Hello All,

Has anyone had the clinical trial with the Parp Inhibitor drug? My mom is currently under this clinical trial with John Hopkins Medical Center.  I would just like to hear of any promising results? Also, are there any types of support you can give me as her caregiver (daughter), my mom is 54 and full of life.  However going through this again 3rd time is making her really depressed.  Please help, advice anything I'll take.

Maybe post this in the Stage IV forum, I think the trials are for Stage IV women. You might get more responses.

I recently participated in phase 2 of the trial in the UK. It has the potential to be a useful drug, but there is much work needing to be done as yet. Please don't expect amazing results, or you may be disappointed. It does however seem to have the ability to resensitise the body to chemo, which in itself is useful. In my case, I was on it for 6 months, but progression meant we had to stop immediately, and return me to conventional chemo. I was devastated-mislead by claims, perhaps, about it being the new and amazing answer to those of us with genetic cancers, the return to reality was a bitter pill to swallow! Yet-it did give me nearly 6 months, so I'm not complaining-just emphasising that any claims of it being a super drug should be treated with caution. It's a very doable thearpy, with few side effects-so it may be worth her giving it  try. Good luck-and feel free to pm me if you want any more info?

Thank you everyone for your help.  I did take on the advice of posting this onto the stage IV forum and hopefully I will get even more feedback.  Thank you again!
