-
OMG!! Love the video! Just shared it on my facebook!!
-
My hair has officially started to rain down, literally during my shower, man the tub looks like i got my hair cut in it. No more waxing for me, hee hee
-
All those doggie pictures...ooh they make my heart hurt, in a good way! I miss my Ryder-girl! I had two doxies, a black/tan and a tan. I'll have to figure out this picture thing tomorrow.
naan - I actually wax now, because the hair is thin, but still there. It is nice to not worry about it so often.
-
LauraJane, so glad to hear from you.
Druanne & Heiditoo, your little guys are adorable. We have 2 dogs, no children - they are spoiled rotten. I have to post a pic of them and find my way over to the new thread.
I'm back to having to shave my legs everyday, sort of nice I guess. Wish I had more hair, Still just a strange colored buzz but it's growing.
-
This is a pic of Hoover's (left) last Birthday, Daddy blinded the poor guy with the flash and my goofy Harley (right) is enjoying the last of his krimpets.
-
Here's my furry baby Brandie...
-
This photo was taken in Oct. 2010 when Brandie joined our family in the Run for the Cure. He's a boy but will wear a pink bandana (he's secure in his masculinity...lol)

LJ, Oh how wonderful to hear from you. I can totally understand how we can try this and that, but everything costs money and especially in this economy, it is difficult. Well, I was thinking what about contacting Susan Komen organization? We have walked for so many years and raised money and what was that for? It was for "saving your life". You are the reason. Therefore, the time has come for them to give to you, even if they have all this global support, outreach and what not, to us, our lives are also important, each and everyone of us because we are mothers, wives, sisters and daughers and all of us are important. They have rasied trillions of dollars over the years, I am sure someone there can help you. Here is their support grant link, hope you can get somewhere with this. Let us know if we all can write letters to them. Just write us the address and a little bit of your information, and we will all have our letters to them in a heartbeat, faxed to them. http://ww5.komen.org/

^^^We need a like button once again. Wonderful post Lovelyface.
LJ so glad to hear from you. Loving the dogs ladies. My little ones are not ready for a dog just yet. If I get one it would become my third child...
-
Brandie is adorable and love the scarf!
-
I just love all the pics of your furry family members. I have cats (indoor and outdoor feral rescues). If I can figure out how to post them I will.
LJ ...... I propose to have a fund raiser with all the proceeds going to support your new treatment. Even though I am in Seattle I think I can convey the important message that support is needed for women fighting this disease all over the country. I have several locations that I can get at no charge and a few fundraising ideas that would create a buzz in the community. I also know several bands that may be willing to play for free. In addition, I have been given the go-ahead to have a booth at our local all-year farmers market at no charge. This happens to be a very busy market in a community that I have been a part of for many years. That said, I think I can rally some troops in support of you.
Let me know what you think and I will propose a few options. I think about you every day and pray that you find the "one" that kicks some a**.
Ladies, please feel free to share your thoughts on this as well. I woke up thinking about this so might be a bit off target on my idea.
-
Sugar- Brandie needs to meet MacFry. He is secure in his masculinity also!
In fact, I don't think he'd be embarrassed if I posted this picture. Sassy (our former Philadelphia Street Cat in temporary residence until my son convinces his landlord to allow cats) PUSHED him off his chair while he and Johnny Reb (seated to the left) were enjoying a beer (note the logo on the bottle). For the full effect of this uncalled for bullying I have posted the picture full-size, so you will have to use your scroll key to view the total extent of the carnage.

Heidi, oh the horror, LOL
-
Hi all. I've been lurking keeping up with y'all.
LJ, thank you so much for checking in, been thinking of you often.
Suze, I hope the new trial is kick*ss for you.
Heidi, thanks for all the chuckles and thanks to everyone for all the pet posts (I really miss having pets)
Welcome Catwhispurr, Lisajcj and Druanne
Bak, congrats on the great news.
OliveO, sorry for the unsettling news, hope the tumor markers are wrong.
Mittymuffin. Thank you for posting the study. It helped in 2 ways. I've been *itching for the last few weeks that by now they should have a way to stain cells so we don't have to have repeated surgeries, and voila, it looks like it may be in the works. Second, my onc has mentioned another possible clinical trial (depending on my surgical results) and I wonder if that's the trial she's thinking of. I've been looking at the research, and I'm gonna try and talk my PCP to put me on Metformin ( if I can't get in the trial and keep my *as out of the control group this time around)
Had my second lumpectomy 2 weeks ago. Neg lymph nodes, and clean margins this time. The week after surgery I was able to put in 3 days cleaning up all the leaves and clearing the gutters. It doesn't get much better than that. -
LJ: So glad to hear that beautiful fight and positive attitude inj your post.
Mittymuffin: thanks for the encouragement.I am going to take your advice and just rest a lot.
I'm a little nervous. They wanted an endoscopy to find the cause of the GI bleed before my next chemo and the doctor was unsure about what he found. There wasn't an apparent particular bleed but there are 20 polyps in my stomach and an enlarged diafraticulum. So he removed and biopsied 4 polyps and a sliver if stomach and diafraticulum to look for bacteria or some cause of all this. Hopefully we hear by next Tuesday but I am feeling a little frustrated by all this.
Love all the pics,
Lee Ann

Heidi - I see the "oh so innocent" look on the cat's face - daring you to accuse!!
-
gillyone---yup, you got her figured out!
-
Heidi,
She has the special cat contemplative look all figured out - looks like she has NOTHING to do with the upheaval around her. LOL!! I have certainly seen that look before. I love cats!
-
Sugar, Brandi is precious and he looks good in pink!! He looks like a loving little guy.
-
McCrimmon, Love the birthday pics!! They are pretty dogs - what kind are they? I'm glad to see others whose furbabies are like family!! Mine have been a real comfort to me during all this.

