Will - Rush
You say you love me
And I hardly know your name
And if I say I love you in the candlelight
There's no one but myself to blame
But there's something inside
That's turning my mind away
Oh how I could love you
If I could let you stay -
It's Late! Queen
I miss Freddie.
blue canary in the outlet by the light switch,
who watches over you...
not to put too fine a point on it
say i'm the only bee in your bonnet

IDK those lyrics but have to mention a new TV commercial with a montage of people singing the wrong words to Elton John's Rocket Man. The hero is someone who owns the right car with a stereo so crisp the owner can actually hear the right words:
Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone
makes me think of this thread every time!
-
IDK kate2011's lyrics either, but I have seen that commercial too. Funny! One of my favorite misheard lyrics is:
Don't fool around tonight, it's bound to take your life, there's a bathroom on the right.
-
hahahha!
-
Kate, you forgot to check in and left us languishing for days. I guess I could have Googled it???
Anyway, moving right along with another...
Whatever happened to all this season's losers of the year?
Every time I got to thinking, where'd they disappear?
When I woke up, Mom and Dad were rolling on the couch
Rolling numbers, rock and rollin', got my KISS records out -
Surrender....Cheap Trick
I'm a winner, I'm a sinner
Do you want my autograph
I'm a loser, what a joker
Playing my jokes upon you
While there's nothing better to do
-
Breakfast In America - Supertramp
You need a Yen to make a Mark
If you wanna make money
You need the luck to make a buck
If you wanna a Getty, Rothschild
-
Oh, sorry.
It's They Might Be Giants, Birdhouse in Your Soul. It's just a cute little song that I've had stuck in my head for days now!
-
The lyrics were from Wall Street Shuffle -- 10cc. Here's another:
Time, time, time, see what's become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
But look around, leaves are brown
And the sky is a .......................... -
Hazy Shade of Winter -- Simon & Garfunkel
O.K., I heard this one on my car radio tonight when I went to pick up Chinese food. It was quite the coincidence because when the song came out, a friend of mine misheard the chorus and thought it actually said, "Chinese Drive-In." No idea why.
She wants to send him a letter, uh yeah yeah
Just to try to make herself feel better
It said "Gimme (Gimme a call sometime)"
But she knows what that'll get herOh, oh, oh _________ ________.
-
LOL! Jamie's Cryin' - Van Halen
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain't got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home
My baby... -
My baby just wrote me a letter. The box tops
We stood there lost in our embarassment
As the conversation dragged
We went to have ourselves
A drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar -
Same Old Lang Syne - Dan Fogelberg
With you I'm not shy ~ to show the way I feel
With you I might try ~ my secrets to reveal -
OK that was a hard one- Magnet & Steel by Walter Egan
I was born in the wagon of a travellin' show
My mama used to dance for the money they'd throw
Papa would do whatever he could
Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of doctor good -
Gypsies tramps and thieves Cher
Sally take my hand
We'll travel south cross land
Put out the fire
And don't look past my shoulder -
Baba O'Riley -- The Who
"...you'll be doin' all right, with your Christmas of white..."
