Hello,  I had a lumpectomy on 11/28 and two Sentinel nodes removed.  I go to see my surgeon tomorrow 12/6.  The path reports stated Clear Margins and Negative Nodes.  It also stated ER / PR negative.  Is this good ?  will I need a Medical Onconlogist?  thanks so much for all the help with sorting through this "adventure".

I had ER+/PR- DCIS and had a lumpectomy followed by SAVI radiation in September.  Both my breast surgeon and radiation oncologist said I really didn't need a medical oncologist.  Since I am ER+ my breast surgeon prescibed Tamoxifen for me and gave me a script for a mammogram follow-up in March.

That being said, I noticed that most women here have a medical oncologist.  I posted here about this about a month ago and decided to make an appointment with one.  I go on January 4.  She may not have me do anything differently, but another opinion certainly can't hurt.  I do have a co-worker that also had DCIS and she's being followed by a MO for 5 years.  She told me he does her bloodwork and checks tumor markers.  She will be 5 years in the spring and is doing fine.