To all:
Have been reading all the posts regularly, and wishing everyone all the best. Made it through Thanksgiving, and then began to sink lower and lower with Christmas coming upon us. Christmas meant so much to my daughter, and no matter how sick or weak she felt, she never let that deter her and we did so very much together. I am missing that so very, very much. Rather than let myself sink into a deep depression over missing her so much, I have thrown myself into everything I can possibly do so that I just keep on going - like the energizer bunny - which helps me to keep going forward, and not backward. Long story short - I will post as soon as I get through these holidays. I look so forward to them for the children, but also wish I could just sleep through them - if that makes any sense.
LJ - Thank God you posted. I think of you and Suze continously and pray and pray and pray for each of you.
To everyone else on this forum, I send my love and wish you all blessed holidays.
Linda
-
Laurajane: So glad to see your post! And a "thank you" to whomever called and let you know we were all concerned about you. You deserve a miracle.. your attitude toward this disease is truly an inspiration and I know you have touched each of us here by it in so many ways. You do not have an expiration date and you've proven that!
May you all have a Happy Holiday just in case I don't post until after Christmas! We bake for a week straight so will be busy. This time last year I was just trying to get through chemo and practically lived on the forum. I'm very thankful for this place where we all can help one another, even if it's just with words of kindness, hope and strength. It means a lot to so many...
-
Christina - Hoover is an Austrailan Sheperd and Harley is an Austrailan Sheperd mix. My goofy little Harley was glued to my side all thru treatment.
Linda, I'm so sorry for your loss and I wish for you peace this Holiday season
-
Mccrimmon324:
Thank you for your kind thoughts.
-
Linda,
I am so sorry for your loss. I also hope you will find some peace.
McCrimmon, It doesn't surprise me that Harley is so devoted - those are wonderful dogs. I have transported cattle dogs for a rescue quite often (1-2 hour transports) and never really was around them before then. Even though I am not a morning person and that particular transport always ran at 8 am, I volunteered frequently just because I loved the dogs I got to meet. I have a bunch of photos saved on my cell phone from all of my passengers over the past few years.
Inmate, just say the word and I'll be glad to participate somehow. What items can be sold at the booth and when is it available? Would cat toys be something desirable? That's the only thing I could make quickly right now, but I could probably make 50 or so in two days.
-
Linda - I've been thinking of you a lot with the holidays coming, knowing how much you must be missing your beautiful daughter. I think continuing to celebrate her traditions with her children is an amazing way to pay tribute and help her children through this difficult time. When it becomes overwhelming, we will be here to help you shoulder the burden and lift you up. I am not a religious person, but your prayers mean everything to me, and I feel one day I will meet your daughter and know what lovely, wonderful people you both are. Hugs to you.
Inmate - I am not "crafty" on short notice, so I'm not sure what I could offer there. I can send a pair of "new" Christian Louboutin shoes to be auctioned/raffled, lol. But I'd love to help, so keep me posted! PMs are good.
LJ - please stay in touch and let us help you. Even if in the end all we can do is fund that amazing trip to Mexico... Stay strong.
I love all the doggie pictures. Cats are fun, but dogs are my "thing". I'd still love to get one now, and keep trying to convince my DH that my oldest son adores dogs to so it would be a comfort for him. I may get my way yet..
Angelisa - I hope you have a great holiday!
Lee Ann - hang in there, fingers crossed all is benign! So many things we wouldn't worry about before are now so scary. Come here for support, we'll be here!!
Kathrynn - yay on clean everything, and done with surgery! Time to move forward. Are you doing rads?
~~~
So I'm feeling better today. The Halaven is a little harder on me than the Abraxane, but manageable. I did have a bit more nausea, but controlled. Happily I feel less bloated, and my SOB seems to have improved a bit. I still can't sleep on my right side, and the cough is obviously there, but the reduced bloating is great. My DF MO told me the SEs of the cancer will dissipate in the order they showed up, so cough will resolve last, bummer.
I'm going back to my old MO, she is much closer, and her schedule is much more flexible for my DH. She will continue to consult with DF though, and we'll be keeping a sharp eye out for clinical trials.
Hope the weekend is good for all! I'm hoping I'll be feeling back to good so we can still travel at Christmas. So far I'm headed in that direction, fingers crossed!
Susan -
I popped back in to check on everyone and so good to see the familiar names and avatars! Mccrimmon, Heidi, Suze, MLJ, LMR, Angelisa, Laurajane, Gill, Sugar, Fighter and on and on!! You ladies are so wonderful to stay on this site to socialize and ease the transition with this awful diagnosis.
Just wanted to say I'm 14 months out from my last chemo and STILL NED! According to the 'charts', I only have 4 months to go of 'high riskiness', haha. Sound more fun that it really is.
I try not to think about the cancer too much but the side effects continue one, but then again, so is my life, so guess we're even.
Hang in there because it does get better
I had my LX and SNB on Wednesday. All went pretty well but BS had to take 3 nodes that drained from the tumor and one looked "angry." BS took the lump plus a big hematoma that was still left over from my biopsy 6 weeks ago. He said he had to go deep, all the way to my muscle so did a lot of cauterizing to stop bleeding. I am still wrapped and don't know what to expect when the bandages come off. I can see a lot of bruising around the bandages. BS is thinking the large LN might be from still trying to heal the biopsy hematoma and I hope he is right. My PET/CT and brain MRI are all normal so that is good. NOw just waiting (again) for the path report. I am so relieved to have the cancer OUT. I start chemo in about a month if I am healed enough.
Heiditoo - love those kitty pic's. It made me LOL!
